  1. Focus On Core task Until Success

NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Great people bore down when others suffer from boredom.” – Clay Clark

  • Smartphones make it impossible for you to block out emotional inputs and to focus:
    1. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “In the future, the great division will be between those who have trained themselves to handle these complexities and those who are overwhelmed by them — those who can acquire skills and discipline their minds and those who are irrevocably distracted by all the media around them and can never focus enough to learn.” – Robert Greene (Best-selling author of Mastery)
    2. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “We need to re-create boundaries. When you carry a digital gadget that creates a virtual link to the office, you need to create a virtual boundary that didn’t exist before.” – Daniel Goleman (Best-selling author of Emotional Intelligence – New York Times best-selling author and clinical psychologist)
    3. FACT – “Here’s another disturbing stat: This tally seems to increase daily, but by one study’s count, the typical smartphone user interacts with their phone around 85 times per day. And this often includes middle-of-the-night checks for work emails and new “likes.” – https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/startup-your-life/201801/why-your-smartphone-is-destroying-your-life
    4. FACT – Why Your Smartphone Is Destroying Your Life – “New research found that our memory capacity, ability to process data, and general intelligence improves significantly when our smartphone is completely out of sight — in a bag or another room altogether. Think that turning it on silent, face down, will remedy the problem? Nope. The mere sight of the phone diminishes your cognitive resources.
    5. Additionally, a visible phone in a social setting measurably decreases the depth of the interaction, creating more superficial social exchanges.
    6. This is huge: scrolling obsessively through social media isn’t the only smartphone battle you need to wage. Just seeing the overpriced device plays games with your brain (and your brain is losing, for the record).
    7. Here’s another disturbing stat: This tally seems to increase daily, but by one study’s count, the typical smartphone user interacts with their phone around 85 times per day. And this often includes middle-of-the-night checks for work emails and new “likes.”
    8. We’re so obsessed that there’s now a word to describe a fear of being without your phone: “Nomophobia.”
    9. This type of long term heavy use comes at a price. Studies link it to hand, neck, and back issues, anxiety, depression, disrupted sleep, diminished attention span, antisocial behavior, decreased empathy — the list goes on.
    10. So what should we do about this smartphone tsunami that’s wreaking havoc on our lives, bodies, brains, and relationships?
    11. There are two paths to improving this situation. The first involves a transformation of the technology and the platforms that suck us into its incessant use. Fortunately, some companies are recognizing the addictive nature of their platforms and at least starting to pay lip service to design for “good.” (Cause if you think the addictive nature of these designs is “random,” you are greatly underestimating the monetary value of your obsessive attention — and the desire of companies to capitalize on knowing how to attract and maintain that attention(link is external).)” – Psychology Today – https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/startup-your-life/201801/why-your-smartphone-is-destroying-your-life
  • You must embrace the concept that time is your most valuable asset
    1. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.” – Steve Jobs (Co-founder of Apple and former CEO of PIXAR)
    2. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” – Steve Jobs (Co-founder of Apple and former CEO of PIXAR)
    3. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “You are the average of the five people you most associate with.” – Tim Ferriss (The Four Hour Work Week)

  1. Be Proud of the Things That You Say “No” To
  1. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “I’m as proud of many of the things we haven’t done as the things we have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things.” – Steve Jobs (Co-founder of Apple and former CEO of PIXAR)

  2. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have.” – John C. Maxwell (The New York Times best-selling author of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership)
  3. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “You’ve got to know what you want. This is central to acting on your intentions. When you know what you want, you realize that all there is left then is time management. You’ll manage your time to achieve your goals because you clearly know what you’re trying to achieve in your life.” – Patch Adams (The 1998 film Patch Adams was based on Adams’ life and views on medicine. Adams has heavily criticized the film, saying it eschewed an accurate representation of his beliefs in favor of commercial viability. He said that out of all aspects of his life and activism, the film portrayed him merely as a funny doctor.)
  4. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Achievement is talent plus preparation.” – Malcolm Gladwell

