Business Growth By Business Coach

Marshall: Okay, and, business Coach, I know that you’ve been growing the business, but also on the show today we have Jeff Rindt, who is a psychotherapist, and he helps families and businesses and business clients and owners actually improve the emotional intelligence. And I know that, Jeff, as you’ve been growing your business and helping other people as well, talk to me about this diligence, and what is it that emotionally or psychologically that you have work through as you’ve been growing your business and helping other people get to where they want to go?

Business Coach 180

Jeff: Well, I think the thing that people need to understand is you’re going to come to some point when you’re doing something significant in your life where you want to stop. It just is too hard, or it’s not working, or for some reason, you’re just not feeling it. And then, you have to continue to remember why you started and persevere until you start winning.

An example of that was in my midlife, I just went through a total meltdown. I went through a divorce, which was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. People don’t know how hard that is. I never expected that to happen. I was anti-divorce and all that stuff. But the bottom line is, I did go through a horrible divorce and ended up with nothing. I could tell you why, but it’s a long story and this is a business coach show. But the bottom line was I ended up with enough money to get to my parents’ house, and then I came to Tulsa when I was 41 years old. I was studying my doctorate at the time, and I decided I’m going to finish that even if I don’t have the money to finish it. I was 12 hours away from finishing my doctorate, and so I went ahead, and I finished it on my own without anything and started developing that. I wrote something on how to get over divorce, which became the best thing there is for helping people do that. Then, the Tulsa World did an article about it. The next thing you know, I had clients coming from everywhere, and I’ve got a counseling practice now that’s more prosperous. I’m doing better than I ever have and happily married to a great gal and loving my life.

Marshall: And so somebody’s listening to this right now, and they’re at that point. They’re in an emotional rut. Somebody needs to hear this, but what would you say to them in terms of an exercise or a practice or something to do? They’re currently at that position. What do they need to be doing? What is the action step? What can they be doing in order to help them get trending back up that upside of the v?

Jeff: That’s a great question. They need to get out of their emotions, and they need to think rationally, and then, they need to do right. Then, finally, their emotions will change again. It’s possible to get stuck in a place where you get so defeated emotionally that you don’t feel like you have worth or that you can accomplish anything. You just kind of give up, and that’s a terrible place to be. I call that the neurotic position, where you know you can move your life forward, but you’re too afraid of it, so you sit and make excuses. And what somebody has to do is dig down, to think right. Instead of, like what Coach said, thinking that they’re insignificant or insecure, they begin to talk about who they’re made to be, and there’s greatness in us. Then, set a vision. Start doing it, and that’s what I did, and it worked. It totally brought me out of it.

Marshall: So I want to just communicate to everybody listening that if you are starting a business or you’re having aspirations of starting a business, entrepreneurship can force you into maybe some of these emotional experiences and you need to find a business coach. What you are doing is building a business by yourself. It is your business, and so what I want to ask Clay, and, Clay, you can hammer this home, is the businesses that you’ve helped grow as a business coach, do you see this consistency? Do you see this as something that everybody goes through? Is this just part of the entrepreneurship path?

Clay: Well, I think what we’re going to see is that success is not normal. Success is not something that most people will achieve. Success is something that you can achieve especially with a business coach, but it’s not normal. So step number one is right now, today, I encourage you to take some form of action, some form of action. You can’t take all the action at one time, but some form of action.

So one is you could say, “You know what I’m going to do is I am going to go up the thrivetimeshow.com, and I’m just going to subscribe to the podcast. That’s as far as I’m going to go because, you know what, it’s free. It doesn’t cost me anything, and I’m going to go ahead and give that a whirl because I realize that if I do that, at least that’s something.”

Somebody else says, “You know what? I’m going to go to an in-person workshop, and at that workshop, I’m going to open my heart and my mind for a couple days to a money-back guarantee workshop. I’m going to come to that thing, and I’m just going to go ahead and listen to people who are more successful than I am teach me what to do. And you know what? If it doesn’t work out, I’m not stressed. Money-back guarantee, but I’m going to come out to a business coach workshop.”

Somebody else, you’re going to go to thrive15.com. You’re going to sign up for $1 with a lot of doubt in your mind, and you’re going to find the world’s best business college for less money than you’d spend at TU because TU’s allegedly $53,000, $54,000. And so $1 is a little bit less than that.

Or somebody else, you realize, “You know what? I’m a business owner. Game recognizes game, and I understand that Dr. Zoellner knows what he’s talking about. So you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to go ahead and sign up for his program. There’s no contract, and I’m going to get some one-on-one business coaching, and I’m going to start to do what Jeff Rindt and Coach Calvert, and Barbee Cookies, and Delricht, right? And I’m not done yet. And what the Tulsa Oilers, and what Elephant in the Room, and what Dr. Zoellner & Associates, and what the Z66 Auction, and what the DJ Connection, and what Make Your Life Epic Consulting are all doing. They’re growing their businesses quickly.” Success is for you and our business coach systems can help, and as always, 3, 2, 1, Boom!
