Watch what they do. Clay, my honor, my honor to be on your show and thank you for all you do. I hear the ripple effects from you are good ripple effects.

How are you, sir? Clay, I’m doing great.
I had a great Christmas holiday, and I’m glad to be here.
OK, so first question, can you tell us what is your name, first and last name, and what’s the name of your company, sir? My name is Kevin Thomas and the name of our company is MultiClean.
We are a commercial janitorial service and we serve the entire state of Oklahoma and Kansas and soon to be Arkansas.
And how long have we worked with you approximately at this point, sir?
It’s been about six, seven years. All right, Fire Nation, we are back. And our June 2024 income at a glance goes as follows. Gross income for June was $124 ,823. Our total expenses were $12 ,902 for a net profit of $111 ,921 for a percentage of net profit to overall gross revenue of a sweet 90%. And Fire Nation, as I said, we’re talking about some cool things today.
Bo’s first trip, myself speaking in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with none other than the Tim Tebow, and oh so much more. But first, I want to into Ron, Mr. CPA on Fire himself, who has a great monthly tax tip all about the benefits of the R &D tax credit for business owners. Ron, what’s up, brother?
And take it away. Hello, John, and hello, Fire Nation. This is Ron Parisi with CPA on Fire for your tax and accounting tip. And today, Fire Nation, We’re going to be rolling our sleeves up and getting involved in a technical tax topic, the R &D credit. And I don’t think we’re going to get too deep, but I really want to create awareness for you Fire Nation. I know you guys have businesses of various sizes and shapes.
But I really wanted to talk about the R &D credit and what exactly qualifies and just to get you guys aware that maybe certain expenses inside your organization could qualify for the R &D credit. But step one, let me just talk a little about the difference between a credit and a deduction, right? So a credit is money in your pocket. So the federal government and certain states will give you credits, money back for your R &D related expenses, 12 to 16%. So it’s substantial. So what exactly is a credit?
where a deduction is a reduction in your income, i . e. a reduction in your tax. So a credit is a lot more valuable to you, the entrepreneur. And let me just talk about the R &D has a pretty wide umbrella of what it can cover, right? So it’s really just research,
to bring new knowledge, right? So what does that mean? That means developing software, developing products, developing processes, and not just developing new, but also improving a problem, software, products, processes, new technologies, new production processes, prototypes, models, new tools. So a lot of things can qualify for the R &D credit. So really, I just want to make you guys aware that this credit exists. And I know a lot of folks are going to say, well, Ron, I do have a lot of R &D, but I don’t make any money, so I don’t qualify for the credit.
Well, particularly now the Inflation Act of 2022 is even expanded on this, is that if you have employees and you pay payroll taxes, these credits can offset your payroll taxes. So if you’re in true startup mode and maybe you’re not making a profit, you’re not bringing money to the bottom line, you still can get credits today on your payroll taxes, which is really important and I think a valuable asset for startups, companies in the startup phase. But I just really want to get everybody out there to really start thinking about the R &D credit, what could possibly qualify inside of your business, and whether it can apply and you can save some money and get some credits for this avenue here. The federal government is essentially believes that R &D is good for the country, that continuing to improve products, services, processes is valuable and is willing to help. you offset your expenses. Really important.
At CPA on Fire, right, we work with a lot of successful online entrepreneurs, right? We don’t particularly do the R &D credit for you, but we do have a referral source or referral network that can refer to firms, you know, particularly like high expert firms that can do the R &D credit. It requires that you file special tax forms with your company’s filings. And two is that there’s the ability to look back over at least the last in most cases, the last three years. So if you haven’t taken advantage of the R &D credit, it may not just be applicable this year and future years, but it could be applicable to past years as well. So it’s something I think that you Fire Nation should be aware of, that you should think through.
I just want to kind of, it’s a very technical area, but I just wanted to bring an awareness around this credit. It’s expanding with the Inflation Act of 2022. So there you have it, Fire Nation. If anybody’s interested and think they may qualify and would like to talk to a firm that specializes in this, just drop us an email at info at cpaonfire . com and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction. As always, always a pleasure to be with you, Fire Nation.
Ron Parisi with CPA on Fire. Thanks a lot, John, for having us on.