What region welcome back to this very special occasion, as we talked about dealing with the distraction that will keep you from the actions that will help you live your passion, satisfaction you professed your love street performers, I loved you before me, a question that is hard hitting question right here. If I took the same street, performers and I put them in an auditorium, would you have the same love for them? The thing I love about this is this is just maybe a deeper answer:i love anybody who master something as a result of obsessing on it. Well past the level of where they’re great so I’ll just give example. We were in las vegas. You can find this guy on youtube type in the hip, hop violinist in las vegas on business conferences youtube and you’ll find a job when you put on the show. But. This guy has an electric violin in he is so good, but he also dances while playing and he’s ridiculously good at dancing and ridiculously good at playing the violin and then he’s also good at hyping it up a lot last name, a song named a song about 40 I mean he could do it in until get the groove in the melody in the course, but then he plays in the way were people that are into classical music. Just are you kidding me another street vendor I sent a whole for new one time is venice wow.

Where was he part of this trip is not one of the overpass bridges that was connecting a while, then there’s another guy who he throws a drumstick to you and the deal was. If you drop it, then you owe him a 20 or whatever you have in cash now. If he drops it, then he owes you, but you never dropped it. So he’s playing his understanding, how you can hit like a pan and a bucket and a cowbell and make these noises me out of his pocket, and you can just come in las vegas, street drummer. You can see what’s going on him and he throws it and he throws it and then now he throws in the guy who drops it and he’s like all pops. Please talk to you, hey business conferences pops. We can do a better now, but the he’s talking to the audience of walking by so we were walking by oh yeah. Is it is crazy thing, a figure 8 with him. Then he gets out for drumsticks and i. Just love, I love the wine guy that can. He pays his body gold for, like the day, I’m waiting this guy this guy out. What’s really weird, is whenever you’re walking up and down to visit barcelona to in vegas I’ve seen all around the world. You know there’s those guys with your. The kind of creepy is when you see them set up or there or their breaking down and walk it off. Cuz you’re going to go on and right there michael jackson guy, blew my mind in vegas. To again this is the michael jackson business conferences impersonator. This is a guy who’s, not quote-unquote good enough for the connection to become the impersonator since you’re outside of the venue sure, and it got the circus soleil michael jackson impersonator guy, and it’s like he’s out there doing all of the dance moves and just nails I’m going to have to practice. Does the flips over the concrete? How do you know you’re good at that? Only how do you know like 7 people and do a flip over anybody who focuses on something until I master it and it’s?

What I want to share with you, mister mister misses listener is focus, means focus on your core tasks until success focus on a quart ask until success I’m going to start with you, mr. West I want to ask you. How long. Have you been an attorney I’ve been an attorney for a little over a decade, but I’ve been working in law firms for close to 20 years? When did you decide you wanted to be an attorney? What age were you approximately 13813 wow? So you stayed focus on that idea into how old are you right now, 3722 I mean you’re. Mine looks like it’s like a very seasoned z. He has no dementia like I’ve got solid 80s. He doesn’t have a lot of dementia. I mean it’s like it’s like I’m like, an eagle when. Did you want to become an optometrist? Oh I want to be a doctor, and then it was kind of a journey of what type of doctor and so I actually decided on optometrist when I was about a freshman in college. I got kind of you know, i, never got that you don’t hate people aren’t coming in. Like super sick, you know you’re, not it’s not an emergency business conferences situation. It’s got that kind of business. Have doctrine people happy when they leave. You know cuz, you, you got people see better and that’s just envisioned a big deal. You get to sell stuff, get to sell stuff to be self-employed for whatever you know, I’m. Never watching my dad deliver pizzas. When he’s 37 I like I’m, going to own my own thing and then I wanted to do a radio show since i, remember, i, told vanessa I wanted your radio show as 18 years old, we weren’t even married, yet I told her that, well, that’s pretty cool I brought it to you. I mean you nearly wept. You were so excited it was. It was incredible. You’re looking for the new idea, this is this is going to be the big knowledge bomb for somebody out there.

