Get ready to enter the Thrive Time Show! Look, look, as a father of five, that’s what I’mma dive. So if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi. It’s C and Z up on your radio. And now three, two, one, here we go. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. Started from the bottom, and that’s what we gotta do. Blake. Oh, yeah. What is up? How are you doing? I am doing good. I’ll tell you what. Today, we’re going to finish up the chicken palace for my kids. It’s for me and my wife and my kids. But we’re finishing up the chicken palace. Concrete on the floor. I’m pumped. There we go. Well, today we’re diving into the four steps to getting backlinks to boost your website’s ranking. Come on. Now, we have a lot of Thrivers all over the world asking about this backlinking for their SEO strategy. And so today, we have a question from Kelsey in South Carolina. She’s actually a marketing professional. She asks, how do you go about generating massive amounts of backlinks for your company’s website. So we’re going to unpack this for her and help her understand the ways and preferred methods, non-preferred methods to getting backlinks. I just want to point out that Marshall just referenced all around the world, which you were quoting Justin Bieber and you didn’t cite him. Yeah, I didn’t cite him. So we’re going to pay a royalty to old Jamie there. Okay, we’ll move on. In the overview for today’s episode, we’re going to learn what a backlink is, understand why backlinks matter, understand how to get a backlink, and then the fourth step of actually going and getting those backlinks. Okay, so let’s dive on in. So first, understanding what a backlink is. Let’s get out our definition magician here. Backlinks as cited by Webopedia. Search engine optimization terminology, a backlink is a hyperlink that links from a web page back to your own web page or website, also called an inbound link. These links are important in determining the popularity or importance of your website. Some search engines, including Google, will consider websites with more backlinks more relevant in search results pages. May also be written as two separate words, backlink. I’m going to help you guys kind of understand this at a very, very, very simple level, because that’s how my third grade mind works. Basically, back in the day, when you would write a research paper, maybe you’re watching this right now, and you’re in college, and you write research papers. When you write your paper, at the top, you have to give it a title. And underneath that title, then you begin to write kind of your main idea, you know, you kind of, it’s, you know, you might call it your hypothesis or your thesis, or, you know, the point is you’re gonna write your kind of your main idea, then you support it with lots of content. And at the bottom, you have to cite it, like you have to cite your sources. You have to say, this is where I got this information. So you say, I got this other information from MTV.com or something. And when you are, as a writer of a paper, when you link back, when you cite in the paper, you say, I got this from Harvard, you’re pointing back to Harvard. Well, if thousands of kids all around the world, thousands of people, thousands of people, let’s just say there’s thousands of people writing papers, and everyone keeps citing Harvard in these studies, over time you would you’d infer that, wow, Harvard must be pretty credible if everyone is linking or citing Harvard. If everyone’s pointing back and saying, I got my information here, over time you would say that’s probably a pretty credible thing if everyone’s quoting the same thing. The same is true with your website. So your website was created by college kids and so your website is designed to work the same way. And so your website up here is something that you believe is credible, but if other sites, let’s say that Harvard linked back to you, that is a backlink. They’re linking to you. If MTV linked to you, that’s a backlink. And the more backlinks you have from highly credible sources like a Harvard or an MTV, that would allow your site to push up higher in the Google rankings and that’s part of their algorithm. From the very beginning of the web, the interwebs here, the interwebs, there is a company started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Walk me through that, walk me through that story. Okay, well basically the Google guys, Larry and Sergey, they met in college I want to say back was it 94? 97. 97, see 97, fact checker right there, boom. So they meet and basically they met and they’re kind of going, they’re talking, I’m not sure how the conversation goes down exactly, but essentially it’s, I bet you we could come up with a better way for people to find information accurately using the internet. Because the internet at that point, when you would search for anything, you would go ahead and you would go up to your search or you would be using like a lot of times you’d use AOL.com or you would use you know one of those kind of search engines of the day and when you would search on AOL you would go up to their search and there would just be ads everywhere. An ad over here, the weather’s over here, the sports score was here and you just couldn’t like it just so much stuff and the search bar is really small. And then once you searched, when you landed on your search results, the ads basically were like the entirety of the search. Almost none of it was quote-unquote organic. It was just the results were all ads. And it was just mind-boggling and terrible, and it wasn’t very good as a user. And so it wasn’t something that you wanted to do. Well, these guys, Larry and Sergey, what they did is they decided to start a search engine called back rub and the idea of back rub was that it would be rewarding sites that had the most back links that was their whole idea the site was