Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show, but this show does. In a world filled with endless opportunities, why would two men who have built 13 multi -million dollar businesses altruistically invest five hours per day to teach you the best practice business systems and moves that you can use? Because they believe in you, and they have a lot of time on their hands. They started from the bottom, now they’re here. It’s the Thrive Time Show starring the former U .

Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Clay Clark, and the entrepreneur trapped inside an optometrist’s body, Dr. Robert Zunich.
(Speaker 1)
Two men, eight kids, co -created by two different women, 13 multi -million dollar businesses. Okay, Thrive Nation, on today’s show, I’m super excited to introduce you to or to interview somebody who I hold in high regard as somebody’s two gentlemen I hold in high regard. But I want to tell you a quick back story. Years ago, a man by the name of Doug Fears, Doug Fears, is a friend of mine. His son was a partner of mine. And Doug heard that I was obsessed with the Hobby Lobby story, and specifically the book, More Than a Hobby.
(Speaker 1)
And so today’s guest might not remember it, but Doug set up an opportunity for myself to go out to lunch here with today’s guest, David Fears. and get a chance to kind of see the Hobby Lobby operation. And it made quite an impression on me. As a person who also went to Oral Roberts University, I’ve seen the massive renovations and rejuvenation that the Hobby Lobby investment has made, or that David Green and the team have made into Oral Roberts University, and the impact it’s made. So I could not be more honored to be joined here today by Bill High and David Green. David Green, welcome onto The Thrive Time Show.
(Speaker 1)
How are you, sir?
(Speaker 2)
Well, great, and welcome. Thank you for inviting us. We’re glad to be here this morning.
(Speaker 1)
Now, Bill, I got to ask you real quick here. Clarify for the listeners out there that maybe don’t know what you do as it relates to David. What do you do? What does David do? What’s kind of your relationship for maybe our listeners out there that are maybe less familiar with you, Bill?
(Speaker 3)
So I’m a co -author with David on our upcoming book, The Legacy Life. And David and I have worked together for a long time now, what, 20, almost 25 years. And we host leadership events. People from all over the country come around and they come to hear David’s story. And so I get to help be part of those leadership events. and get to do some Q &A with David, some interviews, just like you’re doing here, Clay, with David.
(Speaker 3)
So we’ve been hanging out together for a long time.
(Speaker 1)
Now, David, I want to start with the really myopic stuff, and then we’ll get into the book here. I’m always curious about the processes or the routines that somebody like yourself implemented to start something small. And obviously, you started with a $600 investment. For the listeners out there that want to build something, maybe they have a small business, maybe they want to start a small business, how did you organize your day, David, when you were starting Hobby Lobby?
(Speaker 2)
You know, I guess it’s different. It’s a lot different now than it was. At first, I was sweeping the front porch, you know, of the store. And so you just have to continue to change as your business grows. So when you first get started, you have to you’re everything.
(Speaker 2)
Obviously, we were just the janitor and everything. So yeah, it’s been quite a process, but you have to change as your business grows. You have to let off some things and give it to other people. But God has given us so many great people in various departments that it really makes it work by having a lot of great people.
(Speaker 1)
And David, what time did you wake up on a daily basis when you were starting Hobby Lobby? Were you up at 6 AM, 7 AM? Were you waking up at the crack of noon? What time were you starting your day?
(Speaker 2)
You know, when I was with TGNY for 13 years, I was working 60 and 70 hours a week. You know, that was what was required of me. But I didn’t want to do that, but I had to do that. And I’m thankful for that job. But when I came over to Hobby Lobby, and my family is so important, that we work a reasonable amount an hour a reasonable amount, but not a crazy amount of hours. So I get to work every day at eight, and I work six days a week.
(Speaker 2)
I leave early on Friday, I mean on Saturday at three o ‘clock, but that’s my week now that I don’t have children at home.
(Speaker 1)
Now, final question I have for you about the organizing of your day and starting Hobby Lobby is, you know, could you maybe give us the short story for anybody out there that doesn’t know? Because, again, we see a billion -dollar business making a worldwide impact. We see what you’re doing. For anybody who goes, well, how did you start? Could you share with us a little bit about how you started Hobby Lobby in rural Oklahoma?
(Speaker 2)
Yeah, we didn’t have any money. As you said, we borrowed $600 to start the business, and what we did is we made little frames in our garage. And so for two years, we just made a few little frames, and we shipped them to a lot of Ma and Pa’s art stores. I don’t know if there’s any of those left now or not, but we would ship those little frames to those art stores. craft stores, and then after a while we opened our first store. And our first store was only about 600 square feet, which is the size of a living room, and that was in 1972.
