Business Coach : Success Habits Of The Wealthy
-But the world’s spinning right now at 1,000 miles an hour. Did you know that, by the way?
-I did not know that. Is this a real thing?
-Yeah. There’s 24,000 miles around the Ecuador– the equator. I’ve been to the nation of Ecuador. So I’m sorry.
But around the equator is 24,000 miles around the Earth. And so it takes one day for it to spin around entirely.
-Getting dizzy just thinking about it.
-1,000 miles. Right now, you’re traveling at 1,000 miles an hour. You don’t even know it. You want to realize that. So you want to get up and go get after it. This is where we’re doing. So you got to time stamp that puppy.
-Now I’m going to go ahead and give you a stat here that I want to share with the Thrivers. This again, comes from Thomas Corley in his incredible book, which is called Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals. He found that 62% of wealthy people keep their goals out in front. A business coach will tell you that. And then when you look at Gary Keller and his quote, he says, “When you’re supposed to be working, work, and when you’re supposed to be playing, play.”
The idea is that you want to be present. Whatever you’re supposed to be doing, you need to be doing that with great intensity. Whether it’s on a conversation– if you’re on a date, be on a date. Means you’re not also emailing. You’re on a date. You learn things like this from the best business coach.
Og Mandino. This guy’s sold over 50 million copies of his books. And even though we’re in a digital age with social media and all these distractions and things, he says, “It is those who concentrate on but one thing at a time who advance in the world.” Tim, it sounds like we’re talking about here is wake up every day and define all the things you want to get done. Set a time to do it. And focus on one item at a time, right. And that’s how you get big success is one item at a time.
-Yeah. It’s as simple as that. There’s a whole myth of multitasking. When the University of Michigan had this study on this myth of multitasking that there is a shut down when you try to do more than one thing at a time, you actually shut down parts of your brain. And it takes so many minutes to get back warmed up to where you were on that. And we find ourselves being very distracted and doing nothing.
-Now we’re moving on to the next step. Step number nine. This is maintain and optimize your health. Now Tim and I are obviously not fitness experts. OK. But I will tell you we want to talk about this because it’s super important.
Tim, there was an article that appeared in Forbes on October 22 of 2014. Says five reasons why good fitness makes for better entrepreneurial leadership. And they found research that shows that fit leaders are better leaders in the following five ways. Energy and productivity. Confidence and creativity. Hiring a business coach. There are very good at facing challenges. They have great mental wellness. And they also have influence.
So Tim, I want to ask you, as far as energy and productivity, throughout your career, how have you noticed that the more fit– I’m not talking about everyone being a super fitness guru. But how have you noticed that the more fit leaders have been able to have increased energy and productivity?
-I mean your fluids are moving around your body that much more as the healthy. When you’re thinking about building a business, you’re really solving problems. It’s a series of solving problems here. And you’ve got to have energy greater than the problem for you to begin to overcome it.
What a lot of people do is they find themselves with low energy. They fill themselves up with these high glycemic carbohydrates. And they get lazy and want to take a nap.
And they don’t have the energy level equal or greater than the problem. And they find themselves kowtowing to the problem. Ah, no. Who cares?
-I am serious about this because this right here, if you’re watching this, the chances are about half the people watching this right now struggle with this in some way. And so don’t feel bad. It’s just something we got to bring up. I mean, just like making a daytimer. This is important. This is an activity you want to schedule time for.