actually called back rub and what happened is is they decided to use Stanford’s server and they use the Stanford server for basically to a point where the but they can Stanford can no longer justify these two guys using that much of their bandwidth that much of the school’s processing power was being used by these two dudes. Well the website initially, we’ll put the graphic up here, it was initially launched here at stanford.edu. So you had the google.stanford.edu. It was actually part of the Stanford website, so it was part of the college website. And they actually wrote this paper called the anatomy of a large-scale hypertextual web search engine excerpt. And in this paper, this is what they say. They said, we present Google, a prototype of a large-scale search engine which makes heavy use of the structure present in hypertext. Google is designed to crawl and index the web efficiently and produce much more satisfying search results than existing systems. The prototype with a full text and hyperlinked database of at least 24 million pages can be found at google.stanford.edu. And what’s really cool is it’s still there. So you can go there right now today, and you can kind of see it. It’s sort of a historical website. You can go there right now and check it out. And it’s a really neat deal because these college kids, remember, they had that college mindset of, hey, if we write a paper, we need to cite something. They had that mindset, and they brought that to the internet. So it’s really awesome for you as a business owner, is you just now are on a quest to get backlinks, because the more backlinks you have, the more credibility you have in Google. And you’ll move right up there. And it’s not about who spends the most money, it’s about who has the most high quality backlinks, who is truly the authority on the subject, and who has the most text. They talk a lot about the hypertextual text, they talk a lot about the text. And the way the internet works is HTML text, just text, words that you can highlight on the screen. We’re gonna pull up an example right now of HTML text on a website. You can see it right now. So if we’re looking here on a website, just look at this website here. Look at the very bottom of eitrlounge.com. We’re pulling it up on the screen right now. eitrlounge.com, that’s one of my companies. You’re gonna notice there’s a lot of text here on the page, as you can see as we click through, there’s a lot of text. So the combination of text and backlinks is what makes our site top in Google in our market. So now as we pull up on the screen, as we go ahead and Google Tulsa haircuts, as you see right now, we’re Googling Tulsa haircuts. We’re also searching here, let’s go ahead and search for Tulsa men’s haircuts. As you can see on the screen, our site is pulling up top. Why is it pulling up top in Google? Because we have the most HTML text, original, honest, high integrity text. We didn’t copy text from anybody. And we have the most backlinks. But backlinks are a big component of this process. Now, one more thing you have to understand, and I’m going to read this to you, is the Google guys, Larry and Sergey, they submitted a paper kind of explaining what Google would be like. And this is how they described it. They said it would have these features. It would feature super search relevancy. It would have ad-free results. So when you’re searching, you wouldn’t find just ads. How frustrating would that be if you’re searching for something and everything you find is an ad? So they wanted to make sure it didn’t do that. It also had the ability to create advanced custom searches that include domains outside of Stanford. Because remember, it was all just at Stanford. And it allowed them to do search indexing. And relevancy feedback was used to improve Google’s central index, providing better search results from Google as well as stanford.edu. New search features added to Google Custom Search will immediately be present on the Stanford Google Custom Search. They’re saying, look, we’re making this cool thing and we’re going to be able to find a more accurate way to search and find non-ads. Now, the crazy thing is to do that, they literally download the internet every day. They download all the websites every day and they basically crawl it, as they call it, and they’re searching and they’re indexing it. So it’s almost like you had an encyclopedia that every day you’re adding new entries to. And so you add it and something moves up to the top something moves to the bottom and they’re indexing every day Just it’d be like if you physically had a physical encyclopedia or a book and you just keep adding chapters to it And so the book gets bigger and bigger and bigger and that essentially is what a backlink is all about The next step is to understand why a backlink matters. Okay, so let’s begin to unpack this Yeah, okay. So there’s a quote here that I really like it’s from Jerry Bass He’s the best-selling author of Soft Selling in a Hard World. He says, the law of credibility, stick to the law of credibility, don’t say anything you can’t prove. Okay, Clay, walk me through this here. Okay, well what you have to look at is that I have one site over here, so let’s say my site is EITRLounge.com. On this site, if this site has a lot of high quality sites that link to it, they backlink to it, so let’s say that the news links to it. Let’s say that the local newspaper links to it. Let’s say that a really high quality blog links to it. And this is all true. It’s been in the local newspaper. It’s been featured on the news. It’s done really well. Then over here, let’s say that Gary doesn’t have any backlinks or he has one backlink, and it’s from Gary’s mom. So Gary’s mom is linking to him from her Facebook page. She puts a little link going, check out Gary’s haircut business. I’m excited for him. If that’s the case, which one