One of the gentlemen, his name is Bob Healy, came to our conference with a quasi -functional prototype. He had terminal cancer, and Bob came to me and said, help me.
Entrepreneur Clay Clark has built several multi -million dollar businesses. Now, he helps budding entrepreneurs like Bob turbocharge their ideas with a 14 -step plan.
And grillblazer .
com is now a massively successful company that’s becoming a household name in many American homes.
This is American Thought Leaders, and I’m Jan Jekielek.
Are you searching for how to dominate the Google search engine results? Well on today’s show, we teach you about the VISM. That’s V -I -S -M. For without a VISM, your digital marketing dreams will perish.
And if you don’t know, now you know.
Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show. But this show does. Two men, eight kids, co -created by two different women, 13 multi -million dollar businesses.
Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to the Thrive Time Show. Yes, where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29, 18, where there is no vision, the people perish. Let me read the actual verse. It says where there is no vision, the people perish. But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29, 18. What does that have to do with today’s show? Well, I believe where there is no vism, your digital marketing dreams will perish. Where there is no VISM, V -I -S -M, V -I -S -M -V stands for video reviews. Where there are no video reviews, people don’t believe you.
Images, you got to add images to your website, S. search engine content and M more reviews you can never have enough reviews and so we have a man on today’s show and his incredible wife who are sort of the strongest implementers of this outside of I would say Elephant in the Room or Spurl CPAs up there in Canada. And Devin, at the conference, you got a chance to meet a lot of our clients that are having huge wins right now.
Oh, yeah.
And you’ve helped build a lot of their websites.
Correct.
But let’s talk about this for a second. If I’m out there listening right now and you say, Clay, give me an example. OK, let’s do it. I’m going to do a search right now for let’s do a search for Tulsa. men’s haircuts. Let’s do a search for Tulsa men’s haircuts.
I’m doing a search for it right now.
Okay.
And let’s do a search right now for Joplin gyms. We’ll do a search for those two side by side comparison. Here we go. So you got Joplin gyms, and you’ve got Tulsa men’s haircuts. Those are the two search terms. I want everybody to search right now for Tulsa men’s haircuts and do a search for Joplin gyms.
Alright, so when you search for Tulsa men’s haircuts, Why does the elephant in the room, my business, come up top twice? Why? In the first three results, why am I two of those results? That’s a good question. Perhaps if you don’t have a vism, you don’t have a vision. You don’t show up.
People can’t find you. They can’t see you online. Think about this for a second. Why do my videos so you see my website? up on the first two of the three listings then underneath that you see yelp so i’m three of them i’m two of the first four then i’m another video another video and another video so i have one two three four five five of the first seven listings are me then there’s another yelp and then there’s me well that’s that’s a lot that’s six and then there’s more me that’s seven and then there’s So I’m seven of the first 12 listings in the search result. Well, why?
Because I have a vism. Now, my job is to make things simple and repeatable that are complex. So somebody out there, Devin, might say, well, what books should I read to validate this idea? All right. So Devin, what I’m going to do is I’m going to read off the book and I’m going to try to read up nice and slow like a pro. as opposed to super fast like an ass.
And that way the listeners can take notes and find these books, okay? There’s one book called Search Engine for Dummies, written by Bruce Clay. That’s a great book for everyone to read. He’s not a charlatan. It’s called Search Engine for Dummies. For a good time, read Search Engine for Dummies.
Two, read Get Rich Click by Mark Ostrovsky. Get Rich Click by Mark Ostrovsky. The only internet marketing book endorsed by Steve Wozniak, the co -founder of Apple. The co -founder of Apple is doing okay financially and he endorses Get Rich Click. How Google Works by Eric Schmidt. How Google Works by Eric Schmidt.
How Google Works by Eric Schmidt. Get that book. When you get that book, get yourself the Retargeting Playbook by Adam Burke. The next book, I encourage you to read an incredible book here called The Art of SEO, the art of SEO. And you go, Clay, where are you getting this this list? This is this list is in my head.
And I’m trying to go at a slow enough pace so that everybody out there who can type at a decent speed per minute can can type along with us here.
So let’s Devin, can you help me review the books we just recommended again for the listeners out there?
Oh, yeah.
Go nice and slow.
Here we go.
Here we go. I’ll be your echo guy. It’s like we’re like the rap group back in the day. Run DMC.
where one guy’s rapping and the other guy kind of echoes it.
So you do your thing, and I’ll just kind of bring some echoes.
Why am I saying? Well, that right there, I just gave you guys about 3 ,000 pages to read. And I feel like if I’m a really good teacher, now I want to make sure the listeners get this. I’m, um, Devin, we had a conference where we had a lot of people attend. Yeah. And, uh, we were able to get, um, a lot of, and we had, uh, 250 people there, 275 people there.
And the vast majority of the business owners who attend, um, have become multimillionaires since working with us, which is cool.
Because a lot of them weren’t multi -millionaires.
So you’ve seen, how long have you been working with me now?
It’s been a little over five years.
So you’ve seen five of my 13 years of business coaching. Yeah.
And that’s pretty cool for you to see the people we first started working with and see their success stories.
Corey Minter and Dr. Edwards, a lot of people were around before you joined the team.
But isn’t that kind of fun to see people actually implement this stuff? Yeah, it’s really cool. Now, Albert Einstein says, if you can’t, again, I just, He says, if you can’t teach it, he says, if you can’t explain, let me give you the quote here, this is the quote, he says, if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough. So I got to thinking, you know, years ago, 13 years ago, I’m a really bad teacher. Because I would be up there teaching about canonical compliance and WordPress, the founder, Matt Mullenweg of WordPress and the connection between WordPress and Google and, you know, Bill Campbell being the coach for the founders of Google, as well as the founders for Facebook, and the connection between Amazon and all this, and people would leave going, I don’t know what that was, but I don’t get it. And I’m going, no, no, no, no, it’s easy, you see, and I would teach it again, they wouldn’t get it.
And so I have been really thinking hard about this idea, and I’m just gonna tell you this again. Where there is no vism, your digital marketing dreams will perish. What does that mean? It means when you have no vism, There is no visibility. There is no vision. People can’t find you.
It’s like you’re hiding your business. So what I wanted to do today is I want to bring on a guest who is doing it the best so that you can see, does he pass the test? So let’s talk about this, okay? Video reviews. Step one for the video reviews. You can’t be terrible.
Your service cannot be terrible. I mean, you could learn this system and go out there and try to get video reviews, but you can’t make it. leave you a positive review if your company’s terrible. If your company sucks and you’re not selling vacuums, that’s not a good thing. So Charles, at colawfitness . com, you and your wife have designed an incredible experience that makes women and men feel comfortable in the gym environment.
It’s well lit, it’s clean, it’s nice.
The people who work there are kind. What would happen to Colaw Fitness today, if you went out there and tried to implement this system, VISM, getting those video reviews, images, search engine content, more reviews, if your service wasn’t good, what would happen? Well, when you’re showcasing your product, if the product isn’t really good, or the service that you have as well as the product, it wouldn’t look good. So online, if you’re posting video reviews and testimonials coming in every day, and you don’t actually have a good product, a good service, a good looking club, happy customers, There’s not really, I mean, you can only get so much content off of a poor service.
You can probably get a few friends to kind of get fake reviews, but to get thousands and thousands, even tens of thousands of reviews like you’ve done with some of these companies, I mean, you’ve got to have a good product or service. You team up with them, and they follow the vism, and it makes them even grow more. You have 3 ,717 reviews right now in Joplin, and batting second, Batting second in the Search Engine Olympics is Planet Fitness, coming in with a whopping 246 reviews. Now, how can a company as long…
I mean, Planet Fitness has thousands of locations.
Yes. I mean, seriously, don’t they have over 1 ,000 locations? 1 ,800 or 1 ,900.
How can they be that big and not…
How are they not able to keep up with you on reviews?
I mean, again, how is it possible? Well, I think they have a lot more money. I don’t know. And they’ve got some good systems.
They’ve been around a lot longer. And they have a lot more investor money. And we actually have to be a better product, better service, really diligent on our systems a lot harder than they do.
Your team is so disciplined and doing a great job.
Now, people want to focus on, well, what do you say, and how do you get reviews?
I’m not going to focus on that today. What I want to focus on today, because that part’s easy, you have to do a great job. Yes. You have to. Yes. And I think that’s where people, they just, it’s like we as a people, as a culture, for whatever reason, we want to skip that part.
Yep. We want to just skip it and go, yeah, but what questions do I ask? I mean, every industry, it’s different. But essentially, you’re saying, hey, what’s your name? And how did you hear about the company? What do you like most about the service?
And what makes it different?
You know, how would you describe it to somebody else?
That kind of thing.
But people want to focus on that and not focus on the quality.
And Devin, you’ve seen this before.
Oh, yeah.
Where we’ve had where you do remember the the contractor who was a client back in the day when you were when you were first starting out.
Oh, yeah. Who screwed me and used to screw clients perpetually.
Yes.
And see, I didn’t know he was screwing me until one day we’re in a meeting and he says, this is so good. So good. He says, Hey, um, I have a question. Yeah. I said, well, he goes, how come I’m not ranking higher in Google? I said, what do you mean?
He says, it’s like, I mean, and I said, well, you got to get video reviews, V I S M. Okay. I’m going to get video reviews, new images on the site, search engine content, and more Google reviews. And he says, yeah, but it’s not working. And I said, it’s not working well, what’s going on. So I’m thinking it’s a technical issue. So I don’t know if you remember this, but John was looking at the map and why isn’t the map ranking and why, you know, why isn’t there weren’t the reviews sticking in all these kinds
and I’m thinking it’s a technical problem. So then, after looking into it, and with great enthusiasm, we go back into the website and I see, and dude, Charles, it’s the roughest inbox I’ve ever seen. Like, people are filling out the form and they’re saying, hey, such and such, I paid you $80 ,000 to replace my windows at my lake house, and I’m currently receiving cancer treatment for brain cancer and I would like it if you’d at least respond to me to tell me the status so I know you have at least completely ghosted. This is my 12th email. This is my 12th call. Or the next one would say, it would be like, hey, you never did finish my kitchen countertop.
I would like to get that finished. When’s a good time? These are nice people. And you can see when they’re filling out the form, they’re becoming increasingly hostile. And so when you reach out to a contractor, And by the way, he screwed me right at the time that I discovered that he was screwing other people. He screwed me big time.
He took about $100 ,000 of my money. Never, never, never paid me back, about 100 grand. Because we were doing a big build out of the offices and he took the final installment payment and then ghosted.
And he’d been a client of mine for about a year.
And then, so apparently he took the money that clients paid him and would go to a casino and just spend it.
So you’re paying him to like remodel your house and then he takes the money.
Later on he told me that’s what he did. That’s how he apologized. He said, I have a gambling addiction. I wanted to apologize. So he can no longer be a coach. That’s it.
I mean, seriously.
But I’m saying this. He used to say, I don’t understand why people won’t leave me good reviews. Well, it turns out people hate you. And then to Google found out that all the reviews he received were from like people that he had paid to leave a review that he hadn’t actually done work for. So let’s talk about this for a second. The ethics.
getting reviews. Now, we live in a world, Charles, you know this, where not everyone’s going to like us. So I would speculate there’s somebody out there listening right now who probably works at Planet Fitness who says, Clay Clark, I hate you. And listen, and it’s okay for you to hate me. There are other podcasts out there. Charles loves you.