You guys go out there and crush it. Appreciate being with you. Ron, as always, thank you and Fire Nation for any questions that you have in the CPA, tax, all that jazz. Go ahead and reach out to CPAonfire . .com. com.
You can check out Ron directly, Ron, R -O -N, at CPAonfire . com. He loves emails from you, Fire Nation. Give him a shout. Now, what went down in June? We have an interview of the month, which is all about franchising, the better path to business ownership.
And of course, I had John Austinson rock the mic. John has been a partner slash sponsor of entrepreneurs on fire for many years now. And we had many value bombs we talked about building towards many smaller, healthier exits, which generates ongoing cash flow, increased potential. exits to cross your timeline, how franchising is not for everyone, but most people love support and need people on the sideline to go and execute for them, and how it’s important to have an expert guide to filter the right information that you need. So Fire Nation, if you want a free consultation all on this topic, just go to franbridgeconsulting . com.
And of course, John has a book as well that he will happily gift to you. And now we’re moving into Beau’s first trip. This is really exciting. com slash fire. That’s E -T -H -O -S life . com slash fire. A big reason why Kate and I moved to Puerto Rico back in 2016 was because we were ready for lifestyle freedom. We love to travel and we love new experiences. So we decided to shake things up.
After living here for over eight years, it turns out Puerto Rico has us to way more than we ever expected, including becoming hosts on Airbnb. That’s right. After traveling off island for months at a time during the summer, we realized that we could Airbnb one of our homes while we’re away. So when we travel to Maine and California in just a couple of weeks, we’ll be looking to share the beauty of Puerto Rico in one of our homes with travelers from near and far. So it turns out, We had an Airbnb and we didn’t even know it, our own home.
Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much at airbnb . com slash host.
All right, Fire Nation, we are back. And as promised before the break, we’re gonna talk about Beau Arthur Dumas’ first trip. So Kate, take it away. Yeah, so Bo and I hopped a plane to Minnesota in June, and I was so excited for his first trip. And I think my excitement took over any of the feelings that maybe I should have been having about traveling with a baby by myself, which was probably a good thing. And he was really great.
He was actually awesome on all of the flights.
We had a stopover and unfortunately there wasn’t a direct flight.
And he’s on my lap right now trying to grab the microphone. So forgive that. Bo, you’re after your daddy’s heart. I love it.
We had a stopover so we had to, it was a long travel day.
I think it was like 11 hours. Hi Bo. Okay. We got to Minnesota safe and sound got to see a ton of family. It was really cool. It’s actually my cousin’s oldest son was graduating high school.
And it like all the stars aligned and all of our family was able to head out there for the celebration. So it was a cool opportunity. bring Bo. He got to meet my aunt and uncle, who he hadn’t met before, my cousin and her kids. And we got to see my parents and my sister. So that was really great.
It was awesome family time. The weather was absolutely beautiful in Minnesota. We had a blast with the graduation party and got to just hang out and spend a lot of time together. And Bo was a champ. I really think that The travel days were obviously intense, but he was very good. And even the days that we were there, we were running around a lot, going to a lot of different places.
We were in the car a lot. We were around a lot of people. He was being passed around a lot. But he handled everything like such a champ. And I have some very cute pictures over on the income report.
So I highly recommend going to check those out. eofire . com forward slash income 130. Yeah, by the way, if you’re not going to the show notes page that Kay just shared to look at these pictures of Bo, We’re going to have to have a conversation because these pictures are unbelievable. He is so cute. He has so many different poses.
He’s in a swing in one looking very stoic, very serious. He’s on his grandmother’s lap, just kind of giving this little smirk look that is just hysterical. He’s passed out on Kate, just sleeping like a champion.
Um, the pictures are fantastic and you know, for any parents, you know that, uh, you’re a little prejudiced, but man, this kid is cute. Easy cutie. Anything else you want to talk about before we move into the next topic? On the heels of this trip, I’m really excited for our summer slash fall travels.
We’re going to be taking off at the end of this month for Maine and California. We’re going to be gone for two and a half months. So we’ll see how Beau’s report card comes back from this next set of trips. Can’t wait. Well, Beau, I’m glad you made another debut on an episode of Entrepreneurs on Fire. Thanks for rocking the mic, Kate, as well as Beau, as always.