in your mind is more credible? Which one of these is more credible? Ask yourself right now, which one is more credible? The one that has all the links from the news, from the celebrity blog, from the newspaper? Or is it the one that has one link from Gary’s mom on Facebook? And that’s what Google does, and that’s how they decide who comes up top in Google. It’s whoever has the most content, whoever has the most back links. OK? I want to make sure we’re getting this. I want to make sure that we don’t miss this, OK? There’s only really four things that affect your Google rank. Work with me. One is you want to have a site that has that HTML compliance, or you call it the architecture that Google likes. And we’re going to have one of our incredible teammates, Dan McKenna, who has awesome trainings coming out that you guys can search on how to do this. Okay? So one is HTML compliance architecture. I recommend that you use a WordPress site. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s okay. We’ll teach you. The second is who has the most backlinks. Okay? So who has the most high-quality backlinks. The third is who has the most original content, the actual original content, original words, original content on the site. And the fourth is the mobile compliance and reviews. So this is how you do it. Again, it’s HTML compliance, backlinks, original content, and mobile compliance. Whoever has the best score equals top of Google. So today we’re really dialing in here on this concept of backlinks so that you can become a backlink machine. Back to you. Backlink machine, okay. So the backlinks matter because of the law of credibility. The first reason, credibility in a world where anyone can say anything on the internet. Okay, so that’s why we need the backlinks. I’m gonna say this, on the internet, that’s why I love thrive15.com. That’s actually one of the main ideas behind Thrive. I don’t talk about it very much, but we’re in this information age, but we’re also in the misinformation age. We’re in an age where people can write anything about anybody. You can go on YouTube and write really terrible things about people or comments or blogs or chat rooms and there’s no repercussions. You have an anonymous username and there’s no repercussions for doing that. Google wants to bring some transparency to who you are and how you got up to the top of Google is based upon credibility. And so all these backlinks are going to support, it’s like citations for your website. The second reason is it’s going to filter results to make your organic Google search nicer. Okay? So you’re going to come up higher in Google. Yeah. And the thing is, what’s really nice for you as a consumer, and for me as a consumer, is if I’m Googling a haircut place, I don’t want to show up at a shady place. I want to show up at the good place. So as a consumer, it makes it a nicer thing. But it kind of filters it, because if someone’s not willing to go through the diligence needed to generate backlinks, they’re probably also not going to take care of their shop or their business. And so it’s a very good way to verify. I mean, imagine this. Imagine Google didn’t do this, and imagine there was a tornado in your city. In Tulsa, we’re unfortunately in Tornado Alley. And in Moore, Oklahoma, I wanna put a graphic up on the screen, we can see this real quick. But if you look at the size of the cyclone, it’s unbelievable, but Moore, Oklahoma was completely devastated by a tornado. So it goes through the town and it completely just destroys our town. It just, this tornado just goes in there and just wipes out this whole city. But when it leaves the city, a lot of people, their houses were on fire, their houses were gone. Imagine that Google didn’t do these backlinks. I would go up and I would search for home repair. And when I search, the person who comes up to the top could have just started the website last night. There’s opportunists who want to take advantage of people in their time of need and they would say, I’m going to build a website right now. So they build a website called www.scam.com, but they don’t call it scam.com, they call it something or other.com. And you and I go up there and we pay them because we’re in our time of need and we need to have our bathroom or our kitchen or our roof fixed. And we pay them, and then they’re gone tomorrow. We paid today, they’re gone tomorrow, they scammed us. Google says, we don’t want that kind of thing happening. We want legitimate, high-quality sites to come up. So now, if we were to Google, and if you follow this analogy through, if we were to Google home restoration or home repair, only the site with the most backlinks would come up higher in the Google search results. It’s a better deal for you, a better deal for me, that’s how it works. Then the third reason, exactly like what we were talking about, is it’s like citing in your research paper, in the analogy that you were talking about earlier. It gives you a really nice way where if you’re on the internet and you’re quoting somebody, let’s say I’m quoting Donald Trump. It’s a nice way for me to link back to Donald and say, hey, Donald, this is what I just quoted that you said. And so it allows Donald to get credit for what he did, and he gets a backlink for doing so. Or if I quoted Oprah, I can cite her, link back to her, she gets credit for it. It’s a great way to make her website more valuable as a result of me quoting it. Now we know what a backlink is. We know why it’s important. Now let’s get into the meat of it. How do we get a backlink? How do we get a backlink? Step number three. Okay, so let’s first walk through the first non preferred method number one. This is non preferred method number one. I won’t spend a whole lot of time on this, but I do want to make sure we’re getting this because this is the old-school move. I used to do this move. I’m sure