Amber loves you. They all love you. They got no hate. Now me, on the other hand, I like to coach from a place of hate for the other team. If you’re not my client, I want you to lose. It starts that way.
It’s like the old Lakers versus the Celtics. I do my best coaching when I view you as the enemy. It’s like the Knicks versus the Bulls. That’s how I have to start. I can’t do a deal where I can’t see your point. If you’re not my client, I want you to lose, which is why Aaron Antis worked so hard for years to get me to coach him, because I was violently coaching his competition.
But people can write things online that are not true. So as an example, we have some people that have come to a conference and 725 of them are happy. But we had one guy who came to the conference who smelled a lot like a dead animal. He did the whole New York City cab driver thing.
And by the way, if you live in New York City, and you’re a cab driver, and you’re offended by that, come on.
Even if you smell good, you have to know your other cabby friends don’t smell good. This guy smelled like the interior of an armpit, okay? This guy is rough. And he smelled like onions and armpit combined, and he sat in the middle of the conference, and Devin, you know, there’s about 100 people there. And his phone, how incredibly distracting is it when someone’s phone goes off? Incredibly.
And so you hear this guy, and it’s like, you know, the phone’s ringing, and it’s going off like, do -do -do -do, do -do -do -do, and he picks it up, and he just starts talking full speed on a sales call like he’s just going for it and he’s not like stepping out or ducking out or he’s just like yeah how can I help you okay yeah well let me tell you and he’s like going for it let me tell you the difference between us and the other guys so in between everyone was distracted for the whole session So it’s probably the final five minutes of a session. So I broke early, and I said, guys, we’ll be back in 15 minutes. We’ll get restarted. Feel free to caffeinate. I’ll be back.
I do that a lot at the conferences if there’s somebody weird. And I try to do it in the first one or two sessions. I’m sure you saw me, Devin, do that this session a little bit. So then what I do is I go up to the guy and I said, hey, if you want to make calls in the conference room, you could do that. You could do it. It’d be OK.
And he says, well, no, I’d prefer just to be out here. That’s why I drove here. I paid to be here. You know, and I said, okay, but I just need you to kind of stay off that phone, you know, be off the phone because, and again, I’m hosting a conference here. And, uh, cause apparently my teammates had tried to interact with him and he just wasn’t having it. So next session he does it again.
This time it’s like, I don’t know what he’s doing. He’s dealing with a customer service issue or something, but it’s like very disruptive. So on the third session, I pulled him aside and I said, Hey, I think it’s best if I refund you double what you spent, you know, um, you bought a ticket for $250. Let me just give you $500 and you can head back. And he says, what, my money’s not good? You know, I said, well, even a thousand.
I just need you to go because it’s getting bad here. Well, he decides that he’s going to devote the rest of his life to writing bad things about me. And so now to this day, if you Google me, I mean, you go on to like page two or three, you’re going to find this guy who’s like, Clay Clark is a fraud. He scams people. Well, if it’s a fraud, it’s a pretty long fraud. I mean, I’ve been working pretty hard, you know, for me. I mean, I’ve been self -employed for 23 years.
I mean, this is a pretty long Ponzi scheme here. I mean, I’d have to pay a lot of people. I’d have to pay Shaw Homes, the largest home builder in Oklahoma. I’d have to pay somebody with a lot of reputation to, I guess, lie about the fact that they’ve doubled their company.
Or I’d have to pay Thomas with Full Package Media to make up his growth. I’d have to be doing a lot. And then I’d have to pay him to go ahead and buy the Tesla he has to scale his business. I mean, there’d be a lot of moving parts if I am in fact a scam. But people can say that. So video reviews are powerful because they’re a validator that you can’t fake.
Charles, talk to the listeners about the importance of getting video reviews. We found a lot of people when they go online and type in Google, like 90 % of consumers, they’ll go to the Google to look for a product or service. If they’re looking for haircuts, they’ll type in haircuts in the city and boom, your business comes in. Or for gyms, they’ll type in Jim’s Bartlesville or Jim’s Topeka, Jim’s Joplin, and I’ll pop up right in the top. And I have videos that are right up there at the top or right close to the top. People love to click on videos, and they can see that the videos are decent quality, but they’re authentic.
They’re not paid actors. These are real people caught in the gym talking about their experience, talking about the results, talking about what they like. And that type of stuff, I think, really, really shows to the consumer. And then then when they get done with that video, we have so many videos, we have hundreds and hundreds of videos that just keep populating next up next up. And they’re like, wow, that’s got to have some sort of truth. Even if there was five fake reviews, they can’t fake hundreds or 1000 reviews or video reviews.
And they can’t fake 1000s like used to say, you know, like, how could you fake thousands of positive reviews? So it’s just like a landslide of positivity that they can quickly see when 90 % of consumers go to Google, that you are a valid business, you’re carrying on good ethical work, consumers are majority best 99 .9 % of consumers are very happy with the product or service. And you’ve really helped us. You saw that we were already a good business and say, hey, I can really work with you. But you have to be ethical.
You have to truly care about your product or service, making sure that that person is wanting to give the best customer service, the best quality product at really competitive prices. point. When you’re already there as a business owner and you really care about people, Clay can do a great job. His team does a great job of growing you and scaling you, but you can’t be selling snake oil and fake stuff.
But he can really promote your product, get it out there, and you’ll even grow faster.
So it’s been a huge game changer for us. I have Devin on the show today.
One, because Devin is, he’s like Honest Abe almost, you know what I mean?
He just, he cannot tell a lie.
He’s a proud member of Ramah Church, right Devin?
Destiny Church.
Destiny Church, I’m sorry.
And you’ve been married for how long now? It’s 11 years now.
You live behind Ramah though.
Right next to it. But you go to Destiny Church.
I do.
Do you feel any cognitive dissonance there?
Do you feel like you should go to Ramah just because you are near? No. No, I appreciate their lights though.
They’re beautiful.
Real quick, that’s shady of you.
I’m just kidding.
So you can validate this and keep the camera on him, Kendall, because I’m going to ask the questions.
Look right into his beady eyes.
Look into his eyes.
We had a client back in the day for about 30 days who, remember how he pretended to be a doctor?
Oh, yes.
Do you remember this? Yes. And what kind of doctor did he pretend to be? We won’t mention his name or the city he’s in, but just so the listeners can have some context here. He was a testosterone doctor, HGH, all that kind of stuff. But he said he was a doctor.
Right.
Now here’s what’s crazy.
Kendall, I want to talk to the listeners here.
This is powerful.
He says he’s a doctor.
Now, usually when you talk to a doctor, they’re usually, I’ll just tell you the make and model of doctors, and this is not always true, but usually they’re not super athletic.
Usually the good Lord gives all of us different tools, and as a general rule, the guy with the hugely developed mind is usually not a decathlon guy.
Not always, but just the vast majority of the time. Usually you don’t see freak athletes who’ve spent a huge amount of their time into fitness also being great doctors or vice versa. usually. So it’s kind of a little bit of a warning.
Two, doctors tend to be very prompt in being on time, and homeboy was never on time.
Never.
At all. Three, people that are doctors typically don’t avoid telling you where they went to medical school. They wear it like a badge of honor. So I’m saying to myself, wait a minute, you know the guy from, what was it, CSI, where he’s like, you know, who’s the redhead guy from CSI where he’s always like, I know, and he always has an epiphany. You see what he does there? He always is like, well, it’s like, it’s Saturday.
Where was I on Saturday? He always has an epiphany. So I’m doing that in the meeting. I’m going, so you don’t want to tell me where you went to medical school. You are late. You’re really, really into fitness and sports.
You’re not a doctor. And I said that to him, and he goes, what, what? And I said, you’re not a doctor. You’re not a doctor. So I said, is that true? He goes, Hey, brother, we got to keep this between you and me, OK?
And I’m going, what? He goes, I’m a doctor to them. And I said, to who? He goes, to people who buy the stuff. And I said, well, I’ll tell you what, let me go check on something real fast. I’ll come right back.
So I go out and I do a backlink report. And I don’t know if I showed this to you guys, but all of his backlinks were from pornography websites. So he was running ads on pornography sites. That’s where he sold his stuff. And so I said, hey, I have a question for you, just so I can really help you. Or just tell me between you and me, you know, all the steroids you sell, I mean, are those like synthetic things made in China?
He goes. Oh, yeah It’s like 10 cents on the dollar now. You never know what’s in those things, but I mean, you know I mean, it’s been you know independently and I’m going so you and do you do a lot of overseas banking, you know, yes. Yeah So, and a true story, and Paul Hood can verify this. So Paul, he goes to, he says, Clay, do you recommend a good accountant? I said, absolutely.
And I’ll have him do a report of some things. I said, right now though, what you want to sell, and he wanted us to run ads on adult websites for him. I said, I don’t think we’re a good fit, you know? So I’m just going to refund you right now, I think. And then you can find someone who specializes in more digital online marketing, you know? And he goes, are you saying that I’m a scammer or something, or what’s your deal?
And I’m like, yeah. You know? Well, he goes and meets with Paul Hood and he’s asking Paul what the best way is to deal with the IRS when they’re coming after him for tax evasion over like a multiple year period of time. And Paul’s letting him know like, well, one, you got to quit doing that. Two, where’s the money? He says, well, it’s all in the Caymans and it’s all in Latvia and the Caymans.
And so Paul calls me and he’s like, we’ve got a bogey on our hands. Well, it turns out this guy comes in again for another meeting. He’s not scheduled now.
But he is pissed that I will not take his money.
And you saw this guy, Devin.
You saw the guy.
So now he’s saying, well, hey, here’s the deal.
Did you know on Fiverr you can just buy reviews? And I’m going, you can’t just buy reviews.
And anyway, he’s like, well, I don’t need you guys.
I’m just going to. His filter’s so messed up. It is. It is. And so anyway, long story short, I think I’m going to do a search real quick for something. Kendall, don’t look what I’m searching for, OK?
Amen.
Amen.
God is real. He is not in the top three on Google now. He’s not.
He’s not in the top three on Google right now.
But what’s crazy, Devin, is that we sat there with him in the first couple meetings, and we showed him the moves to do, and he implemented and got to the page one of Google. And I felt bad. Devin, right before a client usually cancels, what do they normally change? All of their passwords. Yes! And he changed all of his passwords so that I couldn’t take his site down or remove the search engine content.
caught on to him and it turns out Google is pretty smart. It’s just him. And now he’s not ranking anymore and he couldn’t get video reviews because nobody who’s honest would give him a review because he’s so shady. If he had any customers at all they wouldn’t leave. So a video review is powerful. V -I -S -M.
Get those video reviews. The second, images.
Images.
Let’s talk about images for a second. Images if you search for Joplin Jim’s or you search for Tulsa men’s haircuts. Let’s let’s search right now Let’s all do a search Devin pull it up here.
So the Charles can see we’ve achieved one goal today One of my clients in Canada today told me about this and I’m excited He said I had him Google search it Josh Spurl in Canada and he said it’s true Google search Bill Belichick fan because I said hey I’m showing right now when you search for Bill Belichick fan I am now the top in the world.
Is this true for you? And he says yes Because the Canadians’ Google search is a little bit different. Devin, there it is! I’m double verifying an incognito window. And when you search for Bill Belichick number one fan, look at my face coming up top in Google. Bill Belichick number one fan.
My face is all over the place. Oh, there it is! Yes, Billy B! Yes!
