Clay, you’re an entrepreneur, I’m an entrepreneur, and as they say in Stoic, the obstacle is the way. And so if you let these pinheads get in your way, you’re in trouble. Octononverba is the motto of the U . S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kingspoint, New York. I had appointments with Naval Academy and Kingspoint Merchant Marine Academy.
And Merchant Marine Academy’s motto was octononverba. In other words, don’t listen to what a person says. Watch what they do. Clay, my honor, my honor to be on your show and thank you for all you do. I hear the ripple effects from you are good ripple effects. You know what I mean?
People rave about what they learn from you.
So congratulations. My name is Kevin Thomas and the name of our company is MultiClean. We are a commercial janitorial service and we serve the entire state of Oklahoma and Kansas and soon to be Arkansas. We have probably grown probably five times. I think when we first started with you, we had 60 to 65 employees, and now we have a little over 300 employees. Before we got involved with Thrive Time, we didn’t really have any systems or processes in place.
In six, seven years, I’ve probably been to 12 to 13 business conferences and Amazingly, each time I go, I learn something new and I’m so excited to bring it back and show the team about marketing and how to help you guys implement the SEO. The coaching is just great because there’s accountability. It’s just a fantastic way to grow your company. Having a relationship with Thrivetimes, it’s just been amazing for multiclaim. Oh my goodness, it frees me up because then I don’t have to take a class on search engine optimization or learn marketing or shoot video. That’s not what we do.
What we do is commercial janitorial service. And you guys were the experts on marketing. And you teach me and hold my hand and show me how to do it right.
And therefore, now my company is much, much larger. Folks, on today’s show, we’re joined by a real client. He may look like a male model. He may look like a hologram. But he’s a real person. He’s a longtime client.
He’s a man that we consider to be a friend of The Thrive Time Show and a friend of mine. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the show, Kevin. Welcome on to The Thrive Time Show.
How are you, sir? Clay, I’m doing great. I had a great Christmas holiday.
And I’m glad to be here. OK, so first question, can you tell us, what is your name, first and last name?
And what’s the name of your company, sir? My name is Kevin Thomas and the name of our company is MultiClean.
We are a commercial janitorial service and we serve the entire state of Oklahoma and Kansas and soon to be Arkansas.
And how long have we worked with you approximately at this point, sir?
It’s been about six, seven years. Welcome back to the Mail K show. And we are excited because people are getting motivated. They’re looking at the future and they’re saying, what’s my future going to be? They’re not leaving it to anyone else. At least if you watch the Mail K show, you know, it is about every single citizen deciding their own destiny.
And right now is the time. And a great person to help you do that is our great friend, Clay Clark. And he’s back with us today to talk a little bit about how you can make your dreams into a business and then scale the business and take control of your life.
Thank you for joining me, sir. Hey, thank you. And I will tell you, I’ll be talking to three of your longtime listeners later today that have reached out. They’ve gone to Thrivetimeshow . com.
They’ve scheduled a consultation.
We have an acupuncturist. Okay. We have a hair salon. And then we have a guy who has a, he’s in California and he has a delivery. It’s a moving and delivery company. He’s like a U -Haul, but he actually moves.
He’s a moving company kind of thing. So he rents the vehicles and he does the moving.
So we’re talking to some of you, the great Mel K folks today.
And Mel, I’ve got some good news for your listeners.
Go ahead.
Ready? OK.
So here we go.
If you’re watching today’s show, your life doesn’t have to be what it’s always been up to now. Right. So if you’re watching today’s show and you’re going, you know what? My business is not where I want it to be. You don’t have to accept that as your normal. And so what I’m going to talk about today, the big topic is, can you adjust the thermostat of your life, your new normal?
So let’s just pretend for a second. You’re watching today’s show. And you’re watching today’s show from a beautiful home like one of your listeners who’s in California. I’m sure it’s 70 degrees where they live almost every day because they’re in that San Diego area. But imagine you’re used to your thermostat in your home always being 70. You’re watching this show and you’re used to 70.
And you come home from a day of work and it’s 77 degrees in your house. And you know somebody has adjusted the thermostat because it feels hotter than it should be. And you’re going, I don’t know. So my wife and I, every time we hop in a car, this is what happens. We drive and my wife turns on the heat a little bit, the heat. And then when she’s not looking, I turn on the cold a little bit.
We play this game and then eventually we laugh as we catch each other messing with the thermostat. But all I’m saying is somebody out there, you’re used to living the cold. at barely just getting by. We’ll call it job, J -O -B, just over broke. You’ve been living just over broke, J -O -B, for a long time. just over broke and maybe you went back to college, maybe you’ve taken courses, maybe you’ve taken seminars, and maybe you’ve even pursued a PhD.
But what I’m gonna teach you today is how you can move from just over broke with getting what I call a PhD, which is pig -headed discipline, all right?
So we’re gonna walk you through how to go beyond just over broke with a little pig -headed discipline.
So Mel, with your permission, I’ll break it down. Let’s do it. All right, so the first thing we wanna do is we gotta figure out what Are we going to be doing 12 months from now? So I want to get a sheet of paper, and I want you to write down, where are you going to be 12 months from now? Where are you going to be 12 months from now? So I remember I had this wonderful opportunity.