(Speaker 2)
Two years after we started making frames, we thought we had enough money to open our first store, and we just had a few thousand dollars in there. So it started very, very slow. And my wife worked for the first five years with no money. So sometimes I think when you start a business, some people think in terms of having a lot of money, but I think you just have to have a lot of the Lord helping you, and just, I call it crawling. You just crawl and you crawl, and then eventually you’re up on your feet, and then all of a sudden, if the Lord’s with you, you can fly, and I think that’s where God has us today.
(Speaker 1)
How long did it take you, David, before you felt like Hobby Lobby was a viable business? How many years did that take?
(Speaker 2)
You know, I think after five years, we were, you know, I quit after five years of working for TGNY and working in the, having two jobs. And I came over to Hobby Lobby after five years in 1975. So, but we were just real small then. So, I don’t know that there was a day, because this has been a process. So, it’s just a little, you know, it gets bigger, bigger, bigger every year. But I don’t know that there was a day that I said, oh, we got it made.
(Speaker 2)
But there’s been a lot of difficult times during that as well. But God has blessed us and we have a tremendous amount of great people, and that’s what makes it work, is great people and really trying to do things that would be pleasing to the Lord.
(Speaker 1)
Bill, as I’m taking notes here, it sounds like David was an overnight success story after five years of working multiple jobs. Now, you guys are working on this book together, books together, and you meet a lot of entrepreneurs that are finding themselves in the messy middle. And it’s where, you know, they’re wanting to build the business. They’re wanting to build that business, make it successful. A lot of people who watch this show are devout Christians, and they want to build a business so they can give back to the community, so they can sow seeds into their church, so they can make a bigger impact. But their business is just not working.
(Speaker 1)
Having met with thousands of entrepreneurs, Bill, do you have any advice for anybody watching today’s show that maybe has a viable business? it’s a good marketing plan, they’re just not quite there, maybe they’re on year three. They’re not to year five yet, they’re on year three, and they’re not quite there. What would you say to the entrepreneurs out there watching today’s show?
(Speaker 3)
Yeah, just as I’ve watched David over the years, our last book was called Leadership, Not by the Book. And David’s story is a classic illustration because he’s he’s this great story of a guy who starts a business with 600 bucks. And yet the business has grown to now probably eight billion in sales. Right, David, this year. So it’s been quite the story. And I think probably the thing that I’ve watched as I’ve observed David and other entrepreneurs is they really pay attention to the smallest details.
(Speaker 3)
the littlest details, and they don’t get lost in that. David really stays focused on some of the things that matter most. Sometimes we hear this idea that you need to manage at 30 ,000 foot, and you do, but at the same time, you got to pay attention to the main thing, which is the main thing. And the other last thing, kind of little small piece that I’ve seen about David, it’s only recently that he’s actually had a cell phone, and he’s never had a computer. So he stays focused on the things of the business, which is a great lesson for people.
(Speaker 1)
I want to talk about that for a second. David, when I had an opportunity to briefly shadow you there in Oklahoma City with Doug Fears sort of serving as the babysitter to make sure that I didn’t violate any rules, I was blown away that you didn’t have a computer on your desk or you didn’t have a cell phone. And I was just blown away by how you were running a multibillion -dollar company without that. Could you talk to us about your views on a to -do list and time blocking, sir?
(Speaker 2)
Yeah, I think a lot of times your phone and your computer can really mess you up and really tie you down where you shouldn’t be. So I think it’s important for me with this business and having over 50 ,000 employees is to definitely to different people, different jobs. And that doesn’t require me to have all the information that I need. But on my desk every day, I know what the sales are. Everything I need to know, I’ve got a copy on my desk every day.
(Speaker 2)
So I get that information, but I think for me, and I’m not suggesting this for everybody, for me, it’s best not to have a computer, but to have information I need on my desk every day in a hard copy. but I don’t want too much information. There’s a lot of information. Going back to some of our success, I think one of our success also has been the fact that we have not done things that seem to be profitable. For instance, closing on Sunday. When we closed on Sunday, we did less business.
(Speaker 2)
When we stopped selling Halloween, we did less business. When we sued the government, we did less business. So I think it’s very important to do the things that’s right and not the things that seems to be better to do more business. So I think we should make decisions based on what’s right rather than what may seem to cost it. And it’s where we have done things that has cost us, I think God has rewarded us for doing that. So I think that’s really important for a businessman is to do what’s right.