Billy B, you know I’ve been chasing you for seven years, Billy B. And I know you didn’t film the Bengals illegally.
No, you didn’t, Billy B.
my guy so here’s the deal is images it turns out Devin people look for images true you know what a lot of people search for when they search for me Devin I’ve been finding this out recently Clay Clark wife oh and do you know why that is you say but why do people look for the images of my wife what is that because like who’s got a They want to probably understand who she is. What kind of sick freak would marry a guy like me? That’s probably a bigger, darker issue. So, there’s an article, Devon, I want you to put a link to it. I want to show it to Charles and Amber so they can see this graph. This is so powerful, folks.
Powerful! It’s power! Today’s show is power. This is like the Death Star show. The article is called, How Google Retains More Than 90 % of Market Share.
how Google retains over 90 % of market share.
This article right here, this is powerful. You wanna show that it’s applicable? Uh -huh, this is it. Now we got this little graph here. Devin, would you call this a pie chart? Is that what you wanna call this?
Would you call this a pie chart? Yeah, it’s a pie chart. Okay, a pie chart. And it shows right now that 62 .6 % of all searches are done via Google without images, just Google itself. 22 .6 % of searches are Google images. So between the Google search and the images, homies, that’s 84%, 85 % of all searches are done between the images and the non -images.
Again, if you’re searching on Google right now, that’s 62 .6 % of people do that. But 22 .6 % of people click on the images button, then they search. Who knew that? I did. So YouTube, 4 .3 % of people use YouTube. and 1 .3 % of people now go to the maps and they just sort for the highest rated, which represents an aggregate total of 90 .8 % of all searches are done using a Google entity.
So let’s talk about this. Where there is no vism, your online visibility will perish. Images. You got to get images.
Now, Charles, getting images.
You’d be hard to take images of Koloff Fitness if your gym was nasty. You wouldn’t want to show it to people. So you could see why Google would rank you high. And let’s go back to the non -doctor. Oh, this guy. I asked him to get images.
And, Devin, did you ever see the images that he provided to me? I don’t believe so. They were definitely from, like, an iStock or from somebody else’s website. And they were dirty pictures. Like, they were dirty. It was like, Not like, it was like somewhere between adult content and like the swimsuit edition of like Sports Illustrated.
Somewhere in that line without complete nudity and that’s what he brought to me. And I’m like, are these your pictures?
He goes, oh no, I ganked them offline.
Ganked them.
Now Devin, let’s talk about how Google sees images. Google sees things as zeros and ones.
This is called binary code. People don’t know this, but the internet is built of binary code.
It’s zeros and ones. So, Devin, can Google tell if you copy an image?
It can.
How?
Each image has data called metadata that is embedded in the image that tells you all kinds of information.
It can even tell you what kind of camera the image was shot on.
And when it was shot on. When it was shot. True. And where. And where. It’s wild.
What’s what? It’s wild. It is wild.
And this is why
you got to be careful of when and where you take images because they know. So images. It would be hard to get images of things that were for optimization if you didn’t keep your gym clean. Charles, you’re not embarrassed to put your images up there. And you say, like, take them, have them people take real images in your club, real people taking real images, uploading them there. Yeah.
And so that’s what happens. And that’s why we rank high. And that’s why it works. V . I .
S .
M.
Vism.
Think about that for a second. Vism. V .
I . S . M. Vism. It’s so important that everybody gets this idea. Do you remember the song Saturday Night there, Devin?
Do you remember that song, Saturday Night? Maybe if I heard a bit of it. Really? Yeah. I think I would.
I’m usually good once I hear songs.
Okay, I’m going to cue it up here for you. I’m trying to trim this V -I -S -M into some kind of chant here for you, so let me cue it up here. Here we go. This is from the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer. Somehow we’ve got to trim this into some kind of chant because it’s got to be a V -I -S -M. That’s where your online success begins.
It’s got to get stuck in your head. And because of neural pathways, I’ve got to say this a lot, because somebody right now, you are at a truck stop. You’re pulling over right now. You’re going to McDonald’s.
You’re going somewhere.
And someone’s saying, sir, do you want fries with that?
And you just turned me down.
You turned it down. Or your wife or your husband doesn’t like business. And they’re like, could you turn it down? And you’re distracted. And distraction will keep you from taking the action that you need to take. Charles, what would happen if you didn’t have a website at all?
No website, you would have less of an online presence pretty dramatically. Would it be bad? Yeah, it would not be good. Devin, what’s it like to have a website that people can’t find? It’s like having a really nice billboard in the woods.
In the woods!
A billboard in the woods. I’m asking you, Mr. Listener, Mrs. Listener, is your company’s website a billboard in the woods? Is it a billboard in the woods? Think about that for a second. Yes, it is, because what happened is you built it yourself on Wix.
You built it yourself on the WordPress.
You’ve asked someone who knows you to build it because they’re family, and they’ve tried their best.
But where there is no vism, your online presence will perish. You need video reviews. Devin, when you get the video reviews, you gotta post those beasts on your Google Map and on YouTube. Why?
Because that’s just more places that Google can find your videos and people can find it.
People are gonna search your Google Map, look at your reviews, and then also be able to see those video reviews right there.
And then YouTube.
YouTube is one of the fastest growing search engines that is coming up. People don’t think of YouTube as a search engine necessarily. Oh, but it is, baby. Oh, it is. How much was it on that pie graph?
4 .3 % of all searches are done via YouTube.
By the way, did I tell you more than five times today about how good the Carl’s Jr.
Beyond Meat Burger was? I heard it at least twice.
Have you tried it yet? I have not tried it yet. I suck at marketing. I want to order some tomorrow for you guys. I think I’m going to do it. I think at the next conference, I want it on Saturday.
Get the Beyond Meat Burgers for everybody, as opposed to what we normally do.
OK. Have you been tempted at all to check this out? A little bit on the Whopper. I’ve seen more advertisement for that one. My wife is really into health, you know, and that’s awesome. I’m excited about that.
And she really likes the like the vegan stuff, you know.
And I just a lot of it tastes like wood, you know.
And like so I went in there with expecting nothing and it tasted as good as a burger or better. It was really good. Wow. Yeah. But I’m telling you this right now. How does this relate to Internet marketing?
The average person, when you heard that, you immediately thought, that’s gross, you’re wrong. That’s fine. And a lot of you are thinking right now, there’s no way that internet marketing can be this simple. Charles, somebody wants to make it more complicated. You know what I mean, though?
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
When you give people fitness tips, okay?
So let’s say you’re sitting down with somebody right now, and you’re giving them diet tips, and they’re sincere, okay?
And somehow they got the Charles Killaw special, something happened, I’m not sure, but somehow Amber says, Charles, you wanna train a one -on -one client?
Okay, fine, it’s 1 ,000 bucks a session.
So you don’t train people anymore as a personal trainer, but you talk to Amber, and Amber goes, OK, fine, three sessions a week, $1 ,000 per session.
And all the money goes to Amber and the Amber Foundation.
And it’d probably take $2 ,000 per session, but there’s got to be some number eventually where you’d think, fine, OK, you can take a client on.
But you sit down with them, and they’re sincere, and they say, Charles, tell me specifically the meal that I can eat.
I just need one meal. What is the one meal? that everyone could eat and just drop, on average, 10, 15 pounds at first 45 days. Just lean meat and vegetables.
and that’s it and water.
But they want to make it more complicated, do they not?
Yeah, if they just do that for 30 days, almost anybody will lose at least 15 to 20 pounds.
But don’t people want to make it more complicated?
Don’t I get a cheat day? Yeah, they want it, yes.
They want it to be more complicated, though.
They do. Why? They want to have it as complicated as possible. I’ve learned the best way that you can train a client is to make it very, very simple, and if they act confused, then you just have to kind of create their meals for the week, and it just falls in line with the simplicity of it. And it’s kind of like you with coaching, you give them simple principles, and then you just have to make it, if they are wanting it to be more complex, you have to like, here’s your actual action items, and this, this, this, this, this. And it’s basically your same vism to dominate Google.
Yeah, this is what’s interesting, is that our relationship, as you guys continue to scale, you’re opening up two more locations, I believe, this year.
Yes, sir.
And as you guys scale, our relationship will change, because it becomes, it’s always about how you get your team to execute it.
Yes.
And what I’ve found with bigger companies I’ve worked with, like Oxifresh, You’ve got 400 locations.
Matt Klein came and spoke at the conference. He’s great.
With 400 locations, the biggest issue is how do you convince 400 people to all do the right thing?
It’s more about that than coming up with a new strategy.
It’s more about how do you get people to do the strategy. And teaching a group of 400 people to do four things can be tough. And it’s challenging because on today’s show, we’re trying to teach a half million people to do four things. So I’m going to hammer this home, but VISM stands for Video Reviews images now images you got to name the images properly devin if i wanted to optimize right now for uh tucson men’s haircuts what should i name my images you should name your image tucson hyphen men’s hyphen haircuts and then whatever the image is about so if it’s somebody cutting their hair
then you would say, man cutting hair, or something about that. And then you’ve got to add the image attributes. Correct.
What is that?
Isn’t it like the meta description for images?
Um, you can add a meta description for the image.
The biggest part is the alt attribute once the image is embedded.
The alt attribute? Alt attribute.
Talk to me about that.
You just used the word alt. I think a lot of people are like, what are you talking about?
Are you talking about the old Sega Genesis game, Altered Beast?
The alt attribute is the text that will show up if the image cannot load. So if someone’s on a phone out in the woods and they have really slow internet connection, they’re trying to load your website, sometimes those bigger images will take a little bit longer to load. And so while that image is loading, instead of just having a big square there, by adding alt text, it then gives someone an idea of what that image is supposed to look like. And it also gives blind users the ability to see in their mind’s eye what something is.
Exactly.
Because it’s described to them.
True.
Let’s get back into this. V, Devin, what does V stand for? Video reviews. Come on now. Get those video reviews every day, Devin, every day. Every day.
So you got to get video reviews every day, homies.
Now, images.
Name the image properly. Do we got to get images every day, Devin, every day? Every day. Because Google wants consistency. That’s right. Consistency, because consistency is where the success be.
I’m telling you, think about this for a second. Inconsistent people, not cool, not successful, not trustworthy, not promotable, not the kind of businesses you want to do business with.
Inconsistent people.
And Google looks for the consistency of your business.
The heartbeat of your business is the consistency.
Charles, you guys smash it up there at Colaw Fitness.
Oh yeah. I would argue this because I’ve worked with so many fitness people before. and by the way, I work with some great fitness people now.
Brett Denton with Cavell Fit, awesome, awesome guy.
Clint Howard, awesome. Luke Owens, awesome.
You, awesome.
But man, I’ve worked with some fitness people that just can’t seem, it’s so ironic though, that they cannot handle the consistency of online marketing.
And these are the same people, and Devin, you’ve seen this, they can’t handle the consistency of actually showing up for their personal training sessions. I hear that’s important. Charles, what would happen if you, because you started your business back in the day by doing personal training. Yes. What would happen if you ghosted a client one time? Oh, quit, fire you, you’re done.
Well, if you worked with them for two years and you happened to miss, they’re like, what happened?
That’s so rare.
But yeah, you can’t miss clients.
Now, the next part of the vism, the VIS, V -I -S, search engine content.
You’ve got to create original search engine content.