I was invited by yourself and Rob to come out and meet you guys. And I remember telling you, I’ll be there. And you said, great. And you treated my wife and I first class.
But it starts with step number one.
You’ve got to make a commitment. You got to show up. Yeah. You got to make it. It can’t be like, oh, Mel, I’ll try to make it to Florida. And folks, I have five kids.
One of them is always sick. Somebody is always, it just rotates. Whoever’s sick, you know, somebody always has a choir practice or a church performance or a gymnastics event or a drum lesson or somebody. I mean, seriously, somebody always has. But I had to commit. I had to say, Rob, I’ll be there.
And you had to say, OK. So we got it. Step one. And Rob, I think a lot of people, we want to have success. I grew up poor.
But that first step is committing.
I want to get your thoughts. Because when you guys decided to commit to doing this show, do you remember what was happening with you and Mel or any of those conversations when you said, we’re going to do a show and not just try to do a show, but we’re actually going to do the show? 100%. And there was a lot of give and take there in the beginning, and it was really about fear, anxiety, and doubt. So the way it happened is that we were together in New York. We got locked down.
And Mel was doing some shows and we were we were we had this righteous indignation. And we were just we were kind of pissed off about what they were doing to our kids.
And they were trying to with the mandates and the lockdowns and the the the businesses that were what would they call them?
You know, the essential essential businesses. Right. Yeah. And and we and we couldn’t work anyway. Mel was doing some shows. Everyone said, Mel, you should do a show.
You should do a show. You should do a show. And, you know, I’m an old banker. I don’t know anything about media. And Melza, she’s a media person, but she’s not a technology person. And we had some friends that said, oh, I’ll help you.
I’ll help you. And I’m like, you know what? One day, I just said, Mel, we’re just going to do the show. It was Sunday morning. We flipped up the laptop in the bedroom, and we turned a light on, and she started talking.
And that started the journey. That started our connection.
to our amazing audience, to you and everything else.
And it took a little bit of courage to face that fear, but we did it and it turned into an entirely new set. A new life. A new life, friends, everything, opportunities. So if you’re watching today’s show, I want you to think folks, I’m just, it could be a kind of a weird show, a lot of silence right now, but I want you to just take a second. I’m not a new ager. I happen to be a Christian, but in like a meditative, thoughtful, sincere way, if we can all just have a little bit of a shift and think, where am I now?
And where do I want to be? And I’ll take you back to my basement. And I was 15 and my dad’s like, what are you doing down here, son? My dad, may he rest in peace. My dad comes down. You can pray for him.
He was 6 ‘5″, 6 ‘6″. He comes down to the basement. You can pray for his eternal soul watching this happen. He comes downstairs. He passed away recently, but he came downstairs at this time, and he was my dad. I’m 15 years old.
He comes down. He looks around, and he’s going, what have you done to the walls down here? And in the basement, I go, well, I put up a Carl Malone poster on the Utah Jazz. He’s an athlete I admire. I put up him. I put Jerry Rice up on the wall, you know, friend with the poster.
I put a framed picture of my favorite rapper. I put a picture of he’s like, what are you doing? I’m like, I’ve transformed the basement into an environment that I find to be inspiring. And because you only come down here like maybe once a week or whatever, I’m asking you to go with me on this fantastic voyage, because I know we’re not doing well financially. But I really, really cannot live in poverty. I just can’t.
It’s not going to happen for me. I’m going to have success. And it’s just going to happen. And when it happens, it’s just going to be, it’s just going to happen. ” And he’s like, Okay, so my mom comes down and my mom, I’m not mocking my mom, if my mom’s watching this, she knows, but she comes down and she’s like, well, what have you written on the walls? What are you writing on the wall? I’m like, um.
I’m writing how my life’s going to be, and that’s on the walls. And I mean, to her credit, it looked like there was like someone had lost their mind. It was like a scene from like the aviator or something downstairs in my basement. I mean, it was just this really weird Howard Hughes, like, I’m going to get it done thing. And over time, you know, my parents are like, what are you doing now? This is over a period of weeks.
I’m like, I got a job at the pizza factory. I got a job at the Norseman and I got a job at the construction place. And they go, you work in construction? Yeah. For Mr. Lund, we go to church with him. What are you doing?
I’m saving up money. I’m going to buy some JBL TR -225 speakers. My mom’s like, what is that? I’m like, they’re on the wall. They shall be mine, JRTR225. And then she’s like, what else are you gonna buy?
And I’m like, microphones, an SM58. It’s a durable microphone that’s omnidirectional. I need to get that. She’s like, why? I’m like, because I’m building a DJ company. And it was just like this myopic, and pretty soon boxes start showing up.
I’m getting stuff shipped in to my house. My dad is like, what are you doing? I’m like, I’m shipping speakers. And I met a guy at Guitar Center named Joey Shake. And I said, Joey, I’m going to buy equipment from you someday, my friend. And then months later, I’m buying, I’m not kidding.
I’m buying like 30, 40 ,000. I’m a 15, 16 year old kid. I’m buying $40 ,000 of speakers and lights and stuff. And my friends are like, where are you getting all this? Are you running drugs? What are you doing?