(Speaker 2)
And sometimes, almost all the time for us, doing things right has cost us business. But in the bigger picture, God has always blessed us because it’s important to us as much as possible and hoping in every case that we’re doing things that’s right, but not what seems to be more profitable, like open seven days instead of six.
(Speaker 1)
David, I want to tell you, you’re responsible for a life change that I made many years ago. I did this because of our interaction. And you might not remember, but we went to lunch at, I want to say at Zio’s maybe, a restaurant right there near the headquarters at Zio’s. And I was asking you, I said, David, I’ve got five kids, and you’ve got a family. It’s a family business. Do you have any pro tips for me?
(Speaker 1)
as an entrepreneur? And I remember you said something to the effect of, and it’s been many years, but I wrote it in my journal. You said you’ve got to block out time for family. You might have used different words, but you’ve got to schedule a family time. It’s got to be intentional. You’ve got to schedule it.
(Speaker 1)
And so my wife and I, we do a family time every single week where the family stops everything. We get together. It’s a specific time. We do it every week. And it really changed the dynamics of our family or the culture of our family. Could you talk about that when you’re running a multi -billion dollar company or a multi -million dollar company or a multi -thousand dollar company?
(Speaker 1)
Why do you have to block out time? Or how do you block out time for family, sir?
(Speaker 2)
Yeah, I think that’s very important. Every month we bring in about 50 men and women that’s going to be managers. We call them co -managers. We want every one of them to know what our culture is about. And I don’t speak very long, but there’s something I’ve said to every single one of them, and that is most of us don’t have a hard time being successful at our work. That’s pretty good.
(Speaker 2)
Most of us. Where we don’t have success so much is in our marriage and raising children that serve the Lord. And so I tell them that it’s more important for them to do those things than it is Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby should come second. Oh, by the way, if you care about your family, if you care about your wife and your marriage, you’re going to do a good job. But it’s important for us to know what’s most important in our life.
(Speaker 2)
And it is not our job, but it is our family. And we’re very fortunate because we have 46 grandchildren, great -grandchildren. Barbara and I have 18 great -grandchildren. And by the way, they all live in the Oklahoma City area. Now, we don’t make them do that, but somehow or another, they’re all right here around us. There’s 47 of us, I believe.
(Speaker 2)
And I always say 47 and counting because the grandkids are always, they just keep popping up. A lot of people, a lot of our families, is from different countries. They’re adopted, so we love that as well.
(Speaker 1)
Now, Bill, in this book you guys are working on together, this book you’ve worked on together, The Legacy Life, one of the things that really got me fired up about this book is you reject the idea of work hard and then retire. And for anybody out there who watches our show for any amount of time, you know this. The word vocation means calling. The word vacation means retreat from. And I love the idea of working as unto the Lord. I love the idea of blocking out time for family now.
(Speaker 1)
But I didn’t used to view the world that way. And Bill, I think a lot of entrepreneurs were so busy, we want to work hard and then retire. Walk us through what your new book here, again, the new book, folks, is called The Legacy Life. What does this book tell readers about the mindset of work hard and then retire?
(Speaker 3)
Yeah, the subtitle to the book is leading your family to make a difference for eternity. And we reject the notion, truly, that retirement is the end goal. That’s short term thinking. The Bible is really clear about this idea that God thinks and plans in generations. And so we say that legacy is what you set in motion. You are setting in motion a powerful legacy for your family that is generations to come.
(Speaker 3)
And so that’s the bit much bigger perspective. Even if, again, if you look at David’s family, his mom and dad were pastors of very small churches. A hundred was a big church. They had no idea what they were giving birth to when David stepped onto the scene. And for a while he felt a little bit like, wow, am I the black sheep of the family? But then look at Hobby Lobby and look at what all the good that they’ve done.
(Speaker 3)
And then you can go down to his children and to his grandchildren. And now you’re starting to see even bigger pictures of what happens. And that’s the perspective of the future.
(Speaker 25)
life.
(Speaker 3)
It is generations of influence. It’s not just a work hard, retire, and then go sit on a beach somewhere.
(Speaker 1)
David, I want to go back to you and ask you this question because there’s that dynamic. You hear people say, you never should hire family. You shouldn’t hire family, David. David, you shouldn’t hire family. That’s the problem. It’s never going to work if you hire family.
(Speaker 1)
Now, you’re telling us you have 48 grandkids. I think you said 50 ,000 employees that work at Hobby Lobby. You got $8 billion in sales. Clearly, something is going well there. Something is working. What are your thoughts when somebody says, you should never hire family, David?