And, Devin, if you’ll put point A and B under here, just so our listeners have it. Oh, yeah. You’ve got to create original, relevant HTML content. Original, relevant hypertext markup language content. The most words about the subject.
Thrive Nation, how many shows a week do we put out for 5 million mega points?
How many shows a week does John allow me to put out? Take a guess.
Take it. What do you think it is?
What’s that number?
What’s that?
Nine.
However, sometimes I do a show and I don’t feel like it.
I mean, I feel like helping you, the listener, but I don’t feel good.
You know why?
Well, as an example, we just had our Christmas party on top of the largest building or the tallest building in Oklahoma called the City Plex Tower there on on a Saturday night in a dark
were you there? I was there. I remember you there, being there. Did you have a good time? It was great. It was a lot of fun.
What was your highlight? For me, it’s always the Cupid Shovel or any dance that tells me what to do. So you like the ones that tell you what to do? Yeah, I’m too white. Well, DJ Aubrey was up there DJing, and he was having a good time. And I didn’t finish really wrapping up my night until about 2 a .
m. , which is usually one hour. That’s one hour before I normally wake up. So I was like saying to myself, self, you have committed to do an interview with Clint Howard the morning at six. You have committed to interview with another guy based in Atlanta, Atlanta. And I’m like, I got to.
So this is this is a little audio from the from the party. This is our. They’re all cheering for Aubrey. They’re just loving it. They’re having a great time. There’s a lot of, I mean, this is Z dancing versus Santa Claus, Justin Wren.
I mean, they’re having a, that’s Z challenging Justin Wren to a dance contest. This is our team dancing to the Hot Stepper. I mean, and you got 350 people going strong all night. That’s what we do. So I had to do a podcast the next morning and I didn’t feel like it, right?
So I went ahead and recorded it anyway, but this is the first 10 seconds of the show, so you can hear what it’s like when Joan Rivers hosts the show. Because I had, I had, I mean, I seriously, I had nothing left, man. I was, I was absolutely, this is me talking here. Let me see.
Cue it up.
Jason, it is the day after the Thrive Time Show conference. Oh yeah. I went to bed slightly before I woke up today. That’s right.
And we’re breaking down nine Napoleon Hill notable qualities.
If you’re kind of dragging today and you need to pick me up, this show is for you. to be the ultimate.
But you do it.
You do it because you say you’re going to do it. There is no try. Just do. No try. No, no, no. What does that mean?
Charles, what’s the difference? I mean, you’re kind of our broda.
What does it mean to do versus try?
And I want to get your wife’s take on this because there’s a big difference between doing and trying.
Well, doing it is just basically separating your emotions and taking action.
Your emotions at certain points will take you hostage and derail you from what you really want to do if you just take action over emotion.
That’s kind of my take.
Well, I want to mic up your wife here real quick.
We might want to definitely lower the mic for her a little bit here.
But you guys just went on a cruise as a couple.
And I don’t know if you’re weird like me, Amber, where you struggle with vacations.
But I think you’re normal.
I think you like to travel.
on cruises.
Yes.
Was it tough to want to come back?
It was.
What did you like most about the cruise?
No work.
No work? Yeah. It was great.
The view of the ocean?
Yeah.
It’s pretty.
Did you have any highlights? Our highlight was not working. What islands did you enjoy the most or sites did you enjoy most? We stopped at three different countries and… Where’d you go? We went to Roatan, Honduras.
Okay, cool. And Belize and Cozumel. So which one of those was your favorite?
We’ve been to all of them before.
I would say Roatan is probably my favorite, but this time we stayed on the boat.
We just saw him from the boat, which is great. Really?
You stayed on the boat?
We didn’t even get off the boat.
We did get off the boat in Cozumel, and we had to find a little accoutrement for Clay.
Thank you so much for doing that. Encourage our listeners out there. It’s a nice elephant, by the way. Kendall, you can see it on the shelf over there. It’s right there. It’s the small elephant, the neat elephant.
written there right there next to my Bernie Sanders toilet paper. Which by the way, that Bernie Sanders toilet paper is very effective. It’s unbelievable. They have some marketing ideas in Mexico.
They do. They definitely, what did one guy say to us? He said, yeah, come on in here, give me a chance to rip you off. Really? Oh, there’s an option. Wow, wow.
So let’s talk, encourage the listeners out there, both the men and women listening to the show, who just You know, because you guys, you and your husband, I mean, he used to train clients at your house, $115 ,000 house in Bartlesville. You have, you know, I think his first client was like five in the morning or four in the morning, and you’re training people till 10 o ‘clock at night. You’re cutting hair, and some people just don’t want to go through, they’re having a hard time going through that tough part. They want the success now. They want the cruise now. Encourage somebody out there who’s having a hard time delaying that gratification.
When you always talk about the cognitive dissonance, and I love this saying where, I think Billy Allsbrook says, it’s when you turn your should into a must. And I think it’s the should in your brain that’s the cognitive dissonance, that you’re not doing the must. So when there’s something that you should be doing, and everybody has a list of things they should do, whether it’s exercise or you should, Take care of your kids or you should be the family or you should go to work or you should you should be on time or they have all these sheds and I think they don’t turn them into the must in their life and so I think just being super consistent at just the self. Like self -discipline, just learning how to be diligent in just even small things kind of rolls over into bigger success in your life, into other areas. I think what you said is 100 % right.
And I know the listeners don’t all have the time today.
read the book called The Power of Habit. It’s called The Power of Habit. And I think that there’s a few quotes in that book that all the listeners should know. It’s a great book called The Power of Habit. The author’s name is Charles Duhigg. He says, change might not be fast, and it isn’t always easy, but with time and effort, almost any habit can be reshaped.
Change might not be fast, it isn’t always easy, but with time and effort, almost any change can be reshaped. Almost any habit, he says, almost any habit can be reshaped. Now, he says the golden rule of habit, you can’t exchange a bad habit, he says you can’t extinguish a bad habit, you can only change it, you can’t extinguish it. Like you have to replace it with something else. So rather than, you’ve got to replace it, you’ve got to insert something into your routine. And a lot of people are people of habit.
So let me give an example of me. I don’t do downtime.
So I could do good things with my downtime or bad things. Either way, I cannot relax. I hate it. So it’s like God made me this way. I don’t know what it is.
But like, I, whenever I watch, we don’t have to eat.
We don’t have to eat with Matt Klein and Michael Levine and great people, Aaron Antus, Steve Currington, we’re out there for dinner. And the entire time, I’m thinking, when is this gonna be over? That’s what I did. I actually went up to the bar. I went up to the bar and got myself a drink, as opposed to waiting for the waiter, because I don’t like waiters, because I have to wait, which is what I don’t do in life. They’re called a waiter.
That’s what they do. They help you get your food. I’d rather just make my own or something. I don’t know. So again, it’s not a great character attribute. It’s one that is.
It is a thing. So I have to fill my schedule up with an insane amount of stuff. So what I did is I woke up on Sunday at 5 a . m. after going to bed at 2 a . m.
I wake up, did the show. As soon as I finished, the show, I edited the show, exported the show. As soon as I As soon as I did that, I wake my kids up, and we went and finished buying Vanessa Christmas gifts. And we went to Carl’s Jr. to sample the Beyond Meat burger. And then after that, I returned a DJ system for Aubrey.
Before the rest of the world had woken up, by the way. The mall opens up at 9, so does Guitar Center. I love that. So I’m the first person there. There’s no traffic. So I’m already done with a lot of my list.
Then my wife had a blowout in her car. So I went and got her a different car, changed out the car. You know, you got to get one vehicle from A to B. My mom helped me do it. And I got all that done before like 11 o ‘clock. Now, most people are still just getting going on a Sunday. And then I listen to T .
D. Jakes and I take copious notes and I listen to a Pastor Chad Everett sermon, took copious notes. Now it’s like noon.
Then I help my son organize every single power cord that he has.
You know where you organize them all so they’re hung up nicely and that kind of thing. And then after that, I watch the Patriots game and I take notes while I watch the game. And then after I did that, I get ready for whatever the next thing is.
But I have zero downtime.
I cannot do it.
So I have, what he’s talking about is you might have a habit of being you know, whatever your thing is, you got to replace it with something else. But if I were to replace my need to get things done with a destructive habit, that would be the same thing. Like if I were to do drugs, I would do more drugs than anyone, because I’m like a very OCD, obsessive compulsive do do do kind of guy. So again, be very important today, understand this, we’ve got to replace some habit in our business with the ISM. You’ve got some habit in your business right now. I don’t know what it is, but everybody meets every morning in your office and maybe they have coffee and they talk for 20 minutes before they do anything.
Maybe we replace that habit with, let’s take 20 minutes and let’s call people and get a review every morning.
Maybe that’s our new ritual, but we’ve got to find a way to do it. Devin, why do you think some clients just can’t seem to figure this out until I nudge on them? yell at them, encourage them, tase them. I even now wager, last week I won $80. $80.
I bet people cash, 20 bucks, that they would not get a Google review every day.
And I lost last week one time, but I won four times.
For a total of $80, I won. I almost got my wife’s Christmas gifts this year by wagering my clients.
I’m serious.
I got about $300 of wagers in the past three or four weeks by wagering my clients. And it’s funny, when I wager, some people, that’s the only thing that gets them going is that $20. Some people, they want to prove me wrong.
Can you talk about that?
Why do you think some people don’t get reviews, even though it benefits their company? Why would they not do it unless they’re betting me $20?
It forces them to change something in what their normal routine is and get out of their comfort zone a lot of times. Our final VISMM is more Google Reviews. Amber, why can’t we ever stop getting Google Reviews? Because again, at Colaw Fitness, You guys have, I mean, I don’t want to exaggerate at all. I’m just saying, if you type in Joplin Gyms right now, you have 3 ,717 reviews. The closest competitor has 246.
Clearly, you’re doing well. Check out Topeka.
Topeka, okay.
Why can’t you stop? Like, why can’t you, Amber, stop getting reviews? For the same reason, if you’re running a race, you’re not going to stop.
You’re just going to keep going.
The competition’s always on your heels. Why can’t you stop brushing your teeth?
Why can’t you I want I want to keep my tea why can’t you stop being a good wife Because I have a really awesome husband and I gotta try and keep up with him.
I had to keep him happy.
I feel like
a lot of us out there, though, it seems like a stupid question.
It’s a stupid question from a stupid host.
Why can’t we stop brushing our teeth?
But I think a lot of people feel like they want to get to the end of it.
So I want to introduce the listeners to a new word.
Devin, it’s the word of the day.
You excited about the word of the day?
Oh, you know I am.
Okay, the word of the day is this. It’s commencement. Now, commencement, people think a lot of times… They think about commencement, or they think about going to a big arena and watching a bunch of high school kids have their names read in alphabetical order while being handed a sheet of paper.
But is that…
Devin, have you been to a graduation recently?
Mine took forever.
Where’d you graduate from?
Broken Arrow.
Oh, goodness. How many kids graduated?
In my class there were just under 1 ,100.
Who gave your commencement address? I don’t even remember.
It was that good, huh?
Yeah, it was so good. Anyway, so these commencement addresses, and then we go, we’re done! We did it! We did it! And people start to think that way, like, we did it. Don’t they think that, Devin?
We did it?
True.
Why? Because they believe that that is the end. They finished something. We did it! But they didn’t do it yet. They didn’t do it.
What did they not do? When you have your commencement address, what did you not do?