And Kate’s, of course, going to be sharing a little something at the end here. But the next thing we’re going to talk about is myself getting to speak and present at Clay Clark’s Business Workshop. Uh, what was really cool is that the keynote speaker was Tim Tebow and you know, I’m a sports fan, so I really did enjoy watching Tim Tebow when he was the quarterback for the Florida Gators. And of course, as he was a quarterback in the NFL, one of the teams he was a quarterback for was the backup for Tom Brady and my new England Patriots. So it was really cool to get to meet him in person. Very nice guy, very genuine guy, and a very good public speaker.
So it was good to see as well. And it was a lot of fun. It was my second year in Tulsa. It was my second year at this conference as well. And I’ll tell you, I’ll go next year as well. I love this conference.
Clay Clark puts on such a valuable conference. A lot of conferences just try to get the biggest names they can and the speakers just get up there and just fluffy, fluff, fluff and talk about their book and this and that. This is all about valuable content that’s going to help you in your business. So a lot of people within Fire Nation got to come to this conference. I was hanging out with a lot of you in person. They’re probably listening right now because we had a great time.
It was a great conference in Tulsa for two days. Just value, value, value. So I enjoyed it. I know a lot of people that I talked to that heard about the events. on this podcast, truly enjoyed it. And we are going to have lasting friendships and relationships from that.
So absolutely a great time. If you hear about us talking about it again for either later this year in 2024 or 2025, I would highly recommend trying it out. happen if you can, because it’s just a very enjoyable and well done conference. Now I will talk about the income breakdown for June. Our product service was $120 ,353. We sold a total of 29 journals, 10 freedom journals, 11 mastery journals, and five podcast journals.
Podcasters Paradise brought in over $4 ,200. Our podcast sponsors was 115K.
Our affiliate income was $4 ,470 for a gross income of $124 ,823. Our business expenses totaled $12 ,902 for a net profit of $111 ,921. And the biggest lesson learned from Kate Lynn Erickson Dumas is joining a mastermind. Yeah, so my biggest lesson learned was inspired because I recently kind of shook things up in a mastermind that I’m a part of. So myself and my girlfriend, Nicole, are two members of a three member mastermind. And a few months ago, the third member of our group decided that she was going to kind of take a step back and take a break, which totally understandable.
It’s actually the longest running mastermind I’ve ever been a part of. We’ve been together for, I think, three, maybe going on four years. So totally understandable. But instead of just breaking up the mastermind, Nicole and I decided to invite a third member in to join us. And it kind of got me thinking there are so many different formats for a mastermind. And I think maybe a lot of people feel that they would have to pay to join a mastermind or that you know it has to be a huge group of people or that it has to look or be in a certain way and it kind of got me thinking back to just how many different types of masterminds I’ve been a part of and how
each one of them was incredibly valuable in its own way. All the way back to the very beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I paid to join a small group mastermind. I’ve been a part of big 100 person online masterminds. I’ve been a part of in -person masterminds. virtual masterminds, weekend -long masterminds, and all of them have just been so unique and so incredibly helpful. So I thought I’d just share that just in case anyone out there has wanted to join a mastermind or is thinking about it, to kind of encourage you to think about it in maybe another way, that it doesn’t have to look any certain way.
So even you just reaching out to some of your peers online and seeing if they wanted to start a mastermind with you, you could very well be the leader of your own mastermind. And the mastermind that Nicole and I do and the third person that has joined us now, we don’t pay. to be a part of it. We just all committed and agreed that we will meet with each other, support each other. We have a WhatsApp group. We’re hoping to plan an in -person trip, maybe coming up in the next year or so, so that we can hang out together in person, which we did with the threesome that we were before.
Yeah, masterminds are just so incredibly valuable. That support and the closeness that you can build is just unlike anything else.
It’s such a huge value for growing your business. For me, it’s been such a huge value in my personal growth as well. If you’ve been thinking about a mastermind, open up your mind and know that there are many different ways that it could look. In Fire Nation, that’s why I end every episode of Entrepreneurs on Fire by saying you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with because it’s so true. The Jim Rohn quote rings true after a hundred plus years of it being said for the first time.