you’re doing this move. If you’re watching this right now, you’re probably doing this move. That’s okay. We got to start somewhere, but you got this thing called the business card, and so you drive to the local event. You go out to some chamber networking event, and let’s just say it’s some sort of breakfast-themed chamber event. You go out there and you say, hey, you know, Carl, here’s my card. If you’ll link to me, I’ll link to you. And Carl’s like, well, okay, I’ll try to remember that. He forgets. You don’t get a link. He doesn’t get a link. This goes on for years. At the end of four years of aggressive card passing outing, you have maybe 40 links. That’s what I did with the DJConnection.com. If you go to DJConnection.com, I used to do that and that was not a good thing. That was not a way to do it. I didn’t know about these other ways so I did it and if that’s how you’re doing it right now, you’re probably gonna look like… you’re gonna like… if you… how about this… you’re gonna start looking like Moses. Long beard, kind of getting to be like in your hundreds. How old did Moses live to be allegedly? Was he like hundreds? Pretty old. Like he didn’t live to be 45 or 70. He lived to be hundreds of years old, apparently. You’re going to start to look like that guy before you get enough backlinks to come up on top of Google. So you just don’t want to do that. OK, so first non-preferred method is the old, hey, I’ll link to you if you link to me. The second non-preferred method is just doing the old email out requests for backlinks from colleagues. It’s kind of like just the digital version of what we were just talking about. You’re just sending people requests, saying, hey, will you link to me? Your friend’s like, I don’t even know what that means. I’m not sure how to do it. I’ll get back to it. Again, probably not gonna happen. Okay, so let’s get into the preferred methods. Preferred method number one, citations. And so Kelsey’s probably saying, what is a citation? You’re under arrest, there’s a citation. No, different citation. Okay, so this definition is, citations are defined as mentions of your business name and address on other web pages, even if there’s no link to your website. An example of this citation might be an online Yellow Pages directory where your business is listed, but not linked to. So citations can also be found on local chamber of commerce pages or on a local business association page. If anywhere your business is referenced, so I want to make sure we’re unpacking that a little bit, let’s say that I go to yellowpages.com. Yellowpages.com prides itself on having the accurate phone numbers, name, information, and address for your business. There’s also the whitepages.com. Let’s say there’s the local chamberofcommerce.com. There’s a local chamber.com. Anywhere where there’s a directory, anywhere that you’re listed, that right there is called a citation. And when a citation site links back to you, so this site here, yellowpages.com, whitepages.com, chamber.com, they link back to you, you get a point. So when they link to your website, you score points. So that right there is an awesome thing. Boom, a lot of backlinks for you. A lot of backlinks. Okay, so to paraphrase former Arizona Cardinals coach, Dennis Green, okay, citations help search engines confirm that businesses are who we thought they were. Here we go. And I know it’s kind of confusing, but work me on this. They are who we thought we were. What we’re talking about is that, if you, let’s say you have an address and Yellow Pages says your address is at 1609 South Boston. And Super Pages says you’re at 1100 Riverwalk Drive. And the other one says you’re at, you know, off of 51st and whatever street. Google starts to go, that’s kind of sketchy, you know? Because all your addresses are different. And the way, like we talked about with the tornado example, where if you just threw up a website today and threw up a hodgepodge. I mean, you just started the business today because a tornado was yesterday and you just threw up a website real quick and you’re not verifying your address because you just started leasing it tomorrow. That is not gonna be a verifiable citation. So the citation has to be verifiable and there’s a process we’re gonna coach you through. In terms of all these different methods and resources to get these backlinks. There’s a first preferred method, that’s citations. Second preferred method that we’re getting into, press releases. Now, before we get into press releases, I wanna, I hate to do this, but I’m gonna bring it back real quick because I wanna hit on citations. There are four mega moves, four tools that you need to know about, okay? Four, I’m gonna read them to you. We’re gonna put them on the screen right now, okay? The first one is New Star. New Star, N-E-U-S-T-A-R, put it on the screen. Okay, we’re gonna put the link right here, this specific link we’re putting on the screen. Factual, that’s another company that helps you with your citations. Another is Axiom, it’s A-X-C-I-O-M. You might say it’s Ax-Ki-Om. Whatever you wanna call it, that’s what works. The fourth one is Info Group. Info Group. We’re going to put the links on the screen right now. You can drag them over, take those notes. We’re going to put them on the screen right now. You have to pay these companies. One of them is going to be $400, one’s $0, one’s $100. You got to look at the prices change. I don’t work for them. I don’t benefit at all from you using them. I’m just telling you this is what you have to do. And what you do is you’re going to want to register with two of these four, three of these four, preferably all four. And when you register with these sites, they verify you are who we thought we were. You are. And what happens is, is that Google now sees that your site has been verified on hundreds and actually even thousands of citation