I probably took a nap. I really, really do believe, though, people think they did it. We’re topping Google.
We did it!
I’m topping Google. Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
No.
Now you’re not topping Google because you stopped the vism. The vism! Devin, somebody out there is fighting back right now. about the VISM. They want there to be a more deep, more complex way to dominate the Google search results. Well, it is true that you definitely have to have your website be canonically compliant to start and mobile compliant, but you can’t stop.
Why can’t you stop, Devin? Why can’t you stop? It’s going back to that whole concept of consistency and understanding that your business has a digital heartbeat. It has an online heartbeat. And once you stop putting those reviews and video content, those images up, then Google, after seeing it consistently, just drop off.
They wonder if maybe your business had a heart attack or something.
Do you know what the word, and Devin, I’m not trying to paint you into a corner, I’m just asking the listeners here.
Do you, Mr. Listener, Mrs. Listener, do you know what the word prism means?
Prism.
Prism.
Prism. Prism. Prism. Geometric shapes, maybe. Let’s go, there’s two definitions, okay?
One is referring to geometric shapes, we can talk about that.
The other one means it’s used figuratively with reference to the clarification or distortion afforded by a particular viewpoint.
Everybody there today needs a clarification of the visum prism.
You’ve got to understand this, that in order for you to go to the next level, you’ve got to master this skill.
This is similar to, Amber, do you remember when we used to have to mail letters?
Now, I know you just turned 23, and that is an exciting thing for our listeners out there.
We’re very excited about your 23rd birthday.
But do you remember when we mailed letters?
Oh, yes.
And remember when you used to have to write words on paper?
Oh, yes. I should say no if I’m 23.
I should say no.
But I mean this is like the new normal.
Everybody out there has to know what the visit is.
is. You have to know. And ignorance is not an excuse. Amber, if you ran Colaw Fitness and you were not aware of the various laws related to the business, such as, you know, you provide workman’s comp for your people, or the hours people can work, or whatever, if you weren’t aware of the laws, would the government give you a hall pass if you guys didn’t observe the laws?
Oh, no.
No, no, no.
No?
They’d give us probably a nice letter first.
Right. Right, so I mean, not knowing. And then a nice sign after. Ignorance is not an excuse for this. No. And now that you know, you still gotta do it.
That happens to me all the time, though, when I get pulled over.
Like, I just didn’t know what the speed limit was.
I did not.
I was not aware.
It doesn’t work.
You mean in this school zone, you can’t drive a hundred in this particular school zone?
Oh, my gosh.
I want the listeners to think about this, though, for a second, because if you didn’t know what I’m telling you now, you do know.
Right if you don’t know now, you now you do know and I have a little notorious big sound clip ready for you guys And here we go. Thank you. Thank you notorious big and if you don’t know now, you know No, so if you don’t know now, you know But you do know and again again if you if you don’t know and if you don’t know now, you know I think a lot of people say I don’t know you do know So now, Devin, we’ve got some activators we need to take here. Activators. Activators. Hopefully we’re good motivators.
Now we have some activators. I’m going to give the listeners one action step to take. Let’s all go to thebestseobook . com. Devin, did you code this page? I cleaned it up a bit.
just kind of made it run a little bit more efficiently. Do you remember in the meeting today how many people have reached out for one -on -one coaching in the last week? It was a lot. Do you remember the number roughly? 224, I want to say. Right.
It’s a lot. Only problem is we only take on 160 clients. So that’s a reality thing, OK? We only take on 160 clients. And so I’m trying to provide stuff for you if we’re not available. I’d encourage you to see if we’re available.
We can schedule a 13 -point assessment.
Right now, I’m booked out for two weeks.
because we say, for every 20 people that reach out for one -on -one coaching, I think Julia will book, you know, usually one, maybe, and then I’ll talk to them. And it’s because I don’t want to work with people that don’t get entrepreneurship on a fundamental level. That’s more of like, I would say, come to the workshop or listen to the show, but people that are kind of socialistic in nature that want to argue with me. And again, in America, we have 327 million people, only 16 million of which are actively self -employed. And out of that 16 million, only 4 % of them don’t fail according to Inc Magazine.
So it’s a 0 .00193 % chance that you will be successful as an entrepreneur by default.
So I want to give you free stuff here. And so the free stuff is if you go to Thrivetimeshow . com forward slash the best seo uh the best seo book free or we said i guess that the best would be uh devin what’s the domain the best seo let’s do that one that’s more direct the best seo book . com the best seo book . com you can download the boom book for free Why? Because I believe in the golden rule.
So many of you have downloaded it for free, and then you buy it. There are thousands of you buying it right now. Let’s go to Amazon real quick and see how highly we rank right now in the book category for the section of search engine optimization. I’m going to Amazon. I’m searching in the book section for the search engine optimization, and I see that we are currently number three. We’re number three right now.
Oh yeah. Oh man, we’re not number two though, and we’re not number one. So I would encourage you, Mr. Listener, Mrs. Listener, download the book for free. Get that thing. Read that thing. If you like that thing, buy that thing.
Why? Because I want to buy my wife various things that she needs, like kale. And kale’s expensive. But get the book, check it out. And Devin, you made another cool page last week. Thrivetimeshow .
com forward slash free resources. Oh yeah, that thing’s hot. Thrivetimeshow . com forward slash free dash resources. This is kind of our no -brainer for you. You can download all the books that I’ve written.
The e -book version of them, absolutely for free. Right now, all of them for free. The e -book version for free. And this just in Thrive Nation, we also have all of the infographics I’ve made. Those are all free for you. There’s infographics about lead management.
managing humans. These are the posters you can print in your office now. You can print the posters. Logo Creation 101. Why Google Loves WordPress. Time Management 101.
The Importance of Calling Your Leads 101. Nomenclature 101. These are great posters you can put in your office for free. You owe me nothing. You can get that. And then I have two more books coming out here in the next 30 days.
We’ve got If the Walls Could Talk, a book that distills all the notable quotables on the walls and what they mean and the origin of them. And we also have Trade Ups. a book that started as a conversation with Miss E. Fott, who attended our Christmas party. Did you guys know, did I tell you, Charles, that she attended the Christmas party? That was the craziest thing ever. I’ll pull it up here so you guys can see it.
Pull it up so they can see it.
If you Google search Clay Clark Twitter, you can see it.
This is a true story.
At our Christmas party, we had one of the world’s top MMA fighters, we had the world’s top literary agent, and the world’s top PR consultant all in the same room talking to each other.
it was like
what in the world is going on? I think the post says, um, 2019 Christmas party from Clay to Z with the world’s number one wife, Vanessa, and the world’s number one literary agent.
And, uh, do you remember that, Devin, as he came up there and he said, I have a, I have a gift for you.
I have a present. And I’m going, no, cause I’m thinking this is going to be like a gag gift. And he’s like, we have E Fought is with us. And I’m like, How many people do you know named Efaut? And I pull it up and there is the literary agent for Elon Musk’s books, The Subtle Art of…
I mean, this is pretty cool stuff.
And then we took a group photo with the whole team. I mean, it was an awesome party, awesome event, awesome stuff. And so the book that I started working on with her is called Trade -Ups, which is about the trade -offs you have to make to upgrade your lifestyle. And it’s very specific. And she gave me the idea for that book, and I’m working on that right now. All that’s available for free to download.
It’s a no -brainer. Charles, even if we’re topping Google, what would happen to Koloff Fitness if you did not offer your clients a no -brainer? Well, if we didn’t have a no -brainer, then it would be a brainer, and it would be difficult to make the decision, which would probably have a lot less sales.
You would have a lot less sales.
Does it cheapen your brand to have a great offer at kolofffitness .
com?
No, it doesn’t actually. We’ve been pushing a lot of these different incentives that you’ve been showing us the last three years and it’s definitely captured a lot more sales. Kendall, let’s see if we can do this. Let’s see if you can film the TV while you also are on the mic. Let’s see if we can do that. I bet you can.
I bet you can.
See, it’s Kendall’s doing a video in the show here and Kendall’s a young whippersnapper.
He’s pretty flexible.
Kendall, you brought your wife to the Christmas party, man. Did she have a good time? Yes, she did. So talk to me about it. Did you enjoy the conference or what kind of things did you learn at the conference?
So there’s a bunch of stuff at the conference.
I learned that it’s very hard to pull focus whenever Michael Levine is walking about two feet in front of you. But no, tons of stuff, like I now actually have a full set list I have now at my desk at home of all the action items I need to do to get my personal media business to the next level. I’ve now been looking up how to get a WordPress and get that hosted by GoDaddy . com. So I’ve got a whole list of action items now that I’m trying to take. I think that somebody out there, Charles, is overcomplicating this right now.
Just like people overcomplicate fitness.
And I’m not asking you to attack our listeners, but I’d like for you to pretend for a second. that you knew, and by the way, you do, but let’s pretend that you knew that the listeners were just four daily activities away from making millions of dollars.
They’re just four, they have a good product and a great service, great service, great product, and they’re just hidden.
There is no vision because they don’t know the vism.
They’re not doing the vism. They’re hidden.
What encouragement would you have for the listeners out there who are going, yeah, but I don’t have time to do it.
What encouragement would you have for them?
Well, these action items that you’ve given them, they can, of course, pull up all those resources to look at it. The show notes will actually give you better step -by -step methods to following that. You can reach out to Clay and his team for business coaching. But those four, you will literally give us like three to four action items every week, and you just literally knock out just three to four little things every week. Every week. And the next thing you know you look back 24 months later and you’re up two fold in gross sales.
Yeah.
Your margins are better. Yeah. You have better no brainers.
Your presence is just dominating on every social media site. Everything’s pulling into better leads.
You’ve got better systems.
So yeah. Why do you why do you think that we don’t take on more than 160 clients.
Because you personally trained people.
What happens once you start to have, because it’s a typical client you would train, I think you would do what, three sessions a week or five a week?
Yeah, about three, generally. Three sessions a week. So with your schedule, you were working at probably 80 hours a week at the time. Oh, yeah. So you could probably only work with maybe 20 clients personally at that time, maybe 25. Was there a certain number you had a certain max?
Well, there’s a certain point where you feel like you’re not giving really your qualities declining a little bit just trying to run through numbers. And my key is to never, you know, you kind of want to know where the decline number is so you never go there. Absolutely. I think for you and me, We thrive on excellence and trying to really work with good people that are implementers, really people who want to follow the diet and the workout, people who really want to follow action items. You like to see success, you like to see your customers get results, you want to see your business code, businesses really thrive and grow. And so you can really kind of be selective, like you are now, like you have 200 and some that want in, you already have a pretty full.
This week. Yeah, so you’re a very full load. So you can be very selective. And yeah, that’s the big thing is, What was the exact question again? I wanted to ask your opinion as to why, because what you and I do is very similar.
You as a personal trainer is very similar to being a business coach, very similar.
Coaches. And again, somebody out there saying, well, why don’t you take on more clients? What starts to happen when you have, like at your gyms now, you don’t know the average member, but they don’t expect to know you. No.
But what happens if you have a coaching program where people expect for, it gets weird. Yeah. You know, I felt bad because we’ve got a conference named Wesley, who’s attended, I think this is his third conference. and he walked up to me, he didn’t have his name tag on yet, and I knew it was like a wah sound, so I’m like, there’s not a whole lot of, but I kinda was like, so initially I was like, Willie, and there’s a lot more Wesleys than Willies, but I’m like, and he’s like, Wes, and I’m like, and I hate when it gets so big you don’t know everybody. And so if you’re out there today, we have so many free resources there to help you. And we also have an online school.
