What are some of the ways that you demonstrate your core values or beliefs to your team?

How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated?

George Michael “Micky” Ward Jr. (born October 4, 1965), often known by his nickname of “Irish” Micky Ward, is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2003. He challenged once for the IBF light welterweight title in 1997, and held the WBU light welterweight title in 2000. Ward is widely known for his trilogy of fights with Arturo Gatti (two of which received Fight of the Year awards by The Ringmagazine), as well as his relentless pressure fighting style. In the 2010 film The Fighter, based on his early career, Ward was portrayed by Mark Wahlberg.

ACTION STEPS

  1. Surround yourself with good people
  2. Feed your mind positive food
  3. Understand and embrace the idea that inspiration is the reward. It is not what you need to start

NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off.” – Colin Powell (During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989), as Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Persian Gulf War. Powell was the first, and so far the only, African American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was the 65th United States Secretary of State, serving under U.S. President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, the first African American to serve in that position.)

NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity. An important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people. As you grow, your associates will change. Some of your friends will not want you to go on. They will want you to stay where they are. Friends that don’t help you climb will want you to crawl. Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dream. Those that don’t increase you will eventually decrease you.

Consider this: Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don’t follow anyone who’s not going anywhere. With some people you spend an evening: with others you invest it. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life. Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships. If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl. But, if you associate with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights.

“A mirror reflects a man’s face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses.”

The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate – for the good and the bad.

Note: Be not mistaken. This is applicable to family as well as friends. Yes…do love, appreciate and be thankful for your family, for they will always be your family no matter what. Just know that they are human first and though they are family to you, they may be a friend to someone else and will fit somewhere in the criteria above.” – Colin Powell (During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989), as Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Persian Gulf War. Shout Outs – “I heard about your book on the Thrivetime show podcast! Absolutely love the show and listen regularly!!” – Laura C

“I started a professional home organizing business about 3 weeks ago now. I have a few appointments scheduled in the weeks to come from my sphere of influence, but in order to expand I’m thinking about making cold calls. I plan to call people who have their home on the market and are planning on moving soon. I am hoping to book appointments to help with either staging and organizing their home to help it sell quickly OR for moving services (packing their house or unpacking their home after they move).  My question is: What are the best things to say over the phone to establish rapport quickly and book appointments? I plan to offer a free 1 hour consultation, but most in my business also do this. I’m trying to find my purple cow and a script to help convert these cold calls into clients.”