sites. This is so cool. Cool. I mean, this is nerdy, but this is, that means a company for $400 can get you a thousand verified links that are not unethical. It’s real high quality links. This is a, this is a, this is a leprechaun. I can’t do with a leprechaun. How does that, how does a leprechaun sound? I’m probably the furthest thing from a leprechaun. Oh, that’s a leprechaun. I can’t do it. I got to, I got to work on that. But the point is, the leprechaun, this is like a unicorn that’s being ridden by a leprechaun, and we’re riding it into a black hole that we can pull out of. We’ve got to the end of the rainbow. We found the pot of gold. That’s what this is like. It’s like a super move. This is a super move. How do you kick? Sonic boom. It’s amazing. All right. So, four resources that thrivers can use to get these citations. Could you read each one of them one more time? Because I want to get some Street Fighter sound effects so you don’t forget these. Here we go. New Star. How do you kick? And then Factual. Sonic Boom! Okay, and then Axiom. A-X-C-I-O-M. Got you a kick! And then Info Group. I don’t know another one. Okay. Blanco! Blanco! There you go. Okay. All right. So, now we’re getting into preferred method number two, press releases. Ooh! Press releases. Ooh! Okay, so what is a press release? Press release is a public relations announcement issued to the news media and other targeted publications. That’s from entrepreneur.com. So, walk me through this process of getting back links from press releases. I wanna make sure we make this available for the Thrivers. We’re going to send you Thrivers right now, press releases, okay? We’re going to send you a press release where we announced our partnership with the U.S. Chamber. Let’s give them that one. Let’s also give you the press release. We’re going to give it to you right now, the one where the elephant in the room, one of the companies I’m an owner of, where we got involved with the local Tulsa Boys Home and did a charitable event. Let’s give you those two press releases. We’re going to send you those actual press releases, okay, because you have to follow the format. I’m not going to overwhelm you on that because I think when you see it, it’ll be helpful. But basically a press release is one 8.5 by 11. That’s 8.5. Why can’t I write that? It’s 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper. And across the top of it, you’re going to have the title of the news story. You’re going to have the subtitle there. You’re going to have your actual, all your information right there. You’re going to have your contact info. We’ll send this to you so you guys can see it and look at it and unpack it in greater detail. But the point is you send this to the media. Now, the cool thing about the media is every day, if you and I were to go work, let’s say today I work at Channel 6. You get hired to work at Channel 8. I work at Channel 6. You’re doing the weather in San Diego. I am actually doing the news in San Diego with Ron Burgundy. Okay, so I’m over here I’m doing the news if I’m doing the news every day. I have to do what? Come up with a new story. I have to have a new story ready and to have a new story I have to have some it’s compelling that you know people would want to watch so folks tonight at 6 We’re gonna be talking about a small boy that actually was I mean is that interesting? I don’t know folks tonight at 6 of us have a compelling story about a small boy at the age of eight won the National Spelling Bee when competing against 18-year-olds. And you’re going, OK, I might want to tune in tonight. They have to find a compelling story that has to be supported by facts. They have to fact check it. And they have to have the visuals. They have to have the B-roll, the actual, they have to have the footage, the pictures, the video. They have to have the statistics. They have to have the compelling story. They have to have that all every day. Have you ever had to write a research paper? Imagine you wrote one every day. I mean, that’s what those guys are doing. And they’re looking for news. They’re looking around. I mean, sometimes in your local news, you’re watching the news and you’re going, tonight at six, a small dog gets arrested. And you’re going, what? And you’re going, how does that become news how is that news is that even a real thing you’re going is that a real thing those kinds of stories happen because no one has any news they’re like we don’t have we give up we’re just this guy had a dog and it was walking across the road and the policeman pulled it over so tonight at 6 small dog gets arrested that’s how those things become stories so you’re helping the media by writing a press release that you send to them. That’s what we’re talking about. So we’re sending the media, the local, the national, the regional media, these press releases. Yep. Okay, so the first thing that we have to do is we have to write them and we’re gonna send everybody the resource on what it looks like, what to include, everything that’s contained in it. Now, Henry Ford, I want to put this quote on there, Henry Ford says thinking is the hardest thing there is to do. Therefore, very few people do it. I’m paraphrasing, we’ll put the actual quote up here. But Henry Ford’s talking about how thinking is hard. I mean, to think, I’m just giving you an example. Like in my life, I have beta mode, where it’s kind of like, an example, like meta is to think above. It’s like where you’re not just acting, you’re not just doing. Meta is where you’re thinking above, where you’re going, I’m going to plan out my day. I’m going to think. I’m going to write. If you’re going to write a story, write a book, you’re going to sit down and do some artwork, or compose a letter, or read a book, you have to think. And thinking is hard, because that’s like you have to do time out. Everyone quit talking to me. I