(Speaker 2)
I actually need some help on this next song. Brett, are you around? Come on, everyone give it up for Brett.

(Speaker 3)
¦

(Speaker 2)
We have not rehearsed this.

(Speaker 5)
Just gonna go with the flow.

(Speaker 1)
But it’s gonna be awesome.

(Speaker 4)
This song’s called Build a Boat.

(Speaker 1)
¦ ś I’ve been walking through the desert ś You’ve seen a cloud and forever over me ś But I believe your rain is coming I’ve been hanging on the high hoes you’re the one who’s making dry bones come to life you’re the light I put my trust in

(Speaker 1)
cause every word you say is gonna come true you’re gonna lead me to the promised land And everything you say is gonna happen Even though I haven’t seen the end But I will build a boat in the sand Where they say it never rains

(Speaker 1)
I will stand up and bail Do anything it takes for you and in my sails Your love never fails or fails I’ll build a boat in the desert place And when the flood and the water starts to rise I’ll ride the storm cause I got you by my side But you’re in my sails, your love never fails or fades I’ll build a boat so let it rain I surrender, yeah.

(Speaker 1)
Cause every word you say is gonna come true. I will build a boat in the sand where they say another rain I will stand up and pay I’ll do anything it takes to win In my sails your love never fails or fails I’ll build a boat in the desert place And when I’m gone I’ll be a it takes But you’re in my sails Your love never fails or fails I’ll build a boat in the desert place And when the flood and the water starts to rise

(Speaker 1)
I’ll ride the storm, cause I got you by my side But you’re in my sails Your love never fails or fails I’ll build a boat so let it rain, yeah I’ll build a boat so let it rain, let it rain I’ll build a boat so let it rain

(Speaker 4)
I’ll build a boat so let it rain

(Speaker 1)
I will build a boat in the sand where they say another race I’ll stand up in faith, do everything it takes But you’re in my sails, your love never fails or fades I’ll build a boat in the desert place When the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah I’ll ride the storm, cause I got you by my side

(Speaker 1)
But you’re in my sails If your love never fails or fails I’ll build a boat so let it rain, yeah I’ll build a boat so let it rain, yeah Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

(Speaker 4)
Yeah!

(Speaker 3)
Yeah!

(Speaker 2)
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! that at all. It was incredible. I want to ask you the same question. Coachability. You know, you write music. So you write a song, you’re excited about it, it’s a new melody, a new lyric, a new something. But you also sit down with writers, and maybe writers who you think are better than you or as good as you, and there’s some coaching that happens. What’s your thoughts on coachability? How do you approach being coachable but also being confident. Yeah, actually was looking up that verse that you just spoke on, it’s in Proverbs. It says, a fool despises his father’s instruction, but he who regards reproof as prudent.

(Speaker 2)
So that applies to a lot of different areas. But basically, those who are willing to have someone give them instruction and even correction, they’re going to be prudent for it. So when it comes to songwriting, I much prefer to write with people who are, most people are better songwriters than me.

(Speaker 2)
They do it five days a week at least. And I’m like, yeah, let’s get in the room with this person and with this person, and what’s so cool, 2020 especially was working a lot with Clay on a weekly basis. At that time, a lot of the people I wrote with were scared to death to be in a room together with one another.

(Speaker 2)
We would do FaceTime calls and Zoom calls or whatever. Something amazing happens when you’re in the room with someone who’s like-minded, who is further along in the room with someone who’s like-minded, who is further along in the process than you are. You start to pick up on things that you didn’t know, but they also help you to become better. It’s like, even in a spiritual sense, this applies to marriage, but I heard someone say,

(Speaker 2)
if you want to do more for the kingdom, stay single, right? You don’t have to filter as many things through someone else, but if you want to do more for the kingdom, stay single. You don’t have to filter as many things through someone else. But if you want to look more like Jesus, get married. I think the same applies to a coach. If you want to be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be, get a coach.

(Speaker 2)
And if you just want to go out and blindly do And if you just want to go out and blindly do a bunch of stuff in your field, don’t have a coach.