(Speaker 1)
What do you say, sir?
(Speaker 2)
Well, I don’t think it’s right or wrong. I think you have to have a mindset that God has a plan for everybody. It’s not my plan. It’s not the parents’ plan. But it’s God’s plan. And what is God’s plan for your life?
(Speaker 2)
We only have, in Gen 3, we only have four of them working in our company. So we feel like that’s where they belong. That’s where they should go. So we say, welcome. Here’s a job. But then when you get here, you have to perform as anybody else does.
(Speaker 2)
So we also have a committee that decides the salary. things of that nature. So if you’re part of the family, you’re like another person and you’re not like treated special. And that’s real important because a family can be very, very difficult because they are family. So we’ve tried to put ourselves in a position where that everybody that works here, which is only a few, but they think that’s where God would have them. So we have a lot of family that doesn’t work here.
(Speaker 2)
We just want them to be wherever God would have them to be. So I think that’s the important thing. Is this where God wants you to be? And if it is, then that’s good. Sometimes a family member should follow a leader, but sometimes it shouldn’t be. But what would God have?
(Speaker 2)
And I think trying to find God’s will in that is what’s really important.
(Speaker 1)
Bill, I want to get your thoughts on this. You know, again, we’re talking about family and teaching your family how to lead a Christ -focused life. Also, from the perspective of your business owner, how do you find the time? I want to get your thoughts on that. I think a lot of business guys neglect the family because they’re focused on looking at the P &Ls, looking on the marketing, going to work on a new social media post, got to optimize the website, got to go to that conference, got to come back from the conference.
(Speaker 1)
And then we say, well, I’m doing it for family. and then I gotta go to the next conference, I gotta go to the next thing, optimize the website again, get the new product, gotta go, we gotta push before the end of the quarter, gotta buy that new house for the family that I never see. All of a sudden, kids are 14, kids are 15, what happened? I wanna get your thoughts on this. I think a lot of people are so busy trying to provide for their family that if we’re not careful, we could neglect our family. How do we find that balance there, sir?
(Speaker 3)
Yeah, there’s a podcast out there that we were on just recently, and the statistic is, the research is, that you’re going to spend 75 % of your time with your kids by the time they’re age 12. So the notion that if you live with this mindset that a slower day is coming, the truth is, by the time that slower day is coming, you’re going to wake up and the kids are going to be out of the house, off and gone, and you’re going to be waiting for them to return, and they never do fully. You’ve got this little window of time that you can invest. And if you don’t invest that time clearly, by building into them a clear set of mission, vision, and values, it’s gone. And that’s some of the challenge that we’re living with in this moment today. And that’s a lot of what the book talks about is we have this short term view that I’m going to go build a business.
(Speaker 3)
And it’s a lot of fun to do that. But just like David said a little bit ago, man, the easiest thing to do is go build a business. But the hardest thing to do is really to live out family intentionally.
(Speaker 1)
I’m going to pull up the book here real quick so people can see this thing. Let me pull it up. real quick here, folks. This is the book, and I’m just going to give people kind of a value proposition. Guys, we could go right now on TikTok, and we could watch some mind -numbing videos that at no point have a point. We could go on TikTok and do that.
(Speaker 1)
We could go on Instagram and just scroll all day through things. We could go to the gas station and buy a regrettable burrito. We could go on iTunes and download songs we’ll listen to one time. There are so many things we could do in terms of with our money, or we could invest in purchasing a copy of the book. And I just wanna ask you, David, and I mean this not to turn you into like a salesperson, I’m not trying to get you to sell your own book, but I guess what I’m saying is, People, we spend so much time and money on things that add no value. I want to get your thoughts about the importance of taking the time in this technology -driven world to sit down and read this book, or maybe a book that could enrich your life and teach you biblical principles.
(Speaker 2)
Yeah, I think this book really talks about what’s important, because sometimes we just don’t think about what’s important. to go down the wrong track. And that’s why I talked about our co -managers. I don’t want them to be so much of a hobby lobby person that they miss the important thing. And that’s their marriage and that’s their children. I think we have to be purposeful.
(Speaker 2)
We really have to know and be intentional. Maybe intentional is a good word. We have to be intentional about our family and our children. We want our children to serve the Lord. And that’s that you have to be intentional. I think this book brings you to maybe reassessing where you are in life.