I said, no, I’ve got three jobs. I’m going to pizza factory. Lund poured walls. I remember talking to Gordy, my boss. I said, Gordy, is there any way I can work every single hour of the day? I mean, this summer when I’m done with school, I’ll work every single hour.
I will get there at 4 a . m. I swear to you, I’ll work till midnight. Just make me a slave. Make me a slave, Gordy, come on, make me a slave. He’s like, stop it.
I’m like, make me a slave. So anyway, he puts me on the schedule 80 hours a week.
I’m not kidding.
And so somebody, you gotta just, right now, you’ve gotta escape that monotony of go to work, go to church, Go home, we gotta escape. So step one, we gotta commit. So commitment number one I’m asking you to make right now, not in a spiritual sense, but I’m saying, could you go to thrivetimeshow . com? Could you go to thrivetimeshow . com?
Tim Tebow has committed, he says, I am going to be there. Just like when he played football, someone handed him the ball, the ball was hiked to him, and Tim committed to the receiver, I’m gonna get the ball to you. He committed, I’m gonna be in Tulsa, June 5th, June 6th, okay? Just Eric Trump has committed, I’m gonna be here in September, Okay, it’s committed, I’m gonna be here in September. Amanda Grace, I’m gonna be here in September. We’re all gonna commit, we’re gonna be there, so can you just commit?
taking action? So go to thrivetimeshow . com, commit to taking action. You say, well, this sounds like a really weird form of sales manipulation. You can name your price. You can literally pay any price you want to pay, any price at all, $250 or whatever price you want to pay.
I get it. We all need to hand up from time to time. Step number two, you got to do the math. It seems like the opposite of motivation. You have to do the math. And so I remember in my basement, my dad, I remember these conversations.
My dad used to have the fitness flyer. It was like a non, it was like a low impact way to get in shape. You know, my dad, former athlete, he’s on the fitness flyer trying to ski his way to fit. And my dad’s like, well, how much is it gonna cost to start your company? And I’m going, I had it nailed down. I mean, I was like $52 ,802 .76.
I mean, I’d done the math with the tax, the whole thing. And he’s going, And where are you going to get gigs? And I go, I’m going to cold call every single school in Minnesota, and then I’m going to do a yellow page ad. And he’s going, how much is a yellow page ad? I’m like, it’s $1 ,500 a month. He’s like, how do you know that?
I’ve called the yellow page people. I mean, it’s just, it’s like, you got to move into the math phase.
And Mel, I think some people, If we’re not careful, we don’t want to do the math.
You’ve interviewed the who’s who on your show, and you continue to do so. But the reality is, Catherine Austin Fitts and Roseanne and these people that love being on your show, you had to go through a certain number of rejections before you earned the respect and the rapport and the relationship with the Caviezel’s and with the Jim Brewer’s. And these people are your friends now. But to get there, You had to deal with some rejections, and I think somebody, Mel, is watching this right now, and they haven’t sat down and done the math and thought about, how many rejections do I need to book Roseanne? What would you say, Mel, to somebody watching today’s show, and they’re just kind of afraid of that whole rejection thing? What do you say?
Well, you forget that I also moved to Hollywood in my very early 20s, and I went through more rejection than anyone could possibly imagine, as everyone does. It’s very hard, but you have to. It’s part of it. And, you know, I look at all of my failures as giving me the edge to get to where I was, to not fear it. But, you know, in any kind of art scenario or in starting a small business or whatever we’re talking about, you have to steel yourself for the idea that rejection is part of making it.
And and, you know, for me, I knew early on in Hollywood, at least as a writer, like 10 years to an overnight success is pretty much best case scenario for a writer. Right there in Hollywood. So the rejection was was something I was used to.
And then, of course, with with the Mel K show, it was like we were kicked off purged from YouTube in twenty twenty ban for life. And, you know, I could have panicked and said, oh, it’s never going to work. But then Rob and I sat down and said, OK, well, there’s this new rumble and we can go here and we can go there. So, I mean, it’s an endless cycle. But I tend to find that rejection, if it happens, usually leads you in a better direction if you keep moving forward. I would even think It’s a very big part of success is failure and moving forward.
It’s actually critical in any process. Anyone who’s ever tried to sell anything, you might learn that actually not everyone wants to buy what you’re selling. So, or, you know, I was in finance for a long time and, you know, a lot of times we were trying to raise money for companies and sometimes people say they want to, and sometimes people say they don’t.
That’s part of success. of the process. That’s part of the machine. And you learn the most from the from the challenges and the failures because the successes feel great and they’re easy and they happen. You’re like, woo, that was great. But you don’t learn that much from that.
And you only have three. You only have three ways that I’ve ever discovered. I work with thousands of clients. There’s only three ways. that I teach my clients to overcome rejection. There’s only three that I’ve ever come up with.
One is you can just be dumb, and I mean this with all sincerity. One of my clients is hilarious, and he always jokes. It’s kind of a character he’s created for himself, but he has kind of the joke where he’s not that smart, but he is smart, but it’s kind of like a character. He’s almost created kind of a Tim Allen character that he does, and he’s always like, why ain’t that smart? But I know if I call them all, I’m gonna sell something. But he is a smart guy.
