Benjamin Franklin Fun Facts

           1.He only had two years of formal education.

           2. At the age of 12 he was working as a full-time apprentice for his brother’s printing shop.

           3. Ad the age of 16 he was a best-selling writer by writing under the pen-name (secret name)

               of Mrs. Silence Dogood. He wrote in letters to the editor for a weekly paper called the New

               England Courant.

           4. Despite being self-taught he earned an honorary degree from Harvard, Yale, College of

               William and Mary, Oxford and the University of St. Andrews.

           5. He helped to found the University of Pennsylvania.

           6. Franklin became a hit writer as a teenager.

           7. He retired from business at the age of 42 to spend his time focused on higher level  pursuits

               including the invention of the lightning rod, efficient stoves, and working as the leading

               diplomat to help the Colonies to secure the funding and support needed from the French

               to defeat the British.

            8. Franklin designed a musical instrument used by Mozart and Beethoven.