You go to thrive timeshow .
com. You click on business coaching.
It’s 19 bucks a month.
You get access to thousands of videos.
And I would just say this to the listeners.
I’ve got one more little thing I want to give to you here.
If you are online today and you’re going, man, I’d like to know more about this Ifat Reese Jindal. Her company is called foundrymedia . com.
And there you can see all the books that she’s written and all the books that her firm has represented.
And then if you type in, if you do a search right now, you’d have to do a search for top literary agent shares her story on YouTube. You can see my interview with EFOT, you can hear it on YouTube, or you just type in EFOT Thrive Time Show, you can hear my 47 minute long interview with the world’s top literary agent. But Thrive Nation, if you’re out there today, don’t just be a hearer, be a doer. Don’t just be an intender, be a contender. Z, we’ve been teaching people about search engine optimization while you’ve been leading a, were you leading a board meeting or was it a conference call or what exactly were you doing? Yeah, you know what happened was, communication’s the key.
When someone says two o ‘clock and you commit to it, and they mean Pacific Standard Time, you know, sometimes when you’ve got friends around the world and they want to do something at a certain time, you go, yeah, I can do it at that time.
And then you find out that really, for your time, it means four o ‘clock. It causes some conflicts. Well as we are wrapping up today’s show we’ve been talking to we’ve been teaching the listeners about where there is no where there is no vism The people perish. Your online presence perishes when you don’t have video reviews, optimized images, when you don’t have search engine content being added every day, and you don’t have more reviews being added all the time. Z, I mean, preach the goodness. For somebody out there who’s going, I know that this is what works.
I know the Colas just shared with me the story. I know that Devin has shared the story. But Z, for somebody out there who says, yeah, but I just don’t know, will it work? Back in the day, The advice that I would have given you 25 years ago was to start your business with an A. And you know why? I mean, you would have been A -best fitness.
Right.
You would have been A -best plumbing.
All -star DJs.
Triple A electricians.
I once started a fictitious company called Always and Forever Wedding DJ Service.
and why because back in the day it was the move yeah because the move was the yellow pages and they listed it alphabetically and so people would start to call the first one on the list just like they do now on the Google now right you know the top one gets the majority of calls and number two gets the next majority number three there are not many people going down to page seven to find what they’re looking for so that was the advice back then and it worked and that’s why now you can tell the businesses that started a long time ago from their name just telling you right and then the other move was you had a bigger picture or or you put you know pictures of your staff in there and then you’d sometimes add people right but hey what are you doing right so hon let me show this to you real quick look at this real quick oh you got you got one of your old ads well come gather real quick i want to show this to you this is let’s do a search real quick here for um joplin gyms i’m just going to show you so you can see this this glory um now we have let’s look at the the first search result is cola then the second is Planet, the third is 24, and then, look at them, they’re now video, video, I was explaining this to Bo, your son, the other day, and he was like, wow.
Oh yeah, it’s sexy, it’s sexy. And then, see, look at this, we’re scrolling down, then they’re here again, they’re here again, look at that, there they are again, and then they’re there again.
And then they’re here again.
Oh, they’re here again.
Facebook.
They’re here.
All the images.
They’re here.
Z, Z, somebody out there is fighting back about that.
And it just doesn’t happen.
It just doesn’t happen.
You’ve got to do it. And if you don’t want to do it, hire someone to do it for you. But, you know, you really need to oversee it and really be dictatorship about it and make sure that it’s getting done. You know, 3000 plus almost almost 4000 reviews. That just doesn’t happen because you say in an office meeting once a month. OK, everybody, remember, we’re, you know, get a review.
Get a review because it’s important, you know, I mean now I’ll see you next month and I’ll tell you the same thing But you know go get them coke go get them guys. Come on pump some iron. Let’s go get them now Billy, have you been tanning enough? You might need to tan a little bit more. Okay, let’s go. Come on Everybody wants to rule the world.
Everybody does. Everybody should go check this song out right now on Spotify. And the moves have changed, and you know what?
You’ve got to change with the times, Clay.
Everybody out there, I want you to go to Spotify right now and queue up Tears for Fears. Everyone wants to rule the world. Everybody does. Everyone needs to stream that beast. Listen to it.
Stream it.
Come on now.
Because everybody wants to rule the world. Why not?
They do.
Somebody has to.
But then people don’t want to do the action steps needed to rule the world. You know what?
Some people do.
They just don’t know them, Clay.
Sometimes we don’t know what we don’t know.
And that’s what this show is about. We’re saying, hey, listen, here’s the steps.
Here’s what you do today.
You know, and we make fun about what we did in the past. You know, you make fun about, you know, being the full page ad, the yellow page. You make fun about doing the moves, you know. The moves. The moves. But now today, these are the moves.
And they’re very movable. You can do them. You can do this. It’s within your capability. Trust me. And if you don’t know how to do it, just check in with us.
We’ll kind of walk you through it. It’s what we did. We just go to our in -person workshops. We’ve got our online school. 19 bucks a month, baby.
I mean, nothing. Z, check this out. If you don’t know, now you know. We’ve been talking about this for an hour. If you don’t know, now you know. The Notorious B .
I . G. couldn’t be here because he is dead. And if you don’t know, now you know. That’s a lame excuse. But I have two tips out there.
One, avoid gang violence. At all costs.
If you think about joining a gang, don’t do that. Don’t do that.
And then the second is get the vism aligned today.
Get the video reviews.
Come on now. Get those image reviews. Come on. Get those optimized images. Add that search engine content and get More reviews. Internet marketing is a process, not an event.
My name is Clay Clark.
That’s Dr. Zellner. That’s Charles and Amber Colaw.
That’s Devin.
And that’s Kendall, who actually, for a minute, he filmed today while being a guest on the show.
That’s incredible. That’s multitasking at its best. It’s a beautiful thing. You know what? This world is a beautiful place. Just grab it.
Have some fun. And for those of you out there who want to start a business, you’ve got a business, we want to help you. We want to mentor you.
We want to give you all this.
Email us. Call us. Send us a pigeon. However you want to communicate. We’re ready. Do we have a pigeon?
Your chicken loft can double as a pigeon loft, right?
for humming pigeons to come in and bring us messages? I don’t know about the technology exactly, but I believe that if you think it’s possible… It’s a good technology. It works.
You’re kind of like an animal whisperer.
You can do whatever you want.
You do have horses though.
Oh, yeah, do you have a kind of emotional connection? Express I could send the pony Express with your people want to learn more about your ranch How can they learn more about this rockin Z ranch? Okay calm if they want you just for fun I think you’ve got like a drone thing of it. That’s really cool. Yeah I put some cool pictures up from the party. Did you see him yet?
No, where would I find them? Look at right there go to Twitter You do type in Twitter.
Type in Twitter.
Clay Clark and see this picture.
This this picture here. OK, this picture here is our relationship. Look at this picture. This picture. This is this is our relationship. This is what our relationship is.
You look a little confused. I do. And then look at this. Everyone’s having a good time. And then we got a picture of, let’s get it here. We got Ifat there having a good time.
That picture there, that says the bromance that we have from Clay to Z. It’s it’s really incredible and the whole I love the group shot.
I mean how many employees did we have there like 300?
Yeah, it was a great great team photo. I mean great hundred people.
I got a lot of great team photos Unfortunately, I think that we may that may be our last time to be there.
We may have outgrown that space a great space We’ve done it before there but as it is I mean when you when you outgrow something when things change you what you adapt and you find a new place right you build a new building or you build a new building by the way Can we talk about that yet?
Yeah, let’s talk about it, yeah.
So how did the soil report come back? It’s good. What’s the word on the street? Let me show you where we’re going to build. Let me show it to you right now.
I’ll pull it up on the screen. And then, Devin, can you pull it up for the co -laws so they can see, too?
If you do a search for Thrive Time Show and Jinx, I’m pulling up on the map here.
And then, Z, we’re going to pull it up on the map.
But you want to look at the Google Earth image.
And so here we go.
This is our office now.
Here we are.
And we’re just going to go four miles west on 91st.
And we’re going four miles west on 91st.
There we are.
And so all this land has been purchased, basically.
And this right here, this right here is a green belt.
So no one can ever build there.
It’s a reservoir.
So it’s always gonna be green. And we got, we’re gonna build the house right here at the high point of a 600 foot hill, overlooking everything. And then the building is gonna go right here. and be hidden behind this whole thing. So that is the process, my friend. those of you that have been out to our conference, which is in a really really cool sexy space right now Yeah, we are going to redo that.
Yep on this new property.
It’s going to be called Camp Clark and Chicken Palace is the property. Chicken Emporium, maybe.
Chicken Emporium. Palace?
I like Palace.
Palace is a fitting word, by the way.
It’s a beautiful thing. It shows our love for the chickens.
Not a lot of people, when their chicken gets injured, not a lot of people will go ahead and pay to have the chicken stitched or returned to health, but we do.
Well, I think it’s important to note that your chickens are free -range. In fact, we’ve had Tom, your turkey, visit us here in the recording studios on multiple occasions. That’s free -range. Oh, yes.
Oh, and hey, did we have a guy, did Devin, the guy that just left us a review on Google, did he even attend our workshop?
I don’t think he did. I don’t know. I think he did.
Well, did we get a bad review or something?
Oh, yeah, but he didn’t even attend. Well, does that mean he can’t send a review? He can. That’s what we’re saying, though. The trolls are controlling the internet. There it is.
There it is. I don’t know who this guy is.
There he is. He didn’t even attend, but that’s OK.
That’s the reality of any time you pull up your Google Map. That’s the reality. That’s the world we live in, folks. No matter what job you do, you’re going to get some bad reviews. Could it steal my joy? It could if I dwelled on it.
But don’t dwell on it. Negative dwelling. Let’s end the show with a boom now. Here we go with a positive boom. There you go. All right.
Ready. I’m ready. Three, two, one. My honor, my honor to be on your show and thank you for all you do, I hear. The ripple effects from you are good ripple effects. You know what I mean?
People rave about what they learned from you. So congratulations.
Sean, guess what’s happening?
April 9th and 10th, 2026. Uh, we are probably going to have an amazing business conference here at Tulsa, Russell.
Yes.
We’re joined by Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow is going to be joining us right here at the Thrive Time Show World Headquarters, June 5th and 6th. He’s a very successful football player, obviously a Heisman award winner, most recently also a very successful entrepreneur. Now, when you work with real clients, Sean, real clients you really work with to help them grow their companies, do you ever hear a business owner tell you that they didn’t have time to get something done? Every day.
How often is not having enough time a problem for business owners? All the time. It’s almost like maybe 90 % of the issues as people are trying to grow their company. Well, Tim Tebow is going to come join us here at the in -person Thrive Time Show 2 -Day Interactive Business Workshop. And he’s going to teach us. time management and his approach to personal self -discipline and getting things done.
Also at the workshop, I’ll put up on the website so people can see it here. Also at the two -day interactive workshop, Sean, we are going to be teaching accounting, systems creation, marketing, human resources, how to hire, inspire, train and retain great people, accounting, social media advertising, search engine optimization. Sean, what’s the area where most clients ask you for help the most? Is it generating creating leads, is it hiring people? What’s the biggest issue that most business owners have by default before they come to one of our workshops? Well, I think it’s management because time is the most valuable resource for these business owners and being able to manage their time is the first thing.