It’s just true. So, surround yourself with the right people.
Get those individuals in your life on the regular. A mastermind is a great way to do that.
And until next month, keep your fire burning. Clay Clark is here somewhere. Where’s my buddy Clay? Clay’s the greatest. I met his goats today.
I met his dogs.
I met his chickens.
I saw his compound. He’s like the greatest guy.
I ran from his goats, his chickens, his dogs. So this guy’s like the greatest marketer you’ve ever seen, right? His entire life, Clay Clark, his entire life is marketing. 4 ,000 % from February to February. Now I can better that. Okay, Clay, I don’t think you know this.
I don’t think you know this. I’m pinching myself and if I cry, forgive me. In the last two and a half days, We have bettered our entire month of February and the last two and a half days. So and the phone’s blowing up.
Everything’s just blowing up.
Well you’re right. It is like a rocket ship. So we’re pinching ourselves.
Actually I learned at the Academy King’s Point in New York Octa nonverbal. Watch what a person does. not what they say. But I recognized at the age of 15, I’m going, you know what? I am not going to live that way. And so I started a company out of my parents’ basement called DJConnection .
com, and I decided I am going to have success.
And so I reached out to millionaires and people that I kind of knew through church and friendships and people that, parents of my friends. And I said, what book would you recommend that I read? I’m a 15 year old asking this question, true story. And I kept being told you got to read. Hello, hello, hello. Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad Radio Show.
It’s a good question. time. Also, I think a treacherous time, a spooky time also. But it’s always, you know, danger is a good time. Today, my guest is Clay Clark. And I went out with Tom Wheelwright to visit Clay with Eric Trump also.
And the reason I want to talk to Clay this morning is a very important subject called study. And the reason I say that is things are changing so fast, and many people are completely missing the show. You know, things are changing at rapid, rapid, rapid speed. Technology is changing. So I went to Tulsa, well, again, with Tom Wheelwright and Eric Trump. And the thing I was so impressed about Clay is this word called study.
I don’t know, you guys must be in your water or something, Clay, but boy, I was so, so impressed how big you guys are. But what really impressed me was you have this huge congregation. They’re all about guys your age. They’re on fire. And you start your classes at five in the morning. Now, let me talk to you about study here.
We show our books here. This is how I study. You know, this is the Creature from Jekyll Island. It’s on the Fed. And Clay’s doing the same thing. We study.
So I go out to Clay’s place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He’s built this huge compound out there. And you guys start at 5 o ‘clock in the morning. That’s not by Zoom. They drive there. They show up 5 o ‘clock, bright -haired, bushy -tailed, and all this.
And they’re on fire. Your group is on fire. So that’s what was on. Clay, this technology, you tell your group, I was so, so impressed. Because, like I said, studying… a bad word.
I got into fights in my own company because our staff didn’t want to study anymore. And I just, I don’t know how they can not do that. So Clay, anyway, welcome to the Rich Dad Radio Show. That’s what I want to talk to you about is how do you do it? Five o ‘clock in the morning, you have hundreds of people showing up in your huge, huge, huge auditorium on your property to study. Anyway, welcome to the show, Clay.
What turns you on so much?
That’s what I want to know.
Give us a little about your background. My name is Karime Schofield and the name of our company is Whistle While You Clean.
I am Sophia Schofield. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and we service the tri -state. So Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana.
We were getting a phone call and we were like, why is someone calling our business line? That’s unusual. And we picked it up and it was a lead. I mean, it’s been incredible, Clay. We’ve gone from zero to like 100 % growth. We’re like a full functioning company.
It’s great. We’re blown away at how well we’re doing. So working with you guys, you guys have really taught us a lot about generating leads and pursuing our dream 100. So we have a list of customers that we want to market to. And so we’ve been making phone calls. We’ve been showing up in person.
We’re trying to get near the businesses that they would visit if they were visiting like a hair salon or something. And then we start calling them and we just start pursuing them. And then the other thing that we do is when we do do cleans, we take a lot of video testimonials and we post those to our website so other customers can see. And then we also upload a lot of images of the things that we do. And so We’re also at. our clients for Google reviews after we’ve cleaned their houses.