He just likes to kind of have that swagalicious flow. He builds houses and he happens to be on the East Coast and big, big, beautiful mansions. But when he meets with people, he kind of, well, I’ll tell you what, I ain’t, I ain’t perfect, but I’m going to get your house done on time and on budget. Right. You know, but he’s like, he just has that kind of sweat, but it’s like, you can be kind of, if you’re, if you’re dumb, sometimes it helps just to be, and I’ve never seen the guy get worked up. If something bad happens, he’s out.
Well, I’ll tell you what, didn’t kill me. You know, just, okay. That’s kind of my thing. This second is you can be numb and numb. And that’s what Eric Trump does. By the way, Eric Trump is numb.
He and I’ve talked about this. I’m helping him on his new book. And he talks about he just he’s got to a place where he’s so used to being subpoenaed and sued and attacked. And he just recognizes, you know what, if I’m in a room. There’s probably somebody filming me without my permission. If I’m coming home, I open the mail, there’s probably a subpoena there waiting for me.
And that’s just my life. So you can do dumb or numb. And then the third is you can sip on Hayterade. What am I saying? Hayterade, like Gatorade. So you can somehow find a way to sip on the bitterness and turn it into betterness.
Somehow let it motivate you.
And I wanna show you an example.
I’m gonna pull up the screen real quick here. This is a fun one. I’m not in this photo, so everyone’s gonna like it. But this was the Easter gathering America’s it’s an invited list. You couldn’t buy a ticket. I could not get a ticket.
Hello. I could not get a ticket. I wanted a ticket. I could not get a ticket. This is not some bizarre kind of self deprecation that this is real. I could not get a ticket.
Maybe other people wanted to, I couldn’t get a ticket. You got Jensen Franklin in there. He was there.
President Trump’s there.
This is like, you only get to go if you’re invited, okay? And one of my good friends, the pastor of the church that I go to and the church that I work with, this is Pastor Jackson Laumeyer. Look at him just cheesing. Look at him. He’s like, we’re having the Easter pastor’s dinner.
And he’s one of the 15 invited pastors in all of America.
I loved it. Now I can tell you this guy, I’ll pull up his church, he has been rejected so much. He started his church, he took over a church in 2017 and he would go downtown Tulsa and pick up kids, this is not a pro tip by the way, he would pick up kids in the white church van and play basketball with him. And when I met him, he had such a big vision, such a big passion, and he knew where he was going. But the rejection he’s had from people that have said, you know what? You’re not good enough to be on my show.
You know what? You’re not the kind of pastor we want to speak at our event. And when we invited him to speak at the Reawaken America tour, that was like his first big opportunity. And he nailed it. And now here he is, an advisor to President Trump. Look at him.
He’s right there within four feet of him. Some other photos I can show you. These are kind of fun. This is him. He’s not making the Illuminati’s hand symbol. We’ll have to talk about hand gestures, but there he is.
Okay, then he’s got here, President Trump is signing something for him right there. Here he is, he’s with his signed President Trump invitation. There he is. And so Pastor Jackson and I, Pastor Jackson is organizing an event for these pastors, which by the way, coincides with our June conference. If you’re coming to our June conference, If you’re coming to our June conference and you use promo code Mel K, you get to have a VIP ticket at a discount if you want. And so you can come to the VIP dinner where Tim Tebow is going to be there.
Colton Dixon’s going to be there. He’s a top 40 Christian artist. Jackson will be here. This is the number one spot. on TV and right now, Eric Stockelbach. But these are all things you can do, but again, just recapping here, step number one, somebody out there, you’re saying, what are we doing?
Step number one, commit. Find a way, I’m going to get to you. to the conference, I’m going to start my DJ company, I’m going to start a home building company, I’m going to launch a podcast, move on from like I’m going to try and move into I’m gonna do. The second is do the math, do the math, sit down, have a sober moment, do the math. The third is go ahead and have confidence. Now confidence, again, I’m not a spiritual leader, I’m just giving people advice that may be spiritual, so here you go.
You wanna confide in yourself that in this instance, You are doing what God has called you to do. And then all fear goes away. Confidence. You want to confide in yourself during this instance that you’re doing what God has called you to do. That is why when you and I have been stage side, Mel, at some of the biggest events, and I watch you, you have this determined face, and I can see you come on the stage. You’re like, I have a message to deliver.
It’s not about me. It’s about reaching people with the truth. And you come up there and it’s just, Bam, and it resonates. I’ve seen all the events. I was at the events. I was at every event.
And every event, people at a certain point, you resonated with so many times per minute that this is what happens.
If you’re in the audience, and somebody’s on fire, and they’re hitting the points, and they’re resonant, and it’s truth, and you know it’s true, you subconsciously feel the need to clap. You know, and if you’re a white guy, there has to be a certain amount of that to really clap because, you know, again, I grew up in a black church. So the church I went to Carlton Pearson, may he rest in peace. You clap about anything. If the pastor says one thing that’s quasi true, you’re like, oh yeah. You know, pastor says, we’re going to go ahead and start with praise and worship.
Yes. Praise and worship. White church. It’s like, you got to really work for that thing. But I’m looking around an audience of black, white, Asian, everybody. And people were just standing.