Once they get that under control, then generally the numbers You know, being able to track their business and be able to make the best decisions based on numbers rather than emotions is a big area. And we teach all of this stuff at the business conference, particularly you, Clay. You love to hammer on time management. It’s my favorite part of the conference. Now, I’m going to pull this up real quick here, because we’re going to go through it. If you’re not excited, I want to get you excited about what we’re going to cover at the workshop here, OK?
OK. All right. The two -day interactive workshop. This is my 20th year hosting workshops. So I’m telling you folks, we’re in rare form here. uh so one is the the idea of establishing your revenue goals i think most entrepreneurs
know their revenue goals. Would you agree, or am I off my rocker? No, that’s totally a very important point we do with every one of our new clients that come on board, is we have to establish the revenue goals. And generally speaking, we have a vague idea, but not an exact idea that can be engineered down into the daily goals for sales. And so that’s a really big one. What kind of sales do you have to do to even break even?
Third is how many hours per week do you want to work? What is your ideal schedule as an entrepreneur? Box number four, how do you stand out in the clutter of commerce? What makes your company unique from all the different businesses? In a world of brown cows, herds of brown cows, proverbial brown cows, the analogy of brown cows, how can you be the purple cow that stands out? How can you be the squeaky wheel that gets the oil?
Box number five, branding. How do you improve the perception that people have of you, your business, your brand. Box number six. Marketing, your three -legged marketing stool. What is a turnkey way for you and your company to generate leads so you can succeed? Because if you don’t have any leads, your business will bleed.
If you can’t sell, your business will go to hell. You’ve got to generate leads. Sean, how often do business owners by default tell you they have a hard time generating leads? It’s almost all of the time. It’s really a huge struggle.
And many times, they may be creating leads, but just through word of mouth. So they get to a point where we’ve implemented systems, and then they need to create more. leads, but they’ve never had to do it. So there’s a lot of different scenarios where business owners are like, how do you create leads? Something we hammer on at the conference a lot.
Box number seven. Box number seven, create a sales conversion system. Again, box number seven, create a sales conversion system. Sales scripts, recorded calls, one sheets, pre -written emails, lead trackers, all of the sales tools, the sales print pieces, the one sheets, the big screens, that you see inside the business, whether you’re a doctor, you’re a dentist, you’re a lawyer, you got to have sales systems in place. We help you with that.
Box number eight. What does it cost you to get another customer? Step number eight, what does it cost you to actually acquire a customer? Step number nine, it’s hard to build organization if you’re not organized. We’re going to teach you how to create repeatable systems, processes, file organization. Box number 10, we’re going to teach you how to manage people, real people, on the planet Earth.
This just in. We’re going to teach you how to manage real people on the planet Earth. Box number 11, how to create a sustainable schedule that works for you and your family.
Step number 12, how to create human resources systems for recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining great people.
Box number 13, accounting. This just in, we have to cover accounting.
It’s not how much you make, it’s how much you keep.
We’re going to cover all the accounting things you need to know.
And step 14, finally, What is the point of even achieving success? We’re going to go over what is the point of even achieving success, how to design a life that you’re excited about, how to design a life where you carve out enough time for your faith, your family, your finance, your fitness, your friendship, your fun, and where you’re going to spend your focused time. We’re going to go through that, all this and more. Now, the workshop, Sean, it’s April 9th and 10th. It’s a two -day interactive workshop. And tickets, we always do it.
It’s $250 or whatever price that someone can afford.
Sean, why do we let people name their price? Why do we have scholarship tickets available? if somebody can’t afford the $250 general admission tickets? Well, we don’t want anybody to miss out on it. You know, you could be at a startup phase, or you could be, you know, way along in your business.
But we want to make it accessible for everybody.
I think it actually goes back, too, to a story of your dad.
And, like, it goes all the way back to how you’ve always done this as a business coach, trying to make sure that, you know, you’re just your average people out there have access to the things that work.
Now, 7 a .
m.
to 5, Sean, why do we go from 7 to 5 both days? I mean, it’s 10 hours a day, 20 hours of training over two days. Why do we do 10 hours a day, Sean, of back -to -back training? We do a 30 -minute teaching session. We do a 15 -minute question and answer session.
And then we take a break.
30 minutes of teaching, 15 minutes of question and answer.
Then we take a break.
Why do we do that format, Sean? That format is so that we can keep people engaged and not just sitting there listening, but also getting involved.
We really encourage people to ask questions. And that’s really where the juiciness of the conference comes out, is you can put your personal situation and your questions on the board, and Clay will tee off and give you direct advice. Even without being in our coaching program, you can get direct coaching from Clay. It’s really a very engaging format. I enjoy it a lot.

Right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tim Tebow, baby. It’s Tebow time in Tulsa, Russia. Clay Clark is here somewhere. Where’s my buddy Clay? Clay’s the greatest. I met his goats today.
I met his dogs. I met his chickens. I saw his compound. greatest guy. I ran from his goats, his chickens, his dogs. So this guy’s like the greatest marketer you’ve ever seen, right?
His entire life, Clay Clark, his entire life is marketing. It’s Luke Erickson here with the Thrive Time Show.
As you can see behind me, we’ve got all kinds of energy going on. People are starting to show up for the conference and it is hot in this place. We’ve got grill guns over here. We’ve got people playing the drums. We’ve got a fire. My name is Kevin Thomas and the name of our company is MultiClean.
We are a commercial janitorial service and we serve the entire state of Oklahoma. and Kansas and soon to be Arkansas. We have probably grown probably five times. We’ve added we I think when we first started with you we had 60 to 65 employees and now we have a little over 300 employees. Before we got involved with Thrive Time we didn’t really have any such
or processes in place. I’ve probably been to, oh, in six, seven years, I’ve probably been to 12 to 13 business conferences. And amazingly, each time I go, I learn something new and I’m so excited to bring it back and, and show the team. 4 ,000%. from February to February.
Now, I can better that.
OK, Clay, I don’t think you know this.
I don’t think you know this. I’m pinching myself. And if I cry, forgive me. In the last two and a half days, we have bettered our entire month of February. in the last two and a half days. none.
It’s a high energy, really cool atmosphere to be around. Contagious, I would say. Just something every entrepreneur, I think, would appreciate and love. I’d say humorous, high energy, and full of substance, which I think is the key. A lot of business coaches or seminars Maybe you’re high on motivation and making you feel good, but don’t have a lot of substance that you could take back and implement, you know, the following Monday. Where his does.
Man, there’s a lot of valuable things. I’m going to say, like, I came to this is my second workshop. The first workshop I took back really the importance of a group interview. I used to study hours and hours interviewing people, screening resumes, and that saving my time on that part is valuable. It was that and then the sales scripting that have been two major things just so far.
Man, I think they’re missing out on expert advice from somebody who’s been there, done that, built companies, has learned a lot of lessons, You know, that’s what I’m always looking for, is somebody that I can learn from, that’s ahead of where I am.
And I think if you choose not to come, you’re missing out on a lot of good advice that could help your business. Clay Clark has helped us take our three locations in three different states and create checklists, workflows, task lists, time blocks for every employee. He’s helped us with creating systems and audits for every department, quantitative scorecards for each department and every position so that everybody has a number. It’s been able to give us a lot of time freedom and financial freedom and peace. of mind to know that everything’s running efficiently and he’s been helpful with a lot of marketing, search engine optimization, helping us really rank high in Google and pretty much every area.
of the business. It’s been very, very helpful. We would describe the experience of working with Clay as very energetic. He’s full of energy. He’s very encouraging, very motivating, but also accountable. So he keeps us accountable, and we love that accountability.
It keeps our drive in the right direction so we’re not chasing things that aren’t worth spending our time on. He’s a great coach. He helps push us. on certain areas, helps coaches in certain areas. You know, we’re all emotional creatures and we get up and down and he actually will tell us kind of where we’re at, how we can get from there, and even like emotionally, like when we’re stressed about something, he’ll have a story to relate to and it really helps us in every area of our business.
It’s been very, very helpful. I think Clay’s ability to have a whole team behind him that helped him with all of his clients, all his coaching clients, is that it allows Clay to do what he’s really good at and that’s working one -on -one with the client and coaching them and then he can have his amazing staff come in and help you accomplish all these goals this year. And of course, he has all these resources, whether it’s videographers or whether it’s web developers, that they can quickly jump on your project, knock things out. He can quickly give you the right coaching. He’s just got a whole team of people that whatever area you’re lacking in in your own company, he’s got resources from like video, web design, search engine guys who are just knowledgeable in that. Even though he knows a lot of that stuff, He’s got these capable lieutenants that are ready to just take off and help you get that stuff done.
More stuff gets done on a weekly basis than you would on like probably most individual or some other company. We’ve worked with several companies before. It’s just not as many things get done on a weekly basis. It’s been very helpful. Well, the conferences for me, I’m a slow learner, so I have to learn like over and over again, hear things over and over again. I’ve been to like, I think, eight different conferences.
And each time you come, I learn a few new components.
Some things are repetitive, but a lot of the stuff just resettles and I get a little bit more depth into each component. So, I mean, I’ve been to eight of them. They’re all super entertaining. He’s very funny, very encouraging. He gets to kind of self -reflect a lot. A lot of the stuff is really polarized.
You do a personal inventory of yourself and you’ll think like, hey, I’ve really got to work on this, really got to work on that. So every time you come, I still get a lot of value out of it. And as much as every conference is the same, it’s totally different. So I think we’ll hear stories we haven’t heard before. He’ll have entertainment or he’ll have speakers he didn’t have before. And you, like you said, you just always catch a different part of the material that maybe you didn’t catch before.
It’s worded differently. And it’s really cool because some people that you’ve seen like a year ago at a conference, now they’re, you know, being showcased as a success story and you get to see their website, you get to see how their stats and all their metrics have improved and the revenue improved. So it’s really cool to see people that just a year ago, that of course we’ve been here two years, that just came, that I met, is now being successful. It’s really encouraging to see other people, you know, accomplish that stuff. So, Clay has helped us optimize our website and helped with really topping the right search engines that we need to make sure that we are very, very competitive with all of our other competitors. He’s done Basically, he outlines exactly what you need to be accomplishing and he creates tasks that we have to accomplish and his team has to accomplish.
I would say over the last two years, we’ve totally ramped our website. We’re topping Google in every one of our markets.
I would say he’s doing really, really good. I feel very, very confident in all of our future locations and making sure that we’re in front of the ideal and likely buyer. It’s very encouraging. It’s important to me that, to know when I’m working with Clay, you know, I’ve been in business for a while and met with him even when I already had three, three businesses in three different states. And to know that what I share with him is staying private. He’s not sending that out to anybody else.
To know that I’m, when he’s working with me, he’s only working with one other, no other gyms that are in direct competition with me. it’s very encouraging to have something you can trust and rely on that he isn’t going to like somehow tell your trade secrets or give information away. Just really awesome that he’s a trustworthy guy, really cares about you as a client. For us, it’s been a complete mind freedom, because Clay has helped us create a lot of different documents and one sheets for every department, put quantitative scorecards to each department. And so for us, it’s been very encouraging. It gives us peace.
