Business Coach 285SHOW NOTES:

How Do I Develop a Brand from Scratch?

Define what is a brand is: “Brand is just a perception, and perception will match reality over time. Sometimes it will be ahead, other times it will be behind. But brand is simply a collective impression some have about a product.” – Elon Musk (One of the founders of Tesla, Pay-Pal, Solar City and Space X)

Your brand is what other people say about you when you are not in the room. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon

Step 1 – Define your ideal and likely buyers

“The Tiffany Theory states that a gift delivered in a box from Tiffany’s will have a higher perceived value than one in no box or a plain box. That’s not because the recipient is a fool; it’s because in our society, we gift-wrap everything: our politicians, our corporate heads, our movie and TV stars, and even our toilet paper. Public Relations is like gift wrapping.” – Michael Levine (Thrive15.com mentor, best selling author and the PR consultant of choice for Michael Jackson, Pizza Hut, Nike, Prince, etc.)

Step 2 – Determine what products / brands and services your ideal and likely buyers already buy from

The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself.” Peter Drucker (New York Times best selling author of The Effective Executive and the father of modern management)

Step 3 – Create a world-class logo

Step 4 – Create a world-class website

Step 5 – Commit to never showing the customer anything that is not world-class (print pieces, branded e-mails (not aol.com, yahoo or g-mail), one sheets, business cards, social media marketing, etc…)