have to think. Then there’s that alpha mode, where I’ve got to get it done. Let’s go. We’ve got to execute. I’m not thinking. I’m doing. I spend most of my day as a leader in alpha mode and I spend a little bit of my day in that in that kind of that whole meta mode. Then there’s that beta mode where people are kind of telling you what to do and you’re but the point is what I’m saying here is this requires you to get into a meta mode. So you need to take at least an hour and block it off your schedule right now to write a press release. But we’re gonna send you those templates so hopefully they’ll help you. How long does it usually take you to write a press release? I write it, the first press release, it takes me 30 minutes, and then I will read it out loud five times. Okay, so we’re getting into step two here. So after you write the press release, you’ve got to spell check it, you’ve got to proof it. And that is amazing how very few humans in the world spell check. And even here on Thrive, I’ve got to tell you guys, this is a true story, on the technology here, a lot of these video editing solutions that we use, they don’t include a spell checker in it. We’ve realized that you as thrivers need stuff spelled right. We now have a spell checking arm of our team. That’s just a big thing we do. You don’t want to send that out to the whole world and have it spelled wrong. When we’re spell checking, are we spell checking just reading through it in our head, or how are we spell checking? Is there any tips for spell checking? One, just throw that beast into word, hit spell check, do it. But then you need to read it out loud five times. And when you read it out loud, what happens when you read is it literally changes the way your brain works. I don’t want to get too into it because I’m not a neurologist, but when you’re talking out loud, you’re saying the words, it’ll force you to think differently than when you’re saying them in your head. And you’ll go, that doesn’t make sense, or that was weird, or that’s weird grammar, and you gotta do that until it’s right. And if you’re someone who can’t prove your own work, because even after saying it out loud five times, you’re not quite sure, have somebody professionally edit that for you. Cool, so I’m a thriver. I’ve written my press release. I know why I’m writing my press release. I’ve spell-checked it. Now what do I do with it? Step number three, okay? I’m gonna wanna send it out to the media. OK, so we’re going to have to maybe pay a little bit of money. We’ve got to get it out there. We’ve got to send it to the right people. Who am I sending this to? I’m going to give you two resources right now, two specific ones, and then a third kind of bonus I’d like to share. The first one you want to do, and this is something, again, Thrivers, I want to make sure that we’re getting this. We’re going to put the actual graphic for you on the screen, OK? The first one is the a b newswire.com A b newswire.com that’s a site where when you send your press release So you take your press release and you send it to this company a b newswire a b newswire Will then send it out to all of the other news media all around the world and Many times you can pick up 300 media outlets will actually pick up your story and they might not feature it on the nightly news but they’ll feature it on their website which gives you what? 300 backlinks! What? That’s like a backlink party! That’s a that’s huge! That’s huge! That’s 300 back and says, bam. And I am not in control of this company. I do not get paid to endorse this company. I do use this company, but there is a fee associated with that. And I don’t want to get into what the fees are other than I can tell you it might be like $40, might be $50, might be $20. Just go and look at it, check it out. The second resource I want to refer you guys to is PressReleasePing.com. Now there is a national newswire service that you can also pay for and we can send you those resources if you want to email info at thrive15.com, we can send those to you. But those are subscription based. I mean if I own a PR agency, which I do, or if I own a business where I’m going to work with the media all the time, it might be worth that $1,500 a month fee, but you’re paying like $1,500 to $2,000 a month for those services. So I just want to make sure you’re getting this. These two solutions are very, very affordable, but that third solution we’re giving you, you know, solution number one is the AB Newswire, two is the PressReleaseSpring.com, but the three is you want to go with the actual news wire. There are services you can do that, like the Associated Press. You can do services like that, and you also want to send it to your local media. Okay, so the wire and the local media. So I’m talking about you actually email it to the actual news station and send it to them. Say, here’s the news, here’s the news, here’s the press release. Send it to the reporter who, if you live in a town and you’re writing a story about baseball, send it to the reporter in your town who normally covers baseball. Just go to their website, find out who’s covered the last baseball story, send it to them. If you’re having a charitable event, look for the reporter who covers charity and send it to them. And if they feature it and you get a backlink, that’s what? Big points for you. And the more backlinks you have, the higher you go up in Google, because you’re more credible. The more credible you are, the more your site ranks, the more your site ranks, the more people link to it, the more people link to it, the more people link to it, the higher you get, the more money you make. Why are we doing this? So we can make some money. And why are we making some money? So we can be happy. And why are we wanting to be happy? Because we only live once. So I’m telling you, you have to do this if you want to get your site