(Speaker 2)
And are you intentional about your marriage, about your children serving the Lord. And that’s what we want to do. We want to make sure our children are serving the Lord. There’s 47 of us now, and I think every one of us are serving the Lord. So I think that’s what really legacy is about, is taking this from one generation to the other that serves the Lord. Because we say there’s only two things, you know,
(Speaker 2)
that that’s eternal and that’s God’s Word man so and also there our life we have a vapor life and an eternal life and sometimes we put all of our time and attention in our vapor life this short time and not our internal life and that’s this book hopefully brings us back to giving a little bit more thought about the eternal life that we’re going to have in our children.
(Speaker 3)
Clay, let me jump in here, too, because just to underscore some of what David is saying is there’s four generations of family in Oklahoma City, and they’re very unusual in that way. But there’s a fifth generation that’s already gone on. So they are a five generation family. There’s six generation of faith on his mother’s side. So six generations of family in America. We don’t appreciate that.
(Speaker 3)
But if you go to other parts of the world, you will see families that are 30 generations still carrying on. That’s a much different perspective, and I think that’s what David and I are trying to do in the book, is to encourage people to stretch their mindset of how they think about family. Think about what 30 generations of faith would do if we lived that out in our world today.
(Speaker 1)
Now, I’m not saying that you guys in any way, shape, or form are endorsing the business conferences that I host with Tim Tebow and others. So I’m going to assume you don’t endorse our business conferences. But for anybody out there, what I’m going to do is kind of a challenge today, is if anybody goes here and buys a copy of the book, you go to the Amazon, you buy a copy of The Legacy Life. OK, go there right now, folks. Go to Amazon, find The Legacy Life, Leading Your Family to Make a Difference. Go there right now.
(Speaker 1)
And when you go there, if you buy a copy of the book, I want you to text me. And people say, text you? How do I text you? I’m going to pull up my cell phone number here. text my cell phone number this is this is normal for my life guys I’m not destroying my personal life this is what I normally do so you can text my phone number and for our longtime listeners you know I put my phone number up here on the website so you can text my phone number let’s get there right now let’s pull it up here you can text my phone number And my phone number is 918 -851 -0102.
(Speaker 1)
And if you text me, I’m going to give you a half off of a ticket. So if you want to buy a book and get half off a ticket and a chance to win a backstage pass, you can meet people like Tim Tebow or Robert Kiyosaki. That’s my offer I’m doing right now. I know at Hobby Lobby you go in, sometimes you have specials, it’s half off or 20 % off. I can’t do that kind of thing. But what I can do is if you buy a copy of the book right now and you text me proof of purchase to my cell phone number, 918 -851 -0102, I’ll give you half off of a ticket and a chance to win a backstage pass.
(Speaker 1)
That’s how passionate I am. When I read your book, David, More Than a Hobby, What I did to that book in terms of highlighting was probably unethical. I have got tabs. I got highlights. That book was mind -blowing for me. Sir, what’s it like for you now, as you appear to be reaching age 40 probably, and having these books that have been out there for a while that are changing the lives of people like myself?
(Speaker 1)
What does that feel like, having written books that are impacting real business people?
(Speaker 2)
Well, to be honest, I’m 83, and so I’m not 40 anymore, but it’s fun just to do things that would try to tell people more about God’s Word, and that’s why the museum in Morrison, D .
(Speaker 24)
C.
(Speaker 2)
, we really think that we need to build our lives on God’s Word, and that’s what we’re trying to do, is just put things in there that God’s Word is talking about. That’s all we’ve got is what He gives us, and He gives us enough.
(Speaker 1)
Bill, I know that time is your most important asset, and I want to value your time here. So I’ve got a final question for both of you. I’ll go to you, Bill, first, and then maybe David can one -up you. So here we go. My question is, you guys have done some great interviews, some wonderful interviews. I’m sure you get off an interview from time to time, and you think, man, I wish he would have asked that.
(Speaker 1)
I wish that she or the host would have asked me this. What is that question that you maybe wish that I would have asked you today, or maybe that message that you want to communicate to our listeners out there?
(Speaker 3)
Yeah, I think that’s such a good question. And obviously, we don’t have time for this in a little short 30 -minute kind of podcast. But the most powerful question I think that people can ask is, what’s your story? Tell me the story. Because anytime we ask that question of what’s your story, we get into the heart and the emotions of a person. But then we also get to really the divine narrative.
(Speaker 3)
There’s a big story that’s been unfolding from the beginning of time to the end of time. And we fit into the larger story of God and what he’s doing in and around the world.