And they’re like, and then every time standing ovation. You know why? Because Mel, you took the time to prepare. Yes, but you also have the confidence. You confided in yourself that during that instance, you were doing what God called you to do. It wasn’t about you.
And you got up there and you delivered that message and people cheered. So somebody watching this show right now, you need this message. So I want you to do, again, if you’re watching the show, have confidence, think about it, pray about it, but have confidence that coming to one of our workshops could be life -changing for you. Now, only a fool would blindly trust something other than the Bible. So we’re gonna open up our, we’re gonna go to thrivetimeshow . com.
You click on testimonials. We have thousands. of testimonials of real people whose businesses were stuck. A carpet cleaning business, right here, it was stuck, gross. Music Academy, stuck, gross. These are all companies that have doubled, by the way.
D &D Custom Homes, doubled. Electric City, I named that company, by the way, I take credit for that, doubled, okay. Delrick Research, doubled. Greenline Plumbing, doubled. These are all doubles, these are all doubles. Modscenes, eight times, eight times larger.
H2Oasis, doubled. Hub, doubled. And this guy’s over five times larger, by the way, this is Jim. Public speaker, Gene, from no speaking events to a lot of speaking events. Balanced Pilates, huge growth. Platinum Pest, four times growth, four times.
I mean, I can go on, I mean, dude, thousands of them. These are real people.
And so I encourage everybody out there, let’s go ahead and have confidence.
Now, step number four and five, with the limited time we had, number four, decide right now that you’re done with the excuses. What? Yeah, just right now, let’s just be done with it. Let’s just, let’s stop the whole I’m too old thing. I’m too young thing. I don’t do computers.
Stop it. Just, just, just stop. Just stop. Stop. Okay. Stop.
Just the whole, whatever that is. You know, I, when I started my first company, DJ connection, I had a 1989 Ford escort and I wasn’t old enough to drive it. So my users, pastor, Mark Haugen drove me. My youth pastor drove me to my DJ gigs. And I think it’s because he felt bad for me. I called everybody and no one could take me.
My dad worked the night shift.
My mom was working. But the 1989 Ford Escort with a hatchback, we would actually open the back of it. and use bungee cords to hold the equipment in. And we would drive down the road like an Amish vehicle that was driving slow and everyone was afraid stuff would fall out. And that’s how we did it. And so Mel, there’s somebody watching today’s show, and I wanna get your take on this.
You gotta be done with the excuses. At some point, it’s different than committing. It’s like, I am done with the I’m too old thing. I’m done with the, I don’t do technology. At some point, we just have to cross out the excuses, Mel. Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, for everything that I’ve ever done, it’s been come from inside and against all odds. When I first wanted to go into film and my family was like, oh, what’s that gonna do for you? And I was always thinking, well, if it’s one in a million, I can be the one. I always thought that way. But you know what? Then you get out there and you get knocked down a lot.
But you know what?
It comes from also being really in touch with yourself. We’re in a phase right now in America and the world where people are everything that they’re looking at, it’s outside. And what you really need to do is you need to do the inside work to get to a place where you trust yourself, you believe in yourself enough that nothing can stop you. And it’s very, very important to find your passion and your purpose, which will lead you in that direction. So I think it’s a lot of internal stuff.
But once you get going and take the first steps towards making your dream a reality, it takes on a fire of its own and you start to become proud of yourself. My one mentor from L . A. I always said there’s no expiration date on dreams. Dreams have no expiration date, but also celebrate every win. Even if it’s just a phone call where somebody says, great, I’ll meet with you.
Let’s set it up. That’s a win when like it was always any win. If I got a meeting or a pitch or an audition or something, that’s the win. That’s the first win. You just always have to look at everything as as you know, as long as you’re moving forward, you’re winning and it gains momentum as it goes. That’s that’s how I’ve always dealt with it.
This is so important, folks. I’m telling you, sometimes people have a show and they speed it up double time. I’d slow this show down. I would marinate on this thing. There’s some deep, profound stuff, folks. We’re not swimming in the shallow end of the pool today.
There’s some deep stuff here. Now, the next thing we want to do, this is the final step. You gotta block out time for what matters. You see, what gets scheduled gets done. And if you’re a Christian, maybe you are, maybe you’re not. Maybe you are a Jewish, you’re watching this show.
If you believe in the book one, we’ll call it the Old Testament, book two, New Testament. Maybe there’s a Mormon watching, you believe in book three, the bonus round. But anyway, so the idea that the Bible, the Bible states though, that every day that we have is a gift from God. The Bible tells us this is the day that the Lord has made and I shall rejoice and be glad in it. says that God already knew you when you were formed in your mother’s womb. I mean, these are some deep concepts.
So what happens is there’s people that come to my conferences that are a little bit battered and beaten by the world.
They come to my conference.
This is one of them.
And she came, Terry is her name. Her son was on Joe Rogan six times. By the way, I don’t think anyone’s been on Joe Rogan. There’s very few people that have been on Joe Rogan six times. Jim Brewer, your friend Mel, he’s been on there multiple times, but very few people have been on Joe five, six times. Her son was just on Joe Rogan.