up to the top of Google. And if you want to make more money, I’m talking about copious amounts of money. I’m talking about thrivers. I’m not exaggerating. We literally have thrivers all around the world right now who are doubling, doubling? I’m talking about doubling their sales, tripling their sales doing this right now. All around the world, they’re doing it. People like me with moderate intelligence, kind of moderate low. But anyway, you can do this, you can triple your income, but it’s up to you. Are you gonna do it? Knowledge without application is meaningless. Are you gonna do it? I believe in you. I know you can do it. Marshall, back to you. And that’s step number four. Go out and get backlinks. You have what a backlink is. You know why it’s important. You know specifically how to get those backlinks. And so now the fourth step is to actually go get it. Knowledge without application is meaningless. So Clay, thank you so much for sharing this with us. Any closing thoughts on these backlinks? I just want to say that the backlink is a very flattering thing you can do for a company. It’s a thing where you, if you like a company and you link back to them, you’re saying, hey I like you enough to link back to you publicly on my website. And we have Thrivers all around the world right now who link back to Thrive15.com. They say, I love you guys, here’s a link back to you. We wanna spread the love, we wanna help you guys. So as you go on to the Thrive platform, there is a commenting section where you can interact with other Thrivers. Feel free to give them a link to your stuff, tell people where your website is, use the community, network with other people. I’m telling you, you need those back links. You need to back link to people you like because it helps them as well. So again, go out there, get those backlinks. Let’s see if we can double our income this year, Thrivers. I believe in you, Marshall believes with you. Boom. The number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411% over last year. We are Jared and Jennifer Johnson. We own Platinum Pest and Lawn and are located in Owasso, Oklahoma. And we have been working with Thrive for business coaching for almost a year now. Yeah, so what we want to do is we want to share some wins with you guys that we’ve had by working with Thrive. First of all, we’re on the top page of Google now, okay. I just want to let you know what type of accomplishment this is. Our competition, Orkin, Terminix, they’re both 1.3 billion dollar companies. They both have two to three thousand pages of content attached to their website. So to basically go from virtually non-existent on Google to up on the top page is really saying something. But it’s come by being diligent to the systems that Thrive has, by being consistent and diligent on doing podcasts, and staying on top of those podcasts to really help with getting up on what they’re listing and ranking there with Google. And also, we’ve been trying to get Google reviews, asking our customers for reviews. And now we’re the highest rated and most reviewed Pest and Lawn company in the Tulsa area. And that’s really helped with our conversion rate. And the number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411% over last year. Wait, say that again. How much are we up? 411%. So 411% we’re up with our new customers. Amazing. Right. So not only do we have more customers calling in, we’re able to close those deals at a much higher rate than we were before. Right now our closing rate is about 85% and that’s largely due to first of all, like our Google reviews that we’ve gotten. People really see that our customers are happy, but also we have a script that we follow. And so when customers call in, they get all the information that they need. That script has been refined time and time again. It wasn’t a one-and-done deal. It was a system that we followed with Thrive in the refining process, and that has obviously, the 411% shows that that system works. Yeah, so here’s a big one for you. So last week alone, our booking percentage was 91%. We actually booked more deals, more new customers last year than we did the first five months of last year from before we worked with Thrive. So again, we booked more deals last week than the first five months of last year. It’s incredible, but the reason why we have that success by implementing the systems that Thrive has taught us and helped us out with. Some of those systems that we’ve implemented are group interviews, that way we’ve really been able to come up with a really great team. We’ve created and implemented checklists that way everything gets done and it gets done right. It creates accountability. We’re able to make sure that everything gets done properly both out in the field and also in our office. And also doing the podcast like Jared had mentioned that has really, really contributed to our success, but that, like I said, the diligence and consistency in doing those in that system has really, really been a big blessing in our lives, and also, you know, it’s really shown that we’ve gotten the success from following those systems. So, before working with Thrive, we were basically stuck. Really no new growth with our business. And we were in a rut, and we didn’t know. Okay, the last three years, our customer base had pretty much stayed the same. We weren’t shrinking, but we weren’t really growing either. Yeah. And so we didn’t really know where to go, what to do, how to get out of this rut that we’re in. But Thrive helped us with that. They implemented those systems, they taught us those systems, they taught us the knowledge that we needed in order to succeed. Now it’s been a grind. Absolutely, it’s been a grind this last year. But we’re getting those fruits from that hard work and the diligent effort that we’re able to put into it. So again, we were in a rut, Thrive helped us get