Nadel, a combat navigator and radar bombardier during WWII, flew 27 combat missions over Japan in a B-29 Bomber as a member of the Army Air Corps. Serving from 1942 to 1946, Nadel and his fellow crew members were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. Nadel was also individually awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters for his service with the U.S. Army Air Force.