Her husband, basically, after 35 years of marriage, the divorce was happening, and somehow she found herself at our conference. I just want people to take three minutes and listen to this story, because this is somebody who decided, you know what, I’m going to have massive success. Watch this story, here we go.
How long have you been doing sports photography slash awards, that kind of thing? 25 years. So I went with Justin because at the time he was living in Oklahoma City and he was a guest speaker at your conference and I was with him and that’s when I met you and your team. You were depressed because you… Yeah, well, depressed. Suicidal thoughts I had for like 10 years.
Just battled it from 13 years old, 23. And so, um, so yeah, that, that was a lot scarier to me than going home. Man, you had suicidal thoughts when you were 13.
Yeah, for sure. And I, I mean, I was, I was one that like, you know, the kid in the, in the class that, I mean, I wasn’t, I wasn’t like, I wouldn’t say I was, how do I say it?
It was extremely brutal, but it was happening to, I mean, everyone gets bullied for the most part. Um, but yeah, just the energy and the, uh, business information that you give is great. I’ll tell you that, um, at the actual time that I started, um, I was your client and you started coaching me. I was going through a divorce after 32 years of being married. I was not, um, I was not the business owner. I worked in the hospital for 15 years and I was clueless. I was lost.
So everything you said at the conference resonated with me and I could tell that that’s what I needed. I did not know how important numbers are to know your numbers. I did not know how important systems are. So I learned all that and yeah, it was great. And as far as generating leads, are you seeing more leads online now than you were when you first met us at that conference?
Or maybe you could describe maybe the impact that implementing what you’ve learned has had on the number of leads you generate. So I had no idea about Google. So yes, we have actually, we have so much business now with people Googling us and finding us. So we do the marine ball. So that’s how they found us. That’s an event photography type.
It’s not sports, just event. So that’s how they found us. A gentleman just found us for a world tournament that they’re actually having right here in our back door in Burwellston in Grapevine. We’re in the Dallas -Fort Worth area. And they have 400 plus teams over the summer. So yeah, we’re generating business.
How would you quantify the increase in the number of leads? Again, this is real stuff. And I’m just sharing with you, this lady went from no leads to so many leads where she was telling me, she’s like, I used to get no leads at all. And then during this interview, she was telling me she’s getting mail like three a day, four a day, huge contracts. It’s a multimillion dollar company now. And so there’s somebody watching today’s show and I’m just, I’m not trying to talk at you.
I’m trying to lift you up. I’m not trying to talk down to anybody. My goal is to leave you feeling whole and not leave you feeling full of holes. I want to make sure that we coach you up. So everybody watching today’s show, you feel uplifted. You feel equipped.
You have the tenacity and the capacity to go forward and to do something big with your life, and I know you do, and I’m trying to link arms with you, and today I’m gonna be talking to three long -time Mel K listeners who really, really want to be a part of what we’re doing, and the thing about our conferences is we call you, and we try to make sure that we don’t invite people to the conference that have a weird agenda, people that aren’t actually there for the right reasons, and so we kinda, it’s almost like an approval process, as I would describe it, so if you go to thrivetimeshow . com and you request, by the way, website is absphotography if you want to prove she’s real absphotography . com. But if you go to thrivetimeshow . com, you request tickets. If you want to text me directly, my cell phone number is 918 -851 -0102, 918 -851 -0102.
People always say, you give out your real cell phone number. Yeah, I mean, I do. 851 -0102. You can text me. I meet some of the best people, by the way. And then what we can do is we’ll lock arms with you.
We’ll tell you the details. It’s 250 or whatever price you want to pay. If you use promo code Mel K, you have a chance to win a backstage pass to the event. But something different that I wasn’t expecting, I wasn’t expecting Pastor Jackson Laumeyer to be invited directly by President Trump to attend this pastor’s event. And I wasn’t expecting Pastor Jackson Laumeyer to talk to some of his good friends. And they’ve decided they want to participate in the conference.
So now we’re going to have Eric Stockelbach there. We’re going to have a VIP dinner. So if you want to be a part of that VIP, just use promo code Mel K. We’ll get you a discount on that. And if you use promo code Mel K, you have also have a chance to win a backstage pass. So so much there, Mel, but I hope I’m open. I know it’s a lot.
I’m very passionate. Hopefully it doesn’t feel like a fire hose, but I want everybody out there to know you can do it, Mel. Yeah, no, it’s not a firehose. You know, I wrote Americans Anonymous Restoring Power to the People, one citizen at a time, because I believe that the American people have been demoralized, let down, a kind of feel learned helplessness. And it’s a fraud. It’s a lie.
You have more power than you think you have. We, the people, have to take back this country from inside out. But that also includes building small businesses, going to places where there is a need and building something that that community needs and making it grow. That’s what people should be doing all over the country. Once we’re over this hump of the financial reconfiguring, everyone out there should be living their best life and living their best life now and preparing for that. Don’t get pulled up and down with all the daily news and this and that.
Start thinking about your best life. Every individual American citizen has to take back their life. individual liberty and sovereignty and decide their course going forward for this country, for themselves, for their family, for their children, and especially find purpose in rebuilding this country yourself. And this is how you can do that. Find your passion, make it into a business, and Clay has the best formula to make it grow. And also, time management.