And so it’s this constant cycle of doing those things over and over and over again. I would say if you’re on the fence, go to one of Clay’s conferences. They are hilarious. They’re fun. They’re educational. They’re so good that even my teenagers like them.
And I would say don’t let fear hold you back. If you want to start a business, do the obvious thing and hire someone who knows how to run businesses. If I wanted to get in shape, I’d hire a gym person, you know, a personal trainer. This is like the personal training for business. It has been absolutely amazing. I mean, our coach is encouraging.
When he first met with us, he said, Do we want him to be like a drill sergeant with us? You know, what level of intensity do we want him to give us? And I will say he is incredibly, incredibly encouraging all the time. And he just hits the same mark with us every single time. It’s very repetitive, but I feel like I think we both really learn a lot every time we sit down and have a conversation with him over the phone. It’s it’s he keeps pushing us to go further and he can recognize when we’re afraid to do something and he’ll give us a little bit of grace.
But that next week he’s drilling us again, like pushing us to go harder. Our no brainer offer is we are offering your first clean for a dollar. And that sounds absolutely insane. It even sounded insane when I was talking over it with our business coach.
And I will tell you that that has generated some of our hugest clients.
I mean, that has been like a game changer because it opened up the door to more clients, more recommendations, more leads.
And we were surprised how far that dollar clean got us. How important has it been for you to work out that scripting even though you offer a dollar for the first clean? How important has it been for you to nail that down?
It’s been really important because it hones in so that you’re not just all over the place when you’re trying to explain what it is that you do.
And a lot of times, it’s like you’re a good person offering a good product and you have integrity and you want to communicate that.
But when you go to communicate without a script or without practice, it’s just like, a mess coming out of your mouth, as opposed to having this, you know, honed in practice where you know what you’re going to say, you know how you’re going to say it, and you can almost expect better results when you do it that way.
Had you ever been an entrepreneur before starting this particular business?
No, never.
Did you ever think about wanting to own your own business someday?
Or what was the first time you thought, you know, maybe I would like to open my own business? Absolutely. I’ve probably been dreaming about it for about 10 years. Okay.
And let me go to your daughter here. Uh, had you ever thought about wanting to team up and open your own business or was that something that you were maybe excited about or not?
Not so much? Well, for me, my parents would always listen to your podcast and business podcast.
And as I started listening to them, I started realizing that I wanted to own a business.
www . whistlewhileyouclean . com. Honestly, the hardest thing was getting over the fear. It was the fear of the unknown. It was there was like a cloud of doubt that, you know, you can’t do this, you’re going to fail.
There was a few sleepless nights there when we did pull the trigger and join your team and start the coaching process. Even my husband put a little bit of pressure on me from time to time because um, it just, it was just absolutely scary to take that jump and actually start a business. You’re an entrepreneur. I’m an entrepreneur. And as they say in stoic, the obstacle is the way.
And so if you let, you let these pinheads get in your way, you’re in trouble. Akhtar Nanverba is the model of the U . S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kingspoint, New York. I had appointments with Naval Academy and Kings Point, Merchant Marine Academy. And Merchant Marine Academy’s motto was octa non verba.
In other words, don’t listen to what a person says, watch what they do. Clay, my honor, my honor to be on your show. And thank you for all you do.
I hear the ripple effects from you are good ripple effects. You know what I mean? People rave about what they learn from you. So congratulations. My name is Kevin Thomas and the name of our company is MultiClean. We are a commercial janitorial service and we serve the entire state of Oklahoma and Kansas and soon to be Arkansas.
We have probably grown probably five times. We’ve added, I think when we first started with you we had 60 to 65 employees and now we have a little over 300 employees. Before we got involved with Thrive Time, we didn’t really have any systems or processes in place. I’ve probably been to, oh, in six, seven years, I’ve probably been to 12 to 13 business conferences. And amazingly, each time I go, I learn something new and I’m so excited to bring it back and show the team about marketing and how to implement, how to help you guys implement the SEO, And the coaching is just great because there’s accountability. And it’s just a fantastic way to grow your company.
Having a relationship with Thrivetimes, it’s just been amazing for multi -claim. Oh my goodness, it frees me up because then I don’t have to take a class on search engine optimization or learn marketing or shoot video. That’s not what we do.