(Speaker 1)
Now, David, we have time if you want to talk about any items that we have on sale at HobbyLobby . com. I know that my staff, we know when to go over there, because you have some specials from time to time on frames. And so if you want to mention any sales, Christmas specials you may have, feel free to do that.
(Speaker 2)
Or sir, all joking aside, what’s the final message you want to share with our listeners? No, I think for all of us, it’s a matter of what are we doing, and are we spending our time in something that really matters 100 years from now? So I think God has put us here for a purpose. Do we know what our purpose is? And I think our purpose has something to do with what happens 100, 200 years from now. And so I think that’s what’s important.
(Speaker 2)
And by the way, thanks for flashing that 50 % off on Christmas, so that works. You know, I tried to sell, you know, my Christmas at 40 off a couple weeks, and it just fell flat because people are going to wait till 50. And I did that because we have not gotten all of the taxes that’s been put on our products. It was shipped before 30 % was added to it. But anyway, all that’s been taken care of.
(Speaker 1)
Our customers love 50 % on Christmas, and thank you for the ad. I’ll say this, too, in closing, and hopefully you know this is sincere. I’m a 44 -year -old man. I have done interviews with the founder of FUBU, the founder of Netflix, everybody you can think of, all these big guests and big names. I want you to know interviewing you today has been one of the highlights of my life, and I really appreciate you carving out time, and you really did change my family by telling me, you might not remember it, but when Doug Fears was there, my accountability partner, you talked to me about the importance of scheduling time for family, and I actually did it. and it changed my life.
(Speaker 1)
So I just want to tell you, thank you, David Green.
(Speaker 2)
I really do appreciate you, sir.
(Speaker 1)
Thank you. Bill, I appreciate you. It’s a pleasure to meet you. It’s a fun way to meet there, sir.
(Speaker 3)
Thank you for your time. Yes, thank you.
(Speaker 1)
Thanks for having us on. Take care, guys.
(Speaker 7)
Have a great day.
(Speaker 5)
All right.
(Speaker 8)
Goodbye.
(Speaker 23)
So this guy’s like the greatest marketer you’ve ever seen, right?
(Speaker 22)
His entire life, Clay Clark, his entire life is marketing.
(Speaker 1)
Santa Claus? No, we will not be joined by Santa Claus, but we will be joined by Eric Trump, the son of the 45th and now 47th President of these United States. And yes, Amanda Grace will be in the place. And yes, Dr. Stella Manuel will be there, so you know it will go well. Yes, we have Mel Kaye in the house. Pastor Phil and Tammy Hodson -Pillar will be hosting this event at their beautiful church right there in sunny Anaheim, California.
(Speaker 15)
Yes, folks, make this a December to remember.
(Speaker 1)
You surprised? Make this a December to remember and join us at the two -day interactive growth workshops. For over 20 years, folks, I’ve been hosting business growth workshops, where we’re going to teach you marketing, sales systems, human resources, accounting, social media marketing, branding, sales training, search engine optimization, accounting, workflow development, financial management, all this and more. How do you get tickets? Go to thrivetimeshow .
(Speaker 1)
com. Again, how do you get tickets? Go to thrivetimeshow . com and request tickets today. Now, Eric Trump, people don’t know this, but the Trump Organization has thousands of employees. There’s not 50 employees.
(Speaker 9)
The Trump Organization, again, most people don’t know this, but the Trump Organization has thousands of employees.
(Speaker 1)
And while Donald J. Trump was the 45th president of these United States, this just in from our home office, President Donald J. Trump is now the 47th president of these United States as well. I’m Ron Burgundy. He needed someone to run the companies for him. And so the man that runs the Trump organization for Donald J. Trump, as he was the 45th president of the United States, and now the 47th president of the United States is Eric Trump. Eric Trump is here to talk about time management, promoting from within, marketing, branding, quality control, sales systems, workflow design, workflow mapping, how to build. I mean, everything that you see, the Trump hotels, the Trump golf courses, all their products, the man who manages them.
(Speaker 1)
billions of dollars of real estate and thousands of employees is here to teach us how to do it. You are talking about one of the greatest brands on the planet from a business standpoint. I mean, who else has been able to create a brand like the Trump brand? I mean, look at it. And this is the man behind the business for the last, pretty much since 2015. He’s been the man behind it.
(Speaker 6)
So you’re talking, we’re into nine, going into 10 years of him running it.
(Speaker 1)
And we get to tap into that knowledge.
(Speaker 18)
That’s going to be great. Now think about this for a second.
(Speaker 21)
Nothing is over until we decide it is.