Like you said, systems that Clay has and he teaches you that will be total game changers. You will no longer get up in the morning and think where to start. You will know three days ahead where you’re going. And I needed that personally. And a lot of people just need some organization, some systems, some consistency. And if that is you, go seize your life into your own hands and build what you have in your heart in reality.
Because all of us have a shot right now and I hope everyone will take it. Anything else, Rob?
Well, I would just say, Clay, when you suggested that we talk about, because you decided that you wanted to expand your business. You have this, you’ve had this, you know, business, a consulting business and business ownership business for a very long time. And you decided, you know, now that the tour is over, you want to scale it up a little bit. And yeah. And it’s so resonated with us in a lot of different ways. Number one is because we’re all about personal empowerment.
Number two, we also see that, as Mel said, that the trajectory is changing and that creates more opportunity. You know, all this funny money is going to be out the door and we’re going to get back to real business. And number three, we know you. You know, we’ve been in the trenches with you for the better part of, you know, four and a half, five years, whatever it’s been. And we know your integrity. And and that’s, you know, so important to us.
And we also know that you can make it happen. And you do. I want to insert one thing here. This is true. People can look it up. It’s public information.
When we did the reawaken touring, I got so by Eric Coomer. It’s the former head of security and strategy of Dominion. He has the 12 patents connected to the elections. During his five -hour deposition, he has stated that everything that was stated about him is accurate. that I’ve said, at least.
And so, specifically, the guy, if everyone look him up, look up Eric Coomer, it’s a lot of fun, C -O -O -M -E -R, and he says, during this deposition, this is all during the deposition, he’s like, yeah, it is true, he used to do cocaine, and he used to do heroin, and he used to be a skinhead, and he admits all those things. But Mike Lindell, myself, Eric Metaxas, One America, we’re all being sued on the same lawsuit. And so my wife and I were talking about it, and the lawsuit, just so we’re clear, between the tour and the lawsuit, I mean, we went backwards almost $2 million. And I’ve always had 160 clients, because I really want to get to know every client. And so I’ve always kept that tight -knit group there. And we’ve had so many people reach out to us and say, could you help us grow our company?
And I’ve always said, I just want to stay at 160.
I’ve been doing the same thing for 20 years.
And so I told Vanessa, I’m like, in order to keep paying this ongoing legal battle, which, if we are victorious, by the way, it will really help a lot of other people related to election integrity. I’ve been fighting for four consecutive years. In order to keep funding that, two options we have here. I can scale up our businesses. We can do that and help more people. Or, we can just continue to recognize that we’re going to go backwards, you know, half a million bucks a year on this thing.
So this kind of, how are we going to do that? And so after prayerfully considering it, we decided, you know what, we’re going to go ahead and help an additional a hundred clients. That’s what we’re going to do. And, uh, I’m really glad that we’re doing it because I’ve so far, I’ve met the people that we’ve helped since we made that decision. It’s pretty crazy.
Cause these are people that we would not have helped years ago. And, uh, so the first event we did under that new paradigm was we brought in Eric Trump and the place where,
packed. And normally I would cap attendance at a certain size, but I said, hey, let’s expand the seating a little bit. And the energy was very different because there were so many more people. And I’m like, okay. And so it’s really, it’s helping your listeners, it’s helping our businesses, it’s helping people.
So again, we’re honored to serve more people.
And I do appreciate you guys carving out time for me.
Well, thank you so much. And it’s our time, America.
The people of this country should take back their own destiny. And one way to do that is to turn your dreams, as I say, into business, into action. And nobody can help you like Clay Clark. Clay Clark is here somewhere. Where’s my buddy Clay? Clay’s the greatest.
I met his goats today. I met his dogs. I met his chickens. I saw his compound.
He’s like the greatest guy.
I ran from his goats, his chickens, his dogs. So this guy’s like the greatest marketer you’ve ever seen, right? His entire life, Clay Clark, his entire life is marketing. 4 ,000 % from February to February. Now I can better that. Okay, Clay, I don’t think you know this.
I don’t think you know this. I’m pinching myself and if I cry, forgive me. In the last two and a half days, we have bettered our entire month of February in the last two and a half days.
So and the phone’s blown up.
Everything’s just blown up. Well you’re right. It is like a rocket ship. So we’re pinching ourselves. Actually I learned at the Academy King’s Point in New York Octa nonverbal. Watch what a person does.
Not what they say, but I recognized at the age of 15, I’m going, you know what? I am not going to live that way. And so I started a company out of my parents’ basement called DJ connection . com. And I decided I am going to have success. And so I reached out to millionaires and people that I kind of knew through church and friendships and people that
Parents of my friends and I said what book would you recommend that I read? I’m a 15 year old asking this question true story and I kept being told you got to read Hello. Hello. Hello, Robert Kiyosaki rich dad radio show. It’s an exciting time Also, I think a treacherous time spooky time also, but it’s always you know danger is a good time Today, my guest is Clay Clark, and I went out with Tom Wheelwright to visit Clay with Eric Trump also. And the reason I want to talk to Clay this morning is a very important subject called study.
