Avoid the Dream Bermuda Triangle | How to Avoid the Path to Certain Failure – Ask Clay Anything

Show Notes

The proven path for guaranteeing failure involves trying to make “everyone” happy when you must, in fact, focus on solving problems only for your ideal and likely buyers. However, in the attempt to make “everyone” happy and to avoid “criticism” many entrepreneurs often get it wrong. Aristotle once famously wrote, “There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.”

“Where did your dreams go?”

Oh, thrive best business conferences nation. Welcome

back to the thrive time show on your radio and podcast downloads. And on today’s edition of ask me anything I’m. I’m breaking down a best business conferences question that I get asked all the time that chuck, whenever I get asked this question, I feel bad when it gives somebody the honest answer, but I have to give the honest answer because are asking me the question. I mean, that’s the way it works. So the question is about the Bermuda triangle of goals. Now, how much do you know about the Bermuda Triangle? I mean, not a ton. I’ve heard of it. I know that, you know, planes and ships and things seemed to get lost and they go through there, but you know a ton about business coaching, but you’re not a guy who pulls an all nighter every night researching the Bermuda triangle. I’m going to go not so far. I’m going to read this out.

For listeners out there, could it be the Bermuda triangle will put us on the show notes. The Bermuda Triangle is also known as the Devil’s triangle or hurricane alley. It’s a loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic where a number, many aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Most reputable sources dismissed the idea that there’s any mystery. The vicinity of the Bermuda Triangle is amongst the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world with ships frequently crossing through it, through ports coming from Europe, coming from the Caribbean Islands, coming from the Americas, there were. There’s a lot of trees. There’s a lot of ships coming through and therefore a lot of them disappear, but some people believe that it is a paranormal occurrence, a paranormal occurrence, and that’s cool if that’s what you believe, but here’s the idea. Where did your goals go? Like where did your best business conferences dreams go?

Where did you get off track? How old was, how did you become 37 and get here? How did you become 42 and get here? Because chuck is a young kid. When you’re like in third grade, second grade, first grade, what does everybody dreamed to be when they’re first grade? Second Grade, what would he, what would the average person dreaming for me and uh, I do remember wanting to be a trash man at one point because he could ride on the truck. That’s fair. Obviously then, you know, wanted to be an astronaut or a professional athlete or you know, any of these big grandiose things. This is what I don’t hear a lot of people say here. A lot of kids say, I want to be an astronaut or I want to be an athlete or I want to be a leader or president. I don’t hear a lot of real estate.

What I want to do is I want to freaking work at like a mid level management job that I freaking hate and I want to work my tail tail. Didn’t want it to provide insurance, put food on the table, right? Freaking get somebody. You might say, why somebody on your shed. The point is a lot of people don’t have goals about being 37, 45, 52 and hating their life. True, and here is the Bermuda triangle of your dreams, the Bermuda triangle of your goals. This is where dreams go to die and to disappear, to vanish in a way that you cannot possibly understand. It is when your goal becomes to quote unquote help people. Oh, people, everyone. Now you can have a goal to help your ideal and likely buyers. You could have a goal to help your customers who appreciate what you do, but you cannot have a goal to help everybody. And Chuck,

I can’t. We have a call every, everybody. Let’s suppose that I am a New York Yankees and I want to help everybody and the world who loves baseball, why is it not possible?

Well, first of all, maybe not everybody wants your help, so that’s right. That’s one reason the Red Sox, my dad loved the red sox. Red Sox fans hate the acre. Yeah. We’re not like reaching out to each other there. So that’s one reason. And second, you literally can’t. There’s no way. There’s no. Let’s pick on somebody out there in a positive way that you have worked with for a long time. Okay. Who I find to be an incredible person, somebody who I love what they do, and you’ve worked directly with them every week. It’s Ms Dot Deb with her company called the float tank. H Two o wasteless float center h two o waste float center. Please explain to the listeners what the H, two oasis float center does. As I play monk music. It’s very, very appropriate.

Ah, so what they do is it’s also a tea house and as they have tea house and all this stuff, but a flotation center in a flotation tank center or studios is a sensory deprivation chamber and you go into this chamber for an hour and you float in water that has been had seven, eight, 900 pounds of epsom salt added to it so that it’s like floating in the Dead Sea. The water has been heated to the temperature of your skin. The lights are off. There are no smells. You can’t see anything and your brain is unlocked because there is no sensory input for the first time in your life. Okay.