(Speaker 14)
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
(Speaker 1)
Germans? Forget it, he’s rolling. And A over now!
(Speaker 20)
And it’s $500 for a VIP ticket.
(Speaker 19)
Now, we only have limited seating here.
(Speaker 1)
Whoa!
(Speaker 17)
There’s a lot of togetherness and closeness, camaraderie.
(Speaker 1)
So again, if you want to get tickets for this event, all you have to do is go to thrivetimeshow . com. Go to thrivetimeshow . com. When you go to thrivetimeshow . com, you’ll go there.
(Speaker 1)
You’ll request a ticket. Boom. Or if you want to text me, if you want a little bit faster service, you say, I want you to call me right now. Just text my number. It’s my cell phone number, my personal cell phone number. We’ll keep that in mind.
(Speaker 1)
private between you, between you, me, everybody.
(Speaker 17)
We’ll keep that private.
(Speaker 1)
And anybody, don’t share that with anybody except for everybody. That’s my private cell phone number.
(Speaker 14)
It’s 918 -851 -0102. 918 -851 -0102. I know we have a lot of Spanish speaking people that attend these conferences.
(Speaker 1)
And so to be bilingually sensitive, my cell phone number is 918 -851 -0102. Zero tip. That is not actually bilingual. That’s just saying one for a one. It’s not the same thing. I think you’re attacking me.
(Speaker 1)
Now, let’s talk about this. Now, what kind of stuff will you learn at the Thrive Time Show workshop? So, Aaron, you’ve been to many of these over the past seven, eight years. So let’s talk about it. I’ll tee up the thing and then you tell me what you’re going to learn here, OK? OK.
(Speaker 1)
You’re going to learn marketing, marketing and branding. What are we going to learn about marketing and branding? Oh, yeah, we’re going to dive into, you know, so many people say, oh, you know, I got to get my brand known out there like the Trump brand, right? You want to get that brand out there. It’s like, how do I actually make people know what my business is and make it a household name? You’re going to learn some intricacies of how you can do that.
(Speaker 1)
You’re going to learn sales. So many people struggle to sell something. This just in, your business will go to hell if you can’t sales. We’re gonna teach you search engine optimization, how to come up top in the search engine results. We’re gonna teach you how to manage people. Aaron, you have managed, no exaggeration, hundreds of people throughout your career and thousands of contractors.
(Speaker 1)
And most people struggle with managing people. Why does everybody have to learn how to manage people? Well, because, first of all, you either have great people or you have people who suck. So it can be a challenge. Learning how to work with a large group of people and get everybody pulling in the same direction can be a challenge. But if you have the right systems, you have the right processes and you’re really good at selecting great ones.
(Speaker 1)
And we have a process we teach about how to find great people. When you start with the people who have a great attitude, they’re teachable. they’re driven, all of those things, then you can get those people all pulling in the same direction. So we’re going to teach you branding, marketing, sales, search engine optimization. We’re going to teach you accounting. We’re going to teach you personal finance, how to manage your finance.
(Speaker 1)
We’re going to teach you time management. How do you manage your time? How do you get more done during a typical day? How do you build an organization if you’re not organized? How do you do organization? How do you build an org chart?
(Speaker 1)
Everything that you need to know to start and grow a business will be taught during this two day interactive business workshop. Now, let me tell you how the format is set up here. And again, folks, this is a two day interactive 15. Think about this, folks. It’s two days. Each day it starts at 7 a .
(Speaker 1)
m. and it goes until 5 p . m. So from 7 a . m. to 5 p .
(Speaker 1)
m. two days, it’s a two day interactive workshop. The way we do it is we do a 30 minute teaching session and then we break for 15 minutes for a question and answer session. So Aaron, what kind of great stuff happens during that 15 minute question and answer session after every teaching session? I actually think it’s the best part about the workshops because here’s what happens. I’ve been to lots of these things over the years.
(Speaker 1)
I’ve paid many thousands of dollars to go to them and you go in there And they talk in vague generalities and they’re constantly upselling you for something trying to get you to buy this thing or that thing or this program or this membership. And you don’t, you leave not getting your very specific questions answered about your business or your employees or what you’re doing on your marketing. And what’s awesome about this is we literally answer every single question that any person asks. And it’s very specific to what your business is. And what we do is we allow you as the attendee to write your questions on the whiteboard. And then we literally, as you mentioned, we answer every single question on the whiteboard.