Like as an entrepreneur, it’s stressful. You go to bed at night, you’re worried, like, did we cover this? Did we cover that? So he helps extract everything out of your brain, everything from your business, put it into document creation, put it into checklists and workflows for every person in each department, and make sure that everything’s getting done every week, every month, and funnel that all into KPIs, or Key Performance Indicators, as you can see on a weekly basis, to make sure you’re moving the needle in the right area of your company. So very encouraging, and give you a complete mind, freedom, and peace to know that that stuff’s created, so you’re easy to duplicate and scale your company. doing what we’re really good at, and just trust the system.
I honestly believe everybody needs a coach. I think we’re all inherently lazy, selfish, and carnal. I truly believe that humans are humans. If we’re standing, we’d rather sit. If we’re sitting, we’d rather lay down. And if we’re laying down, we’d rather be asleep.
So to have somebody that challenges you, have real active candor, and be honest with you on every aspect of your company is very, very important. really, really encouraging to me because I want to know. I want to work on what we’re weak at. I want to see any areas that we’re not doing well in and see his perspective from a third party because you can look at your own business and just see the good. It’s good to have somebody who’s done this with hundreds of companies. You know, really look at your company, reflect on your company and see like little
chinks in the armor to make sure you cover that up so your competition can’t get to you and that you’re successful overall in the big picture. Yes, I would recommend Clay Clark because he is a great friend, great encourager. To me, he’s been a wonderful friend. He’s also, you can tell he cares. And he also, he has this wealth of knowledge. He’s worked with so many different companies and different businesses.
He could take a concept that he’s used before in the past with somebody totally different industry and see how it would work perfectly for you and whatever niche market you’re in or whatever type of service you’re providing and so his brain is just a wealth of knowledge and just to have that type of perspective on you know as a part of your team and your own company is huge super valuable so I would definitely encourage people to use him but one thing is you got to be coachable you got to be wanting to get feedback you got to be wanting to really grow your company you got to want to put that extra 10 hours of to working on your business and not just in your business. And so, yes, I would recommend it to anybody who’s wanting to grow their company and provide great systems, checklists, workflows, great encouragement, and have accountability. First heard about Clayage Lender here, a job he had been doing for them. Actually noticed he was driving a Lamborghini all of a sudden, so was willing to listen. In my career, I’ve sold a little over $800 million in real estate. So honestly, I thought I kind of knew everything about marketing and homes.
And then I met Clay, and my perception of what I knew and what I could do definitely changed.
After doing $800 million in sales over a 15 -year career, I really thought I knew what I was doing. I’ve been managing a large team of salespeople for the last 10 years here with Shaw Homes. And, I mean, we’ve been a company that’s been in business for 35 years. We’ve become one of the largest builders in the Tulsa area, and that was without Clay. So when I came to know Clay, I really thought, man, there’s not much more I need to know, but I’m willing to listen. The interesting thing is our internet leads from our website has actually in a four month period of time has gone from somewhere around 10 to 15 leads in a month to 180 internet leads in a month.
Just from the few things that he’s shown us how to implement that I honestly probably never would have come up with on my own. So I got a lot of good things to say about the system that Clay put in place with us. And it’s just been an incredible experience. I am very glad that we met and had the opportunity to work with Clay. So the interaction with the team and with Clay on a weekly basis is honestly very enlightening. One of the things that I love about Clay’s perspective on things is that he doesn’t come from my industry.
He’s not somebody who’s in the home building industry. I’ve listened to all the experts in my field. Our company has paid for me to go to seminars, international builder shows, all kinds of places where I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the experts in my industry. But the thing that I found working with clay is that he comes from such a broad spectrum of working with so many different types of businesses that he has a perspective that’s difficult for me to gain because I get so entrenched in what I do. I’m not paying attention to what other leading industry experts are doing. and Clay really brings that perspective for me.
It is very valuable time every week when I get that hour with him. From my perspective, the reason that any business owner who’s thinking about hooking up with Thrive needs to definitely consider it is because The results that we’ve gotten in a very short period of time are honestly monumental. It has really exceeded my wildest expectation of what he might be able to do. I came in skeptical because I’m very pragmatic. And as I’ve gone through the process over just a few months, I’ve realized it’s probably one of the best moves we’ve ever made. I think a lot of people probably feel like they don’t need a business or marketing consultant because they maybe are a little bit prideful and like to think they know everything.
I know that’s how I felt coming in. I mean, we’re a big company that’s definitely one of the largest in town. And so we kind of felt like we knew what we were doing. And I think for a lot of people, they let their ego get in the way of listening to somebody that might have a better or different perspective than theirs. I would just really encourage you, if you’re thinking about working with clay, I mean, the thing is, it’s month to month. Go give it a try and see what happens.
I think in the 35 -year history of Shaw Homes, this is probably the best thing that’s happened to us. And I know if you give them a shot, I think you’ll feel the same way. I know for me, the thing I would have missed out on if I didn’t work with Clay is I would have missed out on literally an 1 ,800 % increase in our internet leads, going from 10 a month to 180 a month. That would have been a huge financial decision to just decide not give it a shot. I would absolutely recommend Clay Clark to anybody who’s thinking about working with somebody in marketing.
I would skip over anybody else you were thinking about and I would go straight to Clay and his team. I guarantee you’re not going to regret it because we sure haven’t. My name is Danielle Sprick, and I am the founder of D. Sprick Realty Group here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After being a stay -at -home mom for 12 years and my three kids started school and they were in school full -time, I was at a crossroads and trying to decide, what do I want to do? My degree and my background is in education, but after being a mom and staying home and all of that, I just didn’t have a passion for it. I once did.
My husband suggested real estate. He’s a home builder, so real estate and home building go hand in hand, and we just rolled with it. I love people. I love working with people. I love the building relationships.
But one thing that was really difficult for me was the business side of things, the processes and the advertising and marketing. I knew that I did not have what I needed to be successful. make that what it should be. So I reached out to Clay at that time and he and his team have been extremely instrumental in helping us build our brand, help market our business, our agents, the homes that we represent.
Everything that we do is a direct line from Clay and his team and all that they’ve done for us.
We launched our brokerage, our real estate brokerage, eight months ago. And in that time, we’ve gone from myself and one other agent just this week, we signed on our 16th agent. We have been blessed with the fact that we right now have just over 10 million in pending transactions. Three years ago, I never would have even imagined that I would be in this role that I’m in today, building a business, having 16 agents. But I have to give credit where credit’s due.
And Clay and his team and the business coaching that they’ve offered us has been huge. It’s been instrumental in what we’re doing.
Don’t ever limit your vision. When you dream big, big things happen. I started a business because I couldn’t work for anyone else. I do things my way. I do what I think is in the best interest of the patient. I don’t answer to insurance companies.
I don’t answer to large corporate organizations. I answer to my patient, and that’s it. My thought when I opened my clinic was I can do this all myself. I don’t need additional outside help in many ways. I mean, I went to medical school. I can figure this out.
But it was a very, very steep learning curve. Within the first six months of opening my clinic, I had a $63 ,000 embezzlement. I lost multiple employees. Clay helped us weather the storm of some of the things that are just a lot of people experience, especially in the medical world. He was instrumental in helping with the specific written business plan. He’s been instrumental in hiring good quality employees, using the processes that he outlines for getting in good talent, which is extremely difficult.
He helped me in securing the business loans. He helped me with web development. and search engine optimization. We’ve been able to really keep a steady stream of clients coming in because they found us on the web. With everything that I encountered, everything that I experienced, I quickly learned it is worth every penny to have someone in your team that can walk you through and even avoid some of the pitfalls that are almost invariable in starting your own business.
I am Dr. Chad Edwards and I own Revolution Health and Wellness Classic. Clay, my honor, my honor to be on your show and thank you for all you do. I hear The ripple effects from you are good ripple effects. You know what I mean? People rave about what they learn from you. So congratulations.
From expecting maybe $250 ,000 this year to we’re at $400 ,000. Kelsey with K &D’s Woodfinishing, business owner at 23. So I’ve been working this K &D’s company for about five years now. And we started working with Thrive not too long ago too. So we’re pretty excited about that. just listening to what they have to say their hiring process has just really been incredible as far as finding good quality help and the just the accountability of meeting up with them weekly and such good insight the resources they have for specific business questions it’s all been really incredible it’s been a great experience so I would recommend it to anybody.
What I’ve seen from Clay and his group at Thrive is they’ll give you a simple system And it’s the simple systems are the ones that people can wrap their brain around. They’re the ones that people can work with on a day -to -day basis. Hi there, my name is Stephanie Pipkin.
I am 24 years old and I own Black River Falls Cleaning Services. We opened in April of 2019 and it is now mid -June of 2020. So I wanted to talk today about the success and growth I have achieved by implementing the Proven Path with Clay Clark’s team and my business coach, Luke, from Thrive Time. It has been insane, to say the least. I started working with them in mid -February of this year, so we’re about four months in of working together, and it has completely transformed my business in pretty much every facet. So I’m going to check my notes here.
So in four months, my leads have tripled. I was getting probably like two leads a week. Now I’m getting more in the like 10 to 15 leads a week. I have doubled my number of employees. I’m now hitting the highest revenue weeks in the history of the company, week to week it seems like. We went from about six appointments today as our highest in February to now 14 to 15 appointments a day.
Hiring quality employees has become much simpler and less stressful by using their systems for hiring. I typically only get maybe two complaints a month, if that, and everybody shows up to work. I just have really high quality employees now, especially in something people typically consider a high turnover type of work, you know, cleaning houses, cleaning businesses. I have amazing employees now and I get rid of the ones who are not so amazing and bring on new ones because of, you know, group interviews and interviewing every single week. It’s just been great, and I don’t waste as much time on low -quality candidates anymore. And your coach will hold you accountable, which I love.
Again, the tough love is really great. Luke’s like a stern father figure, but he’s also nice, but also stern when he needs to be, when I’m being lazy. not doing the things That I know I need to do because I don’t want to do them. So that’s just great Worth every penny. I mean I pay him a million dollars a month if I can and maybe someday I’ll be able to but I would just say go for it if it seems like a good fit just go for it and Do what they say, even if you think it’s stupid or ridiculous, just do what they say because it’ll work. You know, people, when they look at my business, you know, people in my town, they think I’m lucky.
They think I’m just, you know, things just happen for me. And, you know, maybe I am lucky, but it has a lot to do with hard work and, you know, perseverance and, you know, working until you cry sometimes. That’s just being an entrepreneur, which if you’re a business owner, you understand that. But it’s having these systems in place of, you know, of course I’m going to be successful. It’s an absolute because I have all this stuff in the background happening. And I have Luke and Clay and everybody on their team working really hard to make sure that I’m a success.
And I can tell that they are just so excited every single week when I’m having all these wins and things like that. They’re so excited for me. So it just, it’s the best thing ever. And I would suggest to anybody to work with them. So sorry for the long -winded reply, but I just had so much to say, and I could go on for hours probably about how amazing they are. But thank you to Clay and Luke and the entire team there, everything you guys have done for me.
And I am so excited to continue to work with you for years to come. Thanks so much for watching. My saying is, if it’s important to you, hire a coach. And I think that’s one of the reasons people are not successful is they you know, they eat a cheeseburger instead of hiring a coach, you know what I mean? And so my coach pushes me, they’re younger than me, they push harder, they’re trained. And as my rich dad always said, you know, amateurs
don’t have a coach, but professionals always have coaches. So I’ve always had coaches for whatever was important. My rich dad was one of those persons. I wanted to learn how to play Monopoly in real life. So he was my coach.