And the reason I say that is things are changing so fast, and many people are completely missing the show. You know, things are changing at rapid, rapid, rapid speed. Technology’s changing. So I went to Tulsa, well, again, with Tom Wheelwright and Eric Trump. And the thing I was so impressed about, Clay, is this word called study. I don’t know, you guys must be in your water or something, Clay, but boy, I was so, so impressed how big you guys are.
But what really impressed me was you have this huge congregation. They’re all about guys your age. They’re on fire. and you start your classes at five in the morning. Now, let me talk to you about study here. We show our books here.
This is how I study. You know, this is The Creature from Jekyll Island. It’s on the Fed. And Clay’s doing the same thing. We study.
So I go out to Clay’s place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He’s built this huge compound out there.
And you guys start at five o ‘clock in the morning. That’s not by Zoom.
They drive there. they show up five o ‘clock, bright -haired, bushy -tailed and all this, and they’re on fire, your group is on fire. So that’s what was, Clay, this technology, you tell your group, I was so, so impressed, because like I said, studies became a bad word.
I got into fights in my own company, because our staff didn’t wanna study anymore. And I just, I don’t know how they can not do that. So Clay, anyway, welcome to the Rich Dad Radio Show. That’s what I wanna talk to you about, is how do you do it? Five o ‘clock in the morning, you have hundreds of people showing up in your huge, huge, huge auditorium on your property to study. Anyway, welcome to the show, Clay, and what turns you on so much?
That’s what I wanna know. Give us a little bit about your background. My name is Karime Schofield, and the name of our company is Whistle While You Clean. I am Sophia Schofield. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and we service the tri -state. So Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana.
We were getting a phone call and we were like, why is someone calling our business line? That’s unusual. And we picked it up and it was a lead. I mean, it’s it’s been incredible, Clay. It’s we’ve had like we’ve gone from zero to like 100 percent growth. Like we’re like a full functioning company.
It’s great. Like we were blown away at how well we’re doing. So working with you guys, you guys have really taught us a lot about generating leads and pursuing our dream 100. So we have a list of customers that we want to market to. And so we’ve been making phone calls, we’ve been showing up in person, we’re trying to get near the businesses that they would visit if they were visiting like a hair salon or something. And then we start calling them and we just start pursuing them.
And then the other thing that we do is when we do do cleans, we take a lot of video testimonials, and we post those to our website so other customers can see. And then we also upload a lot of images of the things that we do. And so We’re also asking our clients for Google reviews after we’ve cleaned their houses. And so it’s this constant cycle of doing those things over and over and over again. I would say if you’re on the fence, go to one of Clay’s conferences. They are hilarious.
They’re fun. They’re educational. They’re so good that even my teenagers like them. And I would say, don’t let fear hold you back. If you want to start a business, do the obvious thing and hire someone who knows how to run businesses. If I wanted to get in shape, I’d hire a gym person, you know, a personal trainer.
This is like the personal training for business.
It has been absolutely amazing. I mean, our coach is encouraging.
When he first met with us he said, Do we want him to be like a drill sergeant with us? You know, what level of intensity do we want him to give us? And I will say he is incredibly, incredibly encouraging all the time.
And he just hits the same mark with us every single time.
It’s very repetitive, but I feel like I think we both really learn a lot every time we sit down and have a conversation with him over the phone.
It’s it’s he keeps pushing us to go further and he can recognize when we’re afraid to do something and he’ll give us a little bit of grace. But that next week, he’s drilling us again, like pushing us to go harder.
Our no brainer offer is we are offering your first clean for a dollar.
And that sounds absolutely insane.
It even sounded insane when I was talking over it with our business coach. And I will tell you that that has generated some of our hugest clients. I mean, that has been like a game changer because it opened up the door to more clients, more recommendations, more leads.
And we were surprised how far that dollar clean got us. How important has it been for you to work out that scripting?
Even though you offer a dollar for the first clean, how important has it been for you to nail that down? It’s been really important, because it kind of, it hones in, so that you’re not just all over the place when you’re trying to explain what it is that you do.
And a lot of times, it’s like you’re a good person offering a good product, and you have integrity, and you want to communicate that.
But when you go to communicate without a script or without practice, it’s just like, a mess coming out of your mouth, as opposed to having this, you know, honed in practice where you know what you’re going to say, you know how you’re going to say it, and you can almost expect better results when you do it that way. Had you ever been an entrepreneur before starting this particular business? No, never. Did you ever think about wanting to own your own business someday? Or what was the first time you thought, you know, maybe I would like to open my own business? Absolutely.
I’ve probably been dreaming about it for about 10 years. Okay, let me go to your daughter here. Had you ever thought about wanting to team up and open your own business? Or was that something that you were maybe excited about or not so much? Well, for me, my parents would always listen to your podcast and business podcast. And as I started listening to them, I started realizing that I wanted to own a business.
It’s www . WhistleWhileYouClean . com. Honestly, the hardest thing was getting over the fear. It was the fear of the unknown. was like a cloud of doubt that, you know, you can’t do this.
You’re going to fail. There was a few sleepless nights there when we did pull the trigger and join your team and start the coaching process. Even my husband put a little bit of pressure on me from time to time because it just it was just absolutely scary to take that jump and actually start a business.