(Speaker 1)
And then we take a 15 minute break to stretch. And this is also your opportunity to meet some of the great speakers like Pastor Dave Scarlett. You could meet Mel K. You could meet Amanda Grace. You could meet Dr. Stella Emanuel. You could just grab a coffee. You could find some alone time.
(Speaker 1)
You could get lost in the bathroom. You could try to go and get a photo with one of the speakers. You could try to photobomb a photo where someone else is getting a photo with the speakers. You could go attempt to find your phone, wallet, and your keys. Now that’s a good idea. It’s going to be great.
(Speaker 1)
And then you’re in the company of hundreds of entrepreneurs. So there’s not a lot of people in America today. In fact, there’s less than 10 million people today, according to US Debt Clock, that identifies being self employed.
(Speaker 14)
you have a country with 350 million people, that means you have less than 3 % of our population that’s even self -employed. So
(Speaker 1)
So you only have 3 out of every 100 people in America that are self -employed to begin with. And when Inc. Magazine reports that 96 % of businesses fail by default, By default, you have a one out of a thousand chance of succeeding in the game of business, but yet the average client that you and I work with, we can typically double this. I’m just no, no, no hyperbole, no exaggeration. I have thousands of testimonials to back this up.
(Speaker 18)
We have thousands of testimonials to back it up.
(Speaker 1)
But when you work with a home builder, when I work with a business owner, we can typically double the size of the company within 24 months. Yeah. Double.
(Speaker 14)
And you say double.
(Speaker 1)
Yeah. There’s businesses that we have tripled. There’s businesses we’ve grown eight X. There’s so many examples. at thrive timeshow . com but again this is the most interactive best business workshop on the planet this is objectively the highest rated and most reviewed business workshop on the planet add to that eric trump the man that runs the trump organization you say clay i still i’m not going to get a ticket unless you give me more okay fine we’re going to serve you the same meal both days true story we have we cater in the food and because I keep it simple. I literally bring in the same food both days for lunch.
(Speaker 1)
Who’s with me? Let’s go.
(Speaker 17)
Come on.
(Speaker 1)
It’s an incredible Mexican restaurant. That’s going to happen.
(Speaker 14)
Someone says, I want more.
(Speaker 1)
This is not enough.
(Speaker 16)
Give me more.
(Speaker 1)
OK. I’m not going to mention their names right now because I’m working on it behind the scenes here. But we just continue to add more and more success stories.
(Speaker 15)

(Speaker 1)

(Speaker 1)
I promise you this will be 10 times better than that. It’s like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.
(Speaker 11)
Don’t do the smoke your way to thin conference. That is I’ve tried it.
(Speaker 9)
Don’t do it. Chainsmoking is not a viable.
(Speaker 10)
I mean, it is life changing.
(Speaker 9)
It is life changing.
(Speaker 3)
If you become a chain smoker, it is life changing.
(Speaker 6)
Best weight loss program. Right.
(Speaker 4)

I’m Clay Clark and reminding you and inviting you to come out to the two day interactive Thrive Time Show Workshop in beautiful Anaheim, California. Yeah, I’m a brand strategist and it’s been really easy to go to a lot of events like this and just leave really in your head like what to do next.
(Speaker 6)
Already there’s the strategic, step -by -step, real -life implementation that we can do to our business and I’m super excited to be here and very excited that Eric Hump is here and that is going to be epic. Hi, my name is Erica and it has been amazing being here at the conference. I’m learning so much
(Speaker 3)
much. Everything is perfect for me. Clay Clark, man, he is one character.
(Speaker 4)
That’s a good word for him, character.
(Speaker 8)
Yeah, that is it.
(Speaker 6)
Good, driven, smart, and I’ve never met a guy who was so hyper all the time.
(Speaker 7)
He’s doing so much good. And then I met his mother, and she just says, She just lets him be Clay Clark.
(Speaker 6)
I mean, so he’s endorsed by his mother and he’s doing magnificent work. So it was great meeting you out there and all the people that he surrounds himself with. His Clay Clark starts his days at five o ‘clock in the morning. Oh, it’s incredible. Yeah. He’s, he’s like, he’s, he’s a machine.
He’s a machine. But his, you know, I could, I have problems with my company starting at nine o ‘clock. He has hundreds of people showing up at 5 .00 AM in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Man, he’s a leader of a leader. He’s fantastic. Yeah, man.
No, he is. He is. And it’s, so it’s, it’s, um, you know, for, for the folks that aren’t familiar with you and by a few and far between, I first came across you, gosh, probably 15 years ago, or maybe even 20.