out of that rut and and if you’re thinking about working with Thrive, quit thinking about it and just do it. Do the action and you’ll get the results. It will take hard work and discipline but that’s what it’s going to take in order to really succeed. So we just want to give a big shout out to Thrive, a big thank you out there to Thrive. We wouldn’t be where we’re at now without their help. Hi, I’m Dr. Mark Moore. I’m a pediatric dentist. Through our new digital marketing plan, we have seen a marked increase in the number of new patients that we’re seeing every month, year over year. One month, for example, we went from 110 new patients the previous year to over 180 new patients in the same month. And overall, our average is running about 40 to 42% increase month over month, year over year. The group of people required to implement our new digital marketing plan is immense starting with a business coach, videographers, photographers, web designers. Back when I graduated dental school in 1985, nobody advertised. The only marketing that was ethically allowed in everybody’s eyes was mouth-to-mouth marketing. By choosing to use the services, you’re choosing to use a proven turnkey marketing and coaching system that will grow your practice and get you the results that you’re looking for. I went to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry from 1983 to 1985. Hello my name is Charles Colaw with Colaw Fitness. Today I want to tell you a little bit about Clay Clark and how I know Clay Clark. Clay Clark has been my business coach since 2017. He’s helped us grow from two locations to now six locations. We’re planning to do seven locations in seven years and then franchise. And Clay has done a great job of helping us navigate anything that has to do with running the business, building the systems, the checklists, the workflows, the audits, how to navigate lease agreements, how to buy property, how to work with brokers and builders. This guy is just amazing. This kind of guy has worked in every single industry. He’s written books with Lee Crocker, the head of Disney, with the 40,000 cast members. He’s friends with Mike Lindell. He does Reawaken America tours where he does these tours all across the country where 10,000 or more people show up to some of these tours. On the day-to-day, he does anywhere from about 160 companies. He’s at the top. He has a team of business coaches, videographers, and graphic designers, and web developers, and they run 160 companies every single week. So think of this guy with a team of business coaches running 160 companies. So in the weekly, he’s running 160 companies. Every six to eight weeks, he’s doing Reawaken America tours. Every six to eight weeks, he’s also doing business conferences where 200 people show up and he teaches people a 13-step proven system that he’s done and worked with billionaires, helping them grow their companies. So I’ve seen guys from startups go from startup to being multi-millionaires, teaching people how to get time freedom and financial freedom through the system of critical thinking, document creation, organizing everything in their head to building it into a franchisable, scalable business. One of his businesses has like 500 franchises. That’s just one of the companies or brands that he works with. So, an amazing guy. Elon Musk, kind of like a smart guy. He kind of comes off sometimes as socially awkward, but he’s so brilliant and he’s taught me so much. When I say that, Clay is like, he doesn’t care what people think when you’re talking to him. He cares about where you’re going in your life and where he can get you to go. And that’s what I like him most about him. He’s like a good coach. A coach isn’t just making you feel good all the time. A coach is actually helping you get to the best you. And Clay has been an amazing business coach. Through the course of that we became friends. My most impressive thing was when I was shadowing him one time. We went into a business deal and listened to it. I got to shadow and listen to it. When we walked out I knew that he could make millions on the deal and they were super excited about working with him. He told me, he’s like, I’m not going to touch it. I’m going to turn it down because he knew it was going to harm the common good of people in the long run. The guy’s integrity just really wowed me. It brought tears to my eyes to see that this guy, his highest desire was to do what’s right. And anyways, just an amazing man. So anyways, impacted me a lot. He’s helped navigate. Anytime I’ve gotten nervous or worried about how to run the company, or navigating competition and an economy that’s, like I remember, we got closed down for three months. He helped us navigate on how to stay open, how to how to get back open, how to just survive through all the covid shutdowns, lockdowns. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to make your life epic. We love you guys. We appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. Right, this is where we used to live years ago. This is our old neighborhood. See, it’s nice, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing, and this is our old team. And by team, I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing. And this is our new team. We went from four to fourteen. And I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales. Which is awesome, but Ryan is a really great salesman. So we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place, we’ve gone from one to 10 locations in only a year. In October 2016, we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd. We’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business that we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you, thank you, thank you, times a thousand. The Thrive Time Show two day interactive business workshops. Because we teach you what you need to know to grow.