What we do is commercial janitorial service. And you guys were the experts on marketing. teach me and hold my hand and show me how to do it right. And therefore, now my company is much, much larger. Folks, on today’s show, we’re joined by a real client. He may look like a male model.
He may look like a hologram, but he’s a real person.
He’s a longtime client.
He’s a man that we consider to be a friend of The Thrive Time Show and a friend of mine. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the show, Kevin.
Welcome on to The Thrive Time Show.

So, We’re pinching ourselves, actually. I learned at the Academy at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does. not what they say. But I recognized at the age of 15, I’m going, you know what? I am not going to live that way.
And so I started a company out of my parents’ basement called DJConnection .
com. And I decided I am going to have success.
It’s an exciting time. Also, I think a treacherous time, a spooky time also. But it’s always, you know, danger is a good time. Today, my guest is Clint Eastwood.
Clark, and I went out with Tom Wheelwright to visit Clay with Eric Trump also. And the reason I wanna talk to Clay this morning is a very important subject called study. And the reason I say that is things are changing so fast, and many people are completely missing the show. You know, things are changing at rapid, rapid, rapid speed. Technology’s changing. And so I went to Tulsa, again, with Tom Wheelwright and Eric Trump.
And the thing I was so impressed about Clay is this word called study. I don’t know. You guys must be in your water or something, Clay. But boy, I was so, so impressed how big you guys are. But what really impressed me was you have this huge congregation. They’re all about guys your age.
They’re on fire. and you start your classes at five in the morning. Now, let me talk to you about study here. We show our books here. This is how I study. You know, this is The Creature from Jekyll Island.
It’s on the Fed, and Clay’s doing the same thing. We study. So I go out to Clay’s place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He’s built this huge compound out there, and you guys start at five o ‘clock in the morning. That’s not by Zoom. They drive there.
They show up five o ‘clock, bright -haired, bushy -tailed, and all this. And they’re on fire. Your group is on fire. So that’s what was on. Clay, just to acknowledge you, tell your group, I was so, so impressed. Because like I said, studies became a bad word.
I got into fights in my own company because our staff didn’t want to study anymore. And I just, I don’t know how they cannot do that. So Clay, anyway, welcome. the Rich Dad Radio Show.
That’s what I want to talk to you about is how do you do it?
Five o ‘clock in the morning, you have hundreds of people showing up in your huge, huge, huge auditorium on your property to study.
Anyway, welcome to the show, Clay, and what turns you on so much? That’s what I want to know.
Give us a little bit about your background. My name is Karime Schofield, and the name of our company is Whistle While You Clean. I am Sophia Schofield.
We live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and we service the tri -state. So Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana. We were getting a phone call and we were like, why is someone calling our business line? That’s unusual. And we picked it up and it was a lead. I mean, it’s it’s been incredible, Clay.
It’s we’ve had like we’ve gone from zero to like 100 percent growth. Like we’re like a full functioning company. It’s great. Like we were blown away at how well we’re doing. So working with you guys, you guys have really taught us a lot about generating leads and pursuing our dream 100. So we have a list of customers that we want to market to.
And so we’ve been making phone calls, we’ve been showing up in person. And so We’re also asking our clients for Google reviews after we’ve cleaned their houses.
When he first met with us he said, Do we want him to be like a drill sergeant with us?
How important has it been for you to work out that scripting?
Even though you offer a dollar for the first clean, how important has it been for you to nail that down?
It’s been really important.
because it kind of, it hones in so that you’re not just all over the place when you’re trying to explain what it is that you do.
And a lot of times it’s like you’re a good person offering a good product and you have integrity and you want to communicate that.
Uh, had you ever thought about wanting to team up and open your own business or was that something that you were maybe excited about or not, not so much?
Well, for me, my parents would always listen to your podcast and business podcast. And as I started listening to them, I started realizing that I wanted to own a business. www . whistlewhileyouclean . com. Honestly, the hardest thing was getting over the fear.
It was the fear of the unknown. It was there was like a cloud of doubt that, you know, you can’t do this. You’re going to fail. There was a few sleepless nights there when we did pull the trigger and join your team and start the coaching process. Even my husband put a little bit of pressure on me from time to time because it just it was just absolutely scary to take that jump and actually start a business.