Great business conferences people bore down bored, as everybody else suffers from board up greatness boards down with other people suffer from board up. So occasionally even the great’s want to try something else, because they realize, like i, do the same thing over and over and I think about. It would know better example that I can I give listeners dan the story of michael jordan michael jordan, obviously known, as we argue, with the best basketball player of all time. Arguing with certain point. He’d want I mean 3 championships in a row. It was kind of easy swing. The scoring title for him is the mvp any. It looks like it was easy he’s playing a different level, so he decide you want me to do I’m going to retire and play baseball now. The problem is the people who are playing professional, baseball, z, they’ve kind of master that skill yeah. That’s why they’re playing professional baseball so he’s batting like 180 to 187 210 and that he’s hitting the ball baseball fans for not hitting at least like to 8290 you’re, not going to go on and play business conferences professionally in the major leagues you’re, just not going to happen. So what happened to see certain people over time? They start to say I want to try the next thing, but do they always realize I spent 10000 hours doing this thing and now I’m really good at it, and so in order to be great that I’m going to have to spend 10000 more hours, which is what the book outliers is all about. We come back from the break. I want to break down some notable quotable from the book outliers, because this book breaks down supposed sickly how people become truly great at something all the people out. There book breaks down the story of the beatles. It breaks down the story of really really good professional hockey players. It breaks down how they did it’s a phenomenal book. It’s called outliers and he just studies super ridiculously successful people. He realizes that people that have the capacity to spend 10000 hours at something always get to be really great at it, but people that move on after about a thousand hours or so never become truly great at anything. But it’s like clark hills me to the flat time show welcome back to the thrive time business conferences.

Radio show the place where the business world finds all of their business conferences coaching and marketing solutions for less than 8:25 for our learning more at drivetime show.Com. What are the earth is flat or nots cast professional athletes. Alright, rebelution welcome back to the drive time show on your end, so I just tapping into my treasure trove. What is a treasure? Trove street vendors, so I’m going to read a massive amount of notable quotable diamond, a fire pit out of a coil and i. Don’t have each one of you guys break down the double coiled blind study to see. Can you bring it to double line? Jobs says I’m as proud of the things we haven’t done, as the things we have done. Innovation to me is saying no to a thousand thanks, steve jobs, absolutely I mean think about it. I’m an apple is worth more than the other business in the world. Why should people thinking about the math I mean the financial stuff, so the guy that the guy that ran his vision and what he did had to be great I mean when he first took over what he walked in the department said what your number one hit. This is what’s crazy. If you get a chance to read the book about steve jobs I am steve jobs or if you can I listen to the audio book, one of the things that he did really freaked out, people that haven’t been around him yet and he came back and he got fired from his own job. She comes back. George lucas had to be distant. That had to be pretty awesome thing about. The story goes okay. He got fired from his job and he started a company called next to build the software and next is developing a lot of cutting edge software technology on hardware and so he’s working a deal for apple to buy the technology from next to make apple butter company. So he’s doing that his buddy george lucas is going through divorce and george lucas.

The guy started. Star wars says hey I’m, going through a divorce. If I really don’t want to lose my baby pics are you know we’re in the process of trying to make some movies we never made. They never made a movie, not you not like over a decade. So what are you doing over? There isn’t working on like animation, eventually I could new star wars movie, princess leia is obviously did carrie fisher. All of the new disney movies that are coming out are all pixar movies. He’s working this coming up pixar, it hasn’t made any money yet, but so steve jobs goes in. There makes the team. What do you work out? One story called toy story. Another story called:is this movie called that and all these animators use me I’m used to the people, aren’t aware of the game and they’re like immediately shut down. You are forbidden from doing any production, any thought any work. I want your whole heart your whole head on this movie. They rushed through a focus on it. Toy story becomes the top movie of the year. When the top movies of the decade great business conferences mood I can work. He made more money off of being the ceo of pixar, then he made being the ceo of apple or the other see you again ahead of apple the founder of apple, those previous 15 years. Next is being purchased by apple technology, and he said you guys are kind of in the crapper and he’s talking to the board, and if you want to buy the technology and here’s the deal, I have to be in charge and they’re like what I have a hair at you already.