I’m going to say this, we have at least probably 50 percent of the listeners. Probably 50 percent are going. That is freaking cool. So what I’m going to do right now is what was the website chat? How do I get there? I’m going to go there right now. What’s the website to oasis float center. I’ll freaking go there right now because I’m not going to sign up,

but then the other half of the best business conferences audience goes. That’s cool. That’s cool. That sounds great. Really good. Do you know what? I would like that. I’d like to relax a little bit, but there’s there. There’s some people that go to whole foods. They love whole foods. They do this. Justin people do in fact love whole foods, but whole foods doesn’t appeal to everybody. That’s right. So you have to. I mean Atwood’s at woods is one of my favorite stores in the world. They chimay is. They sell wood tools, guns, alarming. What have used farming, what have you. They sell chickens. They sell rabbits, they sell Turkeys, salt lick blocks, salt lick blocks. My Glove, salt lick blocks, they sell so many great practical items, a lot of lawn chairs, a lot of people who work there. I hired my unwelcomed at woods here and over on the overhead announcement you’ll hear Kenny Chesney play.

It’s a great. I mean it’s just a great place to be. You and me going fishing in the dark if you’re looking for to hear country music played as you’re walking through through us and am quality speaker. I love that because you’ll be going through the section. Yeah, you’re going back there to look at some power tools and some car parts and next thing you know, you and me going fishing in the dark when you can help me. I have a special right now on chickens, baby chicks onto. So there’s somebody out there right now listening and you hate Atwood’s. You don’t like it. Somebody out there that you really don’t like float tanks, but somebody out there loves float tanks. Somebody out there that’s passionate about pizza. Somebody out there who’s not in the place that your dreams go to die is to try to build anything that appeals to everybody. Now, aristotle, aristotle, the famous philosopher he wants said, there’s only one way to avoid criticism, to do nothing, to say nothing and be nothing. He says, there is only one way to avoid criticism, to do nothing, say nothing and to be nothing I would say. And we can put that on the show notes. I would say

avoid death by a million compromises and decide who your ideal and likely buyers are today. Again, avoid certain death

by a million compromises and figuring out who your ideal and likely buyers are today. So we have our conference at seven in the morning. We start our conference. We have another conference coming up here on the radio show. If you’re hearing that today, um, our next conference is going to be the 26th of October. So you better act fastest conferences coming up here soon. This is going to be this week. Uh, if you’re listening on the podcast, you’ll probably catch this in November. So December seventh and eighth is the next best business conferences workshop. But Chuck, why do I start our workshop at seven in the morning

because we got stuff to do first of all and we don’t want happy helpers coming in. Um, and kind of dragging everybody down because it is very action focused. Action bias. We want to give you action items that you can take home. And so we want to make sure people that are going to get up and get around, get early and get there so we can get started.

All right? I hate to say what I, why I’m doing this, but this is the deal. The word discrimination means the recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another.

We’ll put it on the show notes. The word discrimination means the recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another. If you are a real entrepreneur or you have what it takes to become one, you have no problem. Waking up at five in the morning to brush your teeth, to get your clothes on and get ready to attend a conference at seven. If you don’t have what it takes to become an entrepreneur, you will struggle to get up at seven, it’ll be too early for you and thus you won’t want to buy a ticket, which is cool because you would hate attending our workshops and I would hate to meet you. We had a guy who came to our workshop one time. It starts at seven in the morning, dude shows up at 10 in the morning, high as a kite. No, I’m not kidding.

This dude is completely high on Colorado Brownies on medical marijuana, whatever it is. He is high as a kite. I think he was from Canada or Minnesota or something before he came in here and I just as a thing where it’s embarrassing, but I had to give him a refund and I had explained to him like, Dude, you keep passing out during the workshop. What were you doing? What’s going on? And he was partying the night before. He’s in a foreign town. He’s partying the night before. He doesn’t have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and blesses weak sauce, boss heart. Um, he’s not going to be successful. The worst thing he could do is go out there and start a company. If you can’t wake up at seven in the morning, you’d have the best business conferences disciplines. If you’re the discipline needed. Discipline is what creates freedom.

Okay? Discipline equals freedom. And if you do not have the discipline, the self discipline needed to get up and to be somewhere and to dress sharp and to be there on time, you’re not going to be successful as an entrepreneur. You just, you’re just not. And that’s why I started our conferences at 7:00 AM. So as a capstone thought out there, the only way to avoid success, the only way for your dreams to be lost and to totally disappear, is to try to create something that appeals to everybody. Avoided the Bermuda triangle of your dreams and goals by figuring out who your ideal and likely buyers are as soon as possible.