So I have a move until we’re struggling with cash. We don’t have enough cash and we know who’s not spoiling you cash so being prosecuted for a monopolistic business ventures. He says bill the way. I remember it is microsoft, never tried to monopolize, not monopolize the business conferences market. We work, trust it out. I thought you hated. It was free now, i. Remember you being very friendly, a very good fair partner, very easy to compete with. You would never try to force your computer’s to be put onto pcs at the power. Of course, not I will be happy to testify under a court of law that i. Remember it that way. If you would be happy to vast, a hundred million dollars are so that we need to make apple work. Are you kidding me? Oh no I’m, not no I’m not have their address where steve job gets up there and he always introduced people wearing the jeans and the shirt does the state of the state of the company and it was like a rockstar energy bill gates speaks at the steve jobs apple event. I have a friend of mine was an announcement to make it it’s a video of bill gates any psych with a hundred million dollar capital infusion. My excitement to see the growth of our trusted competitor, nfl of innovator apple. A short is steve job talk to her that window of time he focused on getting funding and he knew the only way to do it was to butter up his arch-rival and that’s how we say pick up that the company comes back and he realizes the only way to not go bankrupt. Now they have the money is to make sure they make a hit product. So he tells all the developers hey guys. I want you to identify the your favorite product and its apartments department fun games. They said imac was willing to work on the ipod they’re working on these different 200 products. Are they favorite one now move yeah sure, okay I’ll go over here, and he starts physically going away all the prototypes of all the other products, and so he just had that ability to focus. Now. You think about john maxwell he’s the best selling author of a book called the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, and he is focused on what becoming the world’s number one leadership expert is the leadership guy. He says this year was card.

He says time. Management is really an oxymoron time is beyond our control and our clock keeps ticking regardless of how we live our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have priority management west. Why is it so important? How many hours a day you work is only 24 hours in a day you can’t change out that’s a law of nature, so you have to appropriate what you’re going to work on within a lot of time and you have to fill in time for family fitness fun. You know all the apps that you talk about, so you can’t manage time to squeeze more time into your day. You have to pick what you’re going to focus on what you’re going to spend your limited time on to accomplish tasks. Then the only way to do that is to take out the things that don’t matter as much the characters of the movie that the 1998 hit film, williams, patch, adams based on, couldn’t be here today busy guy. This is central to act on your intentions. We know what you want. You realize that all there at left. All there is left, then, is time management you’ll manage your time to achieve your goals, because you clearly know what you’re trying to achieve your life? Is he in our in-person workshop? We we break it down. We have 13 13 areas. Yes, where would you rank business conferences time management ever won the couch to both of you deal with a lot of businesses all the time and now I know how many times do you hear I just made an attempt to be easy to execute all the steps boom? If you don’t know what it’s impossible, that is chop at the foundational things that we teach to any of our new clients right and what are the things that I think people get frustrated with, as they think it’s like beneath them to study managing your calendar. But it’s really the most important thing. So there’s three quick moves. Everybody can do right now.

One have one calendar, don’t have to turn in my personal calendar and work calendars at 1, and then we won’t miss soccer games and miss events and infusion miss miss community one life one calendar to-do list in print that baby out. If you keep it on your smartphone every time you go on your smartphone to check it. You’ll be distracted. Third move is wake up everyday 30 minutes before you see a human or stay up an hour after you’ve. Seen your last human and plan out your day be intentional.. To-do list now big take. He says achievement is talent plus, preparation, preparation. Well, if you’re not prepared for the day, you’re not going to be able to operate at your peak performance and what you got to do as a business owner is schedule out that met a time like we talked about that’s time outside of the the organized chaos of a business conferences day. That’s time outside the burning fires, where you working on your business and not edit, your building systems are planning strategy, you’re planning out your day, you’re building your calendar and your to-do list so that you’re on autopilot and you’re ready to go once the fires of the day hit out there. What is something it’s taking just an hour of your week of your time back? What is that worth to you and one thing that I identified was sending our key teammates to go to office depot to buy print car just doesn’t make any sense, make good use of resources to pay full price for brand new cartridges when you can get them for 70% off 80% off of why don’t you get the office supplies delivered to our